Just waiting.

Talks between Frost and Barnier still unresolved issues. There are rumours but 'all without evidence' (the new in phrase on BBC news tonight) that the UK is waivering.

Less that two months to go.

And there is the small matter of what happens in the US than might influence events.

Emilyontmoor
puts us in the lead in the grizzly European Covid death league
back in the lead in Europe for leaving people in the way of dying of Covid. All the pigs with their snouts in the trough...banana republic

I am surprised that TheElementsOfMedical hasn't pulled you up on your lack of compassion here - in view of her previous comments on the posting of coronavirus death statistics. She probably writes for the Guardian.

TheElementsOfMedical · 12/11/2020 09:48

Oh dear, the squirrels are really declining in quality lately. How on earth are we ever going to get a decent meal and pair of leggings out of these recent offerings? Grin

(Also wondering if I've been mixed up with some other poster - to be fair, to a true Brexitannian patriot perhaps all Treasonous Remoaners look the same).

SabrinaThwaite · 12/11/2020 09:52

Time for some tortoiseshell cat facts perhaps? 🐈

AuldAlliance · 12/11/2020 09:54

I'm still enjoying Michael Govern Ready's tweets:

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single Tory in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a completely underqualified spouse to give lucrative untendered contracts to.

BTW - how is your mum?

DGRossetti · 12/11/2020 10:06

And as far as Bojo's girlfriend how the f* does she get a say in anything?

Maybe that's the price she gets for staying ?

Remember the police being called to Boris' before the election.

Remember the speculation over summer ? That staged photo ?

Not sure I want the man that is supposed to be running the country in hock to his base desires.

AuldAlliance · 12/11/2020 10:08

prettybird Last time I spoke to her she was "a bit tired from digging in the garden", so I think she's recovered OK. Hmm
Thank you for asking...

Time for some CnP

www.cityam.com/brexit-eu-set-to-shut-out-the-city-of-london-from-1-january/

Brussels looks set to lock the City of London out of European markets from 1 January, with the EU not planning on granting regulatory equivalence before the end of the Brexit transition period.

City A.M. understands the UK’s financial services firms are heading toward the default position of having to deal with individual host countries’ regulatory regimes from next year.

The decision will be a serious blow for the City of London, which wanted a fresh EU-wide deal since the UK exports around £26bn of financial services to the EU annually.

"But Senator Chris Coons, a close ally of the new President, said that the Prime Minister was “more agile, engaging, educated and forward looking than perhaps the caricature of him in the American press would have suggested"

As an hommage to John Kerry..

It's called diplomacy, Clavinova.

I'd guess that what is happening at Downing Street is a battle over who has what amount of shit on our dear PM, and additionally who is prepared to employ that shit.

Oh, OK then Wink

🐿 Early in embryonic development, the cells of female cats, which like other mammalian females have two X chromosomes (XX), undergo X-inactivation - one of the X-chromosomes is turned off at random in each cell. This is thought to prevent females from having twice as many X chromosome gene products as males - this is called dosage compensation. The inactivated X becomes a Barr body, visible microscopically in the cell nucleus.

In cats, one of the major genes for coat colour is located on the X chromosome and has two forms (alleles) which can be simplified to Orange and NotOrange. In tortie cats, this results in patches of cells in which the X chromosome carrying the Orange allele is inactivated, and other patches of cells in which the X chromosome carrying the NotOrange allele is inactivated - thus producing their patchy markings!

Tortoiseshell cats are a lovely visual representation of all female mammals including women - we’re all invisible tortoiseshells! 🐿

I can also geek, extensively, about other genetic and developmental factors relating to calico and dilute coat colours but will restrain myself Grin

Oh, I almost forgot the most important part: "Therefore, ToryBrexitannianNationalPlague is really excellent!"

Why are these battles in No 10 coming out now? Is it because the wrong man won in the USA - so they are all rushing for the lifeboats?

Yup. Running down the clock is going badly wrong and they are all blaming each other rather than deal with the problem.

I'm guessing there's a pressure to make no. 10 "Biden ready" - which is going to be a completely different look than remaining (as it was) "Trump ready".
ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 12/11/2020 11:19

According to LK on the BBC,

"This is about who is running the country and the prime minister's ability to manage his own operation."

I guess I am on the fourth or fifth stage of grief, regarding Brexit.
It's going to be epically shit. There's no way around it. But I can't summon up anything more than mild bemusement at the current political show.

I do have the marshmallows ready to be toasted, for the next bonfire of expectations.

I have engineered that as a macro in my mind to skip the next 10 paragraphs. Once again, the efficiency of experienced scepticism.

TatianaBis · 12/11/2020 11:34

A piece of hearsay/gossip: A friend of mine knows Carrie’s mum. She expressed sympathy with her mum when Carrie first got involved with Boris, and apparently her mum snorted: “Don’t worry about her she’s hard as nails and on the make, she’ll be fine”.

Emilyontmoor · 12/11/2020 11:34
