Brexit Arms - Out with the old and in with the new

It’s time again for another Brexit Arms thread to see us into Christmas and beyond.

Well what a week it’s been!!

Boris has now completed his first week and he’s been busy. New conservatives have been sworn in, the Queens Speech yesterday shows promise (aware that the proof of the (Xmas) pudding is in the eating) and Boris’ Deal is going to be voted on today with the results being around 3pm I believe.

Meanwhile, on the other side all four wheels have definitely fallen off the red bus and were very nearly joined by a garden gate and a car door. Oh dear!!

Anyway, I have added a few more Christmas decs to the pub and popped the fairy back on the tree (it took a nasty tumble)

We are now good to go.
Cheers all 🍷🍷

Ps. If anyone wants to volunteer for outside catering that would be👍🏻

Morning all Brew

If the new leader is to be announced on Saturday 4th April, does that mean Jezza's last PMQs will be on April Fool's Day?!

A metaphor for his time as leader, and a top piece of trolling if so...!! 😂😂😂😂

😂🤣 Never occurred to me, Dusty, but you are correct of course.

Do you suppose he's doing it as a personal sacrifice to spare the new Glorious Leader? Or did he just want to rival Tony Blair's long goodbye and farewell tour and didn't realise the implications of the date?

Forgot to post this yesterday. It seems that Calais is ready for 31 January.

I think they are determined that Rotterdam will not pinch their crown. Or their business.

Those signs have been up at Dunkirk for a while Lily. Will report back in a week or so how it looks going in and coming out.

Will report back in a week or so how it looks going in and coming out.

It won't be any different, for trucks at least. As long as we leave 'with a deal' any new border arrangements don't come in until after the transition period - so 2021. It's business as usual for imports and exports until then.

Calais was ready for 'no deal' last March, with new facilities and detailed instructions for hauliers.

Fat The signage at Dunkirk has been evolving over the past year, as has the access and exits from the area around the ferry. I've left three different ways in the past year when I've arrived at Dunkirk en route to our then home in Belgium. Lots more fencing up, and the access into the terminal changed as well. Having taken two trucks to and from Belgium to UK last year prior to moving back, I'm sticking to the car from now on.

Scary, hope your journey goes smoothly. It's one I've done a fair few times although not recently so I'd be interested to hear.

Dusty, if only the ballot papers included photos of all the candidates...

No one's volunteering, are they?

Oh all right, I will - unless you want to arm wrestle me for it, in which case, I already give in.

Off in about 10 days to collect dh's new obsession from the NL and seeing friends in belgium, then home for the final unpacking push. Finally got shot of the last of the moving firm's boxes...now just need to hit the storage unit.

Thank you to our esteemed Landlady, time4chocolate, for her hospitality over the Christmas season. She leaves the books in good order, the finances stable, the pantry well-stocked and there are agreements in place with all our suppliers to ensure the smooth ongoing delivery of food and drink for the foreseeable future.

Here is the link to the new thread. The kettle is on...
