Brexit Arms - Out with the old and in with the new

It’s time again for another Brexit Arms thread to see us into Christmas and beyond.

Well what a week it’s been!!

Boris has now completed his first week and he’s been busy. New conservatives have been sworn in, the Queens Speech yesterday shows promise (aware that the proof of the (Xmas) pudding is in the eating) and Boris’ Deal is going to be voted on today with the results being around 3pm I believe.

Meanwhile, on the other side all four wheels have definitely fallen off the red bus and were very nearly joined by a garden gate and a car door. Oh dear!!

Anyway, I have added a few more Christmas decs to the pub and popped the fairy back on the tree (it took a nasty tumble)

We are now good to go.
Cheers all 🍷🍷

Ps. If anyone wants to volunteer for outside catering that would be👍🏻

It's a bit early in the day, NoCountry, but have a Pimms on the house.

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 14:18

I think 2pm is a fine time for Pimms.

SingingLily · 05/01/2020 14:20

Only if you are in the Whitehouse, Autumn, not if you are in the White House - it's only 9.20am there. Grin

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 05/01/2020 14:21

At this point, I’m considering pimms with my cornflakes instead of orange juice Every morning. Grin

AutumnRose1 · 05/01/2020 14:23

well, if you can have a mimosa with breakfast...or should I say bucks fizz....why not?

I can't tell you the number of times I pass the Aperol ad on the bus to work and think "yes please!"

SingingLily · 05/01/2020 14:24

We could put it on the menu for you, Epic.

That's if I can tear myself away from the puppetry classes.

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 05/01/2020 14:28

Yes! All of the booze on the breakfast menu please, all of it. 😂🙌🙌

SingingLily · 05/01/2020 14:37

Kellogg's found a way to make beer from waste cornflakes. There's a whole crate of it in the cellar.

Anyone want to try one of their own free will? Before an American trade deal makes it compulsory (and punishable by law for anyone who doesn't comply)?

NoCountry · 05/01/2020 14:37

No. YOU didn’t. HTH.

No one did.

But since you're HTH to can show me where it was said?

NoCountry · 05/01/2020 14:41

It's a bit early in the day, NoCountry, but have a Pimms on the house.

No idea what that means, sorry

howabout · 05/01/2020 14:42

You mean I'm not going to be limited to own brand chlorinated cornflakes. Shock Phew

Used to start every Sunday morning with a mimosa and eggs benedict and bottomless filter coffee when I lived in the US. Made me miss it now. Sad

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 05/01/2020 14:42

Well, I can’t name names, because mumsnet.

I can’t post screen shots, because mumsnet.

I can’t specify other threads, because mumsnet.

But, several pages back, a specific poster on this thread (not just here) did just that, then caused a fake furore about it over this and other threads. Feel free to do your OWN research.

SingingLily · 05/01/2020 14:43

It was a pleasantry, NoCountry, but never mind. Have a relaxing Sunday anyway.

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 05/01/2020 14:46

Oh and just a couple of pages ago, a couple of prolific posters on another thread are alluding to it.

SingingLily · 05/01/2020 14:48

Eggs Benedict, howabout, now you're talking! I'll whip some up tomorrow morning.

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 05/01/2020 14:49

They are also calling us out for getting aforementioned specific poster banned. Which never happened.

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 05/01/2020 14:52

Anyway, my field of fucks on this matter, is now, beyond barren. So I won’t be engaging with it from now on.

SingingLily · 05/01/2020 14:52

Ah, but don't forget, Epic, we know what happened to Lord Lucan and Red Rum. Probably also know who was really on the grassy knoll and how the Bermuda Triangle really works.

Still stumped on the Loch Ness monster though.

Even so, it's all our fault, all of it.

NoCountry · 05/01/2020 14:56

So can't help then. That's..suprising.

SingingLily I assumed it was some sort of code for the regulars but actually you're offering me a virtual Pimms? I'm on coffee but thanks anyway.

I wonder if the EU will evolve in some way that would make it useful to rejoin? Or maybe there will be no lessons learned..they could certainly have done themselves some good before and after the ref in 2016 by accepting their share of the blame for people's disenfranchisement.

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 05/01/2020 14:57

I’m just waiting to see when ‘Machiavelli’ is ‘icumen’ in for another drink tbh Lily.

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 05/01/2020 14:59

“So can't help then. That's..suprising.”

I’ll direct you to my earlier response, regarding your carefully considered opinion.

☕️ for you, NoCountry.

I'm just standing in for the Landlady who is otherwise engaged.

SingingLily · 05/01/2020 15:02

That's a fine piece of needlework, Epic. I'm fairly sure there's something like it on the wall in the snug.

NoCountry · 05/01/2020 15:07

Cheers Singing, much needed!

Oh dear Epic

TheGhostOfEpicPast · 05/01/2020 15:22

Anywaaay... after the spectacular and utterly pointless, playground derail that has ensued since (said ‘delightful’ poster) appeared more than 24 hours ago, what were we all talking about again?

That’s right, potential WW3. Any updates? I see there have been scuffles in and around the Iraqi parliament. Also apparently Iran have made allusions to potential attacks against US military targets tonight... 😬
