No, not yet, but soon. Just 24 more sleeps until we legally leave the EU at 11pm on 31 January and finally enter the transition period after what seems like centuries of argument, dither and delay. We do so with hope, optimism and a determination to be a good friend and neighbour to the EU, but for now, no one said it better than Winston Churchill.

“This is not the end, this is not even the beginning of the end, this is just perhaps the end of the beginning.”

The Pub Rule is the same as it always was: all welcome but only if you leave goadery outside. The first drink is on the house.

I can honestly say, ime, the most spiteful & over the top hateful posts have all come from remainers. And that’s without all the constant calls of ‘Russian Bot’ - absolutely pathetic.

Still. We’re the ones celebrating SmileWine

We are going to need the Brexit Arms or Freedom Arms over the coming year, as a refuge from all the abuse remainers throw our way.

Its very sad they feel so full of anger as to actually try and insult us in here but I am hoping they will skulk away back under their stones once we finally leave in 13 days.

No of course not, but it will become general political chat. The whole process will take years. I just think people will get bored of talking about it.

HateIsNotGood · 18/01/2020 21:20

Dear MFHair

We are a very civilized, yet life-hardened bunch. There was a previous Tavern that was here that suited the environment it was in; pretty full-on.

Most had to Leave the Brexit Threads because it was so harsh, really full-on and not very nice at all. Just a continuous blah, blah and continuous flow of nasty rhetoric.

The best word I can think of is 'steadfast', but it's not the best description - as this isn't a fortress. I can hardly think of a better resolution to all problems than to invite all people to sit by the fire and eat, drink and discuss.

Between 1974 and 2016 the Brexiters did not get bored.
What makes you think those unhappy with the 2016 result will be any less persistent ?

MichaelFabricantsHair · 18/01/2020 21:23

Hate, I am fully aware of the history of this place. I used to be a regular poster myself a few years ago.

Coppersulphate · 18/01/2020 21:23

I am very attached to "The Brexit Arms" but love the "Freedom Arms".

AutumnRose1 · 18/01/2020 21:23

Am I a curse, or is it like this here a lot at the mo?

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 18/01/2020 21:25

Well exactly - who wants to stick around listening to you lot whinging.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 18/01/2020 21:25

And yes, I left after a barrage of disabilist abuse thrown my way by a troll. Not even a common garden troll, a really unpleasant Remainer troll. Dusty can vouch for me 😊

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 18/01/2020 21:27

Didn’t he come back about 50 times?

Coppersulphate · 18/01/2020 21:27

Oh no, Autumn. You are not a curse and it is quite civilised in here compared to a couple of years ago.
We used to joke that as soon a a leaver posted someone would put them in a chair under a spotlight and interrogate them.

Always asking "where's your evidence" facts, we want facts.
I stopped posting because of the bullying.
And the same posters (well except LeCl...) are still over there and most are still being nasty.

HateIsNotGood · 18/01/2020 21:30

And i think all this 'troll' stuff is absolute nonsense of course. I just find one of life's pleasures is to take an idea and play with it. So just for fun I make a safe place for all Trolls (imaginary and true) to come and hang out.

Doesn't mean I don't take things seriously, but I'd rather laugh than not. I've cried enough.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 18/01/2020 21:30

Didn’t he come back about 50 times?
He sure did! He was relentless and had no shame.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 18/01/2020 21:34

And i think all this 'troll' stuff is absolute nonsense of course
That's fine if you've never been trolled for having disabilities, or your dear brother's severe disabilities mocked and taunted. Thankfully this particular troll glossed past my DS's disabilities, but given chance, I'm sure he would have launched into his hatred for people that "dribbled saliva"

MichaelFabricantsHair · 18/01/2020 21:39

Gosh, I've been deleted for referencing another poster who quite openly slags this thread off in another place?
How's one permitted but a response is beyond the pale? 🤔

HateIsNotGood · 18/01/2020 21:44

Ah - MFHair - my observation wasn't intended to minimize your actual experience of IT Trolls, it more relates to casual IT accusations of trolling. I do apologize if I didn't explain myself enough.

Yes, a year or so ago it was Open Season here on any poster who admitted to voting Leave - they couldn't care less if in RL you were disabled or caring for a disabled person - all remain-dissenters were to be castigated.

I have a disabled DS myself so understand a bit.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 18/01/2020 21:53

This particular troll stated that I was "mentally deficient" when I challenged this language, was told they "didn't give a rat's arse" When I then pointed out that I cared for my brother who fitted the legal definition of "mentally deficient" (24 hour care, peg tube fed) I was told they "didn't care about my personal situation and go sob on another thread"

DustyDiamond · 18/01/2020 21:56

I remember Michael - the dribbling thing was 😮
Nasty, spiteful little đŸĻŠ

Re the deletions for mentioning other posters/posts on other threads - certain posters don't like their posts from other threads being repeated on here

As me & Epic found out:
No screenshots, no quotes, no allusions, no names - all deletable apparently 🤷đŸģ‍♀ī¸đŸ™„

They can slag us off elsewhere in a big old wankfest of smug, but heaven forfend it gets talked about in here 🙄🙄🙄

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 18/01/2020 21:56

This is the problem with social media, it attracts an awful lot of very nasty people.

Miljea · 18/01/2020 22:01

walkingdead you possibly don't know how much it worries me that people like you, a committed Leaver, who has absolutely won, via Leave and Boris, feels the need for a 'safe place' like this, post-Brexit?

Why? Why?

'Leave' was always an article of faith, a faith you have.

Believe in it. You won!

What are you now afraid of? Remainer can't touch you any more. You're in your happy place!

Please own it!

MichaelFabricantsHair · 18/01/2020 22:02

How odd! I was simply replying to an unpleasant reference to this thread, but Boom! Deleted!
And yet we're accused of being a hotbed of deleting posts we don't like? Grin

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 18/01/2020 22:02

I hide that other thread. At its peak they were getting through a thread a week ( do any of them work? ) because I was forever hiding the bloody thing. Things have obviously calmed down as I haven’t seen a new one in a while.

DustyDiamond · 18/01/2020 22:03

In lighter news!

Mega love to 🐈🐈🐈 (in gangs..!) for nominating Our Jarvis as contender for next PM 😍😍

Amongst the self-styled 'common people' standing for Labour leader, he is def my top pick 🙌🙌
