Westminstenders: a feature of the system not a bug

Tests on the new queuing system in Kent have revealed that lengthy tail backs are a feature not a bug.

We should get used to them because thats normal not the system malfunctioning, but the planned system working as designed.

Today we have found out that there's no money left. The economy is fucked. And tomorrow we will probably all be in T3 with the Isles of Wight, the tip of Cornwall and inner Westminster the only places left in T1.

Christmas has apparently been 'saved' though. Well if you are dumb and lacking in functional brain cells its 'saved'. Trade for Christmas is already thoroughly goosed and indoor family gatherings may come with a extra side of covid. The BBC have done an epic job of 'doommongering project fear' style graphics on this wonderful subject.

Tis the season to be jolly. Jolly fucked.

Is Nige unhappy. Well he has something new to wank about so that will cheer him up.

DGRossetti · 08/12/2020 16:36

I'm sure HMG will try to sell the IMB capitulation as an example of compromise and will expect something in return

The BBC has already spiked that though ...

www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-55229681

...
The details of the agreement have not yet been published, but are expected to be rubber stamped before the end of the month.

They will apply regardless of whether the two sides agree a deal to govern their trading relationship after the Brexit transition period ends on 31 December.
...

So it's obvious that it's all for show and to signal to people outside the UK that "sanity" has prevailed. The fact it comes on the 40th anniversary of John Lennons death, or the safe harbour date for US electoral college votes is merely one of those cosmic coincidences that happens from time time. Much like Boris Johnson never being more than 10 feet from a gaffe.

pussycatinboots · 08/12/2020 16:38

Is this about 10 feet?

He's taken to giving footballers advice on how to stop teammates taking the knee. Apparently the trick is to link arms so they can't go down (insert very smutty joke here).

I predict it will be milliseconds before the first team to try that get's a video to the tune of the Hokey Cokey.

Wait till Trump blames him for losing.

No, just one knob.

So do I get this clear? Removing the law breaking parts of the WA isn't an agreement; it just puts us back to the status we had before they decided that they would prefer to break international law to cover for the fact that they were too lazy to read the WA?

Pretty much. By removing the law breaking parts of the IMB and the proposed tax bill, it means that if a deal is agreed, it can be accepted by the EU. If they left those in, it would make a deal impossible.

It doesn't necessarily mean we're any nearer a deal.

Peregrina · 08/12/2020 18:18

And just saying that they were planning to break the law but won't now doesn't restore the trust which has been lost.

OchonAgusOchonO · 08/12/2020 18:20

And just saying that they were planning to break the law but won't now doesn't restore the trust which has been lost.

Not really. Hence the importance of governance.....

Wahey, "BillionaireBrexiter, Jim Ratcliffe, ditches plan to build new Grenadier in Wales, it will now be built in the EU at a plant in France due to its proximity to the border with Germany and access to supply chains. It's also handy for his home in Monaco."

This is probably the fault of Remainers as well. I do wonder what the uber-Leavers think when they read that?

@Peregrina

So we're dropping the offending clauses from the IMB and the forthcoming taxation bill. Quelle Surprise.

I thought they'd just voted to put them back? Has Biden been on the blower to Johnson then?

Now. I actually have a major issue with that. TWICE the HoC voted for those clauses. All part of the democratic process. But somehow it’s ok for BJ to just ignore it and cancel those clauses because it’s better for him. No new vote , just like with the free school meals. He is doing what he wants regardless of the parliamentary vote.

Where is democracy in all that?!?

PawFives · 08/12/2020 18:34

🤣🤣 DGR sums it up

DrBlackbird · 08/12/2020 18:34

So our big Brexit supporter turned Monaco refugee has now decided that perhaps he won't build a car plant in Wales after all... now there's a surprise. However, I'm sure someone will come along to say it's all a lie and that an even bigger and better car plant will be built thanks to the glory of Brexit.

Now having read that other thread of the OP upset at 'France' 🙄 it was eye opening as to how beliefs about brexit negotiations and outcomes (from where?!) trump facts and knowledge. Moreover, frustratingly, Brexiteers will never own the consequences of their decision making. The negative outcomes will always be someone else's fault. 😑

DGRossetti · 08/12/2020 19:00

We were being assured until last night that the UK needed those clauses as an "insurance policy" which is why they had to be restored.

But yesterday there was still a hairline chance that Trump could prevail. Today that disappeared. And voila ! so do the offending clauses.

Whether the UK has any intention of abiding by the WA remains to be seen. Aren't we a bit deficient in all the checks it required us to implement.

I'm starting to grasp why Cameron fucked off so soon after the referendum, despite his assurances he'd see it through. If I'm right, then Boris discomfort hasn't even started yet. If I were him I'd want to be out of the way come March. But we'll see.

ListeningQuietly · 08/12/2020 19:01

Jim Ratcliffe
hmmm
I refer y'all back to my observations of him haggling at a car boot sale in the early autumn
he cares NOTHING about the UK
only about his own paper bank balance
like most of the rich Brexit proponents

borntobequiet · 08/12/2020 19:23

How long can the vaccine celebration and crowing go on? Long enough to cover for numerous Brexit volte-faces and backtracks? It’s really such a gift.
I was surprised at the reporting of BJ’s conversations with Ursula Von der Leyen, which the BBC at least seemed to think might unlock some of the trade deal difficulties - I thought, good way to throw a spanner in the works by having the buffoon turn up piffling and waffling. Who wants that? Bad enough having Gove tentacling into view.

wewereliars · 08/12/2020 19:30

Tentacling so apposite for Gove. He and Johnson stand out in a cabinet full of egregious moral bankrupts as being truly appalling self serving shits.
