Just waiting.

Talks between Frost and Barnier still unresolved issues. There are rumours but 'all without evidence' (the new in phrase on BBC news tonight) that the UK is waivering.

Less that two months to go.

And there is the small matter of what happens in the US than might influence events.

Italian suppliers of fabric and textiles will quote their price on a DPD basis
putting all the currency and supply chain risk onto the customer.
No Italian fabric supplier will fart about with the small UK market when they could hit bigger ones elsewhere.

Its not the percentage that matters
its the time to comply with the percentage

Brexiters have this faith in zero tariffs
but ferk all understanding of non tariff boundaries
and until they do
51 days and counting
the UK is SCREWED

UK is comfortably 8k deaths ahead.

How are we "back in the lead" today, compared to yesterday?

"Snag, which was created with one clear mission in mind – to ensure anyone who wants to wear tights has access to hosiery that genuinely fit in comfort, regardless of size, shape, age or gender, recently announced an annual turnover of £24 million."

"To date, our approach has led to more than 1,500,000 pairs of tights sold to 350,000 unique customers in the past 22 months."

  • not during coronavirus of course.

It'll be fiiiiiiiiiine. Here in ToryBrexitannianNationalPlague land, thanks to the plentiful supply 🐿, we'll all be able to wear squirrel-skin leggings. Plus, they're edible and we'll also be able to eat their meat, thus not needing those foreign-tainted rotten foods stuck in the Farage Garage.

C&Pnova's constant squirrel 🐿 creation will be a Brexit benefit!

ListeningQuietly · 11/11/2020 21:17

Our neighbourhood furry tailed rat has C&Ps for years
but keeps back tracking when reality hits each stage of the game.
I CBA to play any more

50 days and we'll see if she's right

prettybird · 11/11/2020 21:20

LQ - it would appear that the new 🐿 is that any price rises that consumers experience as a result of Brexit will be the fault of the manufacturers and importers for not having absorbed the extra costs (whether that be tariffs or distribution costs) themselves Hmm

With a side serving of "they're just recouping losses caused by Covid" Hmm

Confused
borntobequiet · 11/11/2020 21:20

A cautionary tale

Peregrina · 11/11/2020 21:26

A couple of local firms have gone under as a result of Covid and a number of shops are hanging on by the skin of their teeth - so the last thing they will want is something which forces prices up.

Imagine someone hanging on to a cliff edge by their fingertips. Someone comes but instead of giving them a hand up, they stamp on their fingers and cause them to fall. That is the effect of Brexit on top of Covid.

Clav, can we at least agree that, currently, UK is the country with the highest no of CV-related deaths in Europe? If you are seeing different numbers, please share any links.
Clavinova · 11/11/2020 21:46

can we at least agree that, currently, UK is the country with the highest no of CV-related deaths in Europe?

Yes - depending on the reliability of data in the UK, Italy, France and Spain. Belgium is the highest per 1M population.

TheElementsOfMedical · 11/11/2020 21:48

I don't know if anyone has linked this thread about musicians after Brexit?

Dear fellow musicians, performers, technicians etc. Here’s a thread about how our lives are going to change re touring/working in the EU in 50 days time. Think of it as a kind of Bad News Advent calendar. Here goes

Clavinova · 11/11/2020 21:52

Not many performing opportunities in Europe at the moment.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 11/11/2020 21:58

Thanks for that Emily. We knew thus, but not all of the details. DS was supposed to play his first international gig in March 2020. Obviously, it didnt go ahead.

(He's a drummer... )

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 11/11/2020 21:59

Not many performing opportunities ANYWHERE at the moment.

There - fixed it for you.

Oh dear, that was a particularly poor deflective effort threadbare squirrel.
PawFives · 11/11/2020 22:02

Any thoughts about what’s happening with all the No. 10 intrigue, factions, power struggles, speculation that’s been on Twitter all day? Distraction, rats leaving the sinking ship, prelude to Johnson resigning, all of the above?

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 11/11/2020 22:02

Sorry, I wrote "Emily" - I meant to write "Elements".
As you were.

HesterThrale · 11/11/2020 22:05

Shenanigans in no.10 tonight, Cummings ' considering his position'.

Oh for a grown-up government.

HesterThrale · 11/11/2020 22:07

Actually, after the Barnard Castle fiasco, wasn't Cummings committed to leaving at Christmas anyway?

KenDodd · 11/11/2020 22:34

Well in good news. At least the Netherlands seems to be doing very well out of Brexit with all the UK businesses moving there.

Yikes. Sad

SabrinaThwaite · 11/11/2020 23:01

Torygraph front page.

Symonds vetoes Cain as Chief of Staff, Cain quits, Cummings “considering position”.
