Seen it online but not sure if it is true

Does that not make you even slightly question an alternative motive? Not everything is black and white but as Greenish says it’s certainly had the desired effect.
No, because I'm not in denial and trying to look at the world through rose-tinted spectacles. There has always been racism in England and Brexit has made it worse. Not every Leaver is a racist, xenophobic bigot, but enough are. When the likes of JR-M called for all EU citizens in the UK should be stripped of their rights this only encourages this sort of thing.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/02/2020 20:48

Racist abuse is going to become more and more prevalent now. Wayne from round the corner thinks he owns his country because no EU and will tell this loudly to anyone that’s not white or speaking English.

It is going to be a truly disgusting country to live in. I am ashamed to be British right now.

GreenishMe · 01/02/2020 21:02

How do you square that with the fact that you voted to remain in a club of white skinned nations with some of the most racist countries in the world as members?

Sadly racism exists everywhere - as does hypocrisy.

Ps "Wayne" ?? Classism? Intellectual snobbery? More hypocrisy?

lljkk · 01/02/2020 21:18

Jaysus. :(
BBC story.
I pass by Winchester tower block twice a day in the week (part of my commute).

I feel like I know the area well... lived nearby sometimes. We used to play regular sport at Jenny Lind park, many yrs ago. It's edge of the Golden Triangle which is heavily occupied by students & Science Park lefties. Local school has good rep. But crime rates are high, too.

The (busy) chemist is run by an Asian family & the area is fairly multi-cultural.

I predict local reaction is going to be fairly critical.

WanderingMilly · 01/02/2020 21:28

Whether it's true or not, that notice is racist and dreadful.
Nothing to do with why the majority of people voted Brexit - they wanted the UK to go its own way, outside of the EU.
Nasty racists have jumped onto the bandwagon and are using it for their own ends but that isn't the majority of people.

There are other countries which are European but not in the EU, such as Iceland and Norway. They are happy to be out of the EU but they do not have a racist population...in fact, their incidences of racism are extremely low, and notices like the one in the OPs picture would not occur/not be tolerated in those countries. People need to realise there are other reasons for not being part of the EU which are not racist.

DogInATent · 01/02/2020 21:35

People need to realise there are other reasons for not being part of the EU which are not racist.
Give three reasons (not sound bites). Fed up with the drivel. If you voted to change the status quo then please explain the benefits.

SpecLosers · 01/02/2020 21:36

It is allowed now, sadly. Brexit said it.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/02/2020 22:02

@GreenishMe oh give over. A white skinned club 😂

Stop trying to defend racist behaviour. And yes, perhaps I was being a bit classist with my ‘Wayne’ comment, but have you seen the interviews that were conducted last night? 3 of them were called Wayne!

Thefaceofboe · 01/02/2020 22:06

It’s been done by some racist dickhead. Lol. It’s that simple

time4chocolate · 01/02/2020 22:16

oh give over. A white skinned club 😂

Yeah hilarious isn't it Teddy

GreenishMe · 01/02/2020 22:26

@ Teddy

I abhor racism - have done all my life - so I will defend myself against all these blanket 'racist' slurs that have been circulating here. That is not defending racism - recognise the difference.

SinkGirl · 01/02/2020 22:28

It’s not fake. The local councillor has commented below the original tweet saying it was reported to her and to the police staff who took them all down.

twitter.com/simon_price01/status/1223550261739782144?s=20

Anyone who thinks this must be fake is naive.

SinkGirl · 01/02/2020 22:31

See councillor’s tweet (TCemma)

Anyone seen this? Is it true?
PityParty4one · 01/02/2020 22:35

Who ever put this up was a racist dickhead last week.
He or she did not suddenly become a racist at 11:01pm yesterday.

Yes some racists have always been racist wankers they will take this as an opportunity to vocalise their racist bullshit. However Brexit did not desolve the laws of the land. Racisim is a crime and it continues to be.
There are more good people than bad.

PityParty4one · 01/02/2020 22:39

Teddy, Wayne is a thick twat.
If you believe Wayne now runs the country then we really are lost.

SinkGirl · 01/02/2020 22:39

Who ever put this up was a racist dickhead last week
He or she did not suddenly become a racist at 11:01pm yesterday

That’s really not the point is it?

They didn’t post this sign last week. They posted it now because they believe that the voting public support and agree with their racist beliefs. Brexit has made them believe that this is what the majority really think, and they’re just the ones who are brave enough to say it (anonymously).

Do you think they would have posted this notice had Brexit been called off?

Can you imagine how intimidating and distressing it would be to be a foreign national and see a sign like this on every floor of your building?

TeddyIsaHe · 01/02/2020 22:48

@PityParty4one what? Read the Kyoto e. I do t believe anyone runs this godforsaken island, but the racist leavers certainly do.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/02/2020 22:49

WOW autocorrect. Read the NOTICE.

PityParty4one · 01/02/2020 22:52

That’s really not the point is it?

Yeah it is. This person is so thick they think yesterday meant racism is no longer a crime.

Can you imagine how intimidating and distressing it would be to be a foreign national and see a sign like this on every floor of your building?

I would hope they would see it for the racist crap it was and get on with their day. Just like I would.
I am an immigrant and by god I am not some snowflake that would crumble at a sign.
After 20 years in this country I have experienced racism where it affected me no more than 5 times.
This country is not racist....if anything it's too bloody polite!! It just has racist bankers that live here.

PityParty4one · 01/02/2020 22:55

Racist leavers...oh get a grip.

I voted remain but I am not so bitter I believe ever leaver is racist.
God if that's what you need to tell yourself to get on with your day feel free but it's not the truth.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/02/2020 22:58

@PityParty4one but you can’t speak for everyone. Just because you can cope doesn’t mean the people that commit suicide or flee can.

People seeing that notice may have just lost a family member, or their job, or had a massive argument with the person they love most. And to see someone saying you’re not welcome in your own home? It’s fucking disgusting.

I’m British, born and bred. I’m not white British. So I’ve experienced my fair share of horrific acts. I’m strong enough to call them out. But to call someone a snowflake? Nah.

Just because YOU haven’t experienced racism doesn’t mean this country isn’t a cesspool. It is. It gross. And the people that live here that aren’t white/British don’t deserve a single second of the shit they’re going to have to endure.

VenusTiger · 01/02/2020 23:01

Whoever it was who posted this notice, did so in order to create this very thread and likewise, outburst on Twitter - a photo opportunity. It would not in the slightest bit suprise me if the person who made this ridiculous sign voted remain - it's a plant, a smear - if you can't see that then there are more problems than Brexit.
No-one is that stupid, it's a hate crime - ffs why would you tell the world how you voted and that you are racist. Think about it.

TeddyIsaHe · 01/02/2020 23:03

Of course they’re that stupid. Ask a leaver why they voted to leave and their answers are: fish, sovereignty, no freedom of movement.

Nothing else.

Here’s some cracking examples:

TeddyIsaHe · 01/02/2020 23:05

Oh no, also democracy. Silly me.

None got pissed off about the prorogation of parliament though, which is highly amusing.
