As ever, all are welcome - only one rule:

DON'T BE A TWAT!!

Note: I am a shit host, and not a patch on previous Landladies - I don't cook, I don't clean & I don't prepare drinks. I am a selfish bellend. If you want feeding, there's a microwave in back & a shop down the road. If you want drinks just help yourself 😘 - it's a free bar 🎉🥳🎈

Sorry, Horse, can't wait for your response just now. RL stuff to do.

Later, fellow Armers!

horse4course · 16/12/2019 11:47

Ok singing lily. I think Starmer and Benn have kept separate enough from labour leadership to maintain a distance. You're right about the membership though, they're just not remembering that the primary purpose is to get elected.

Epicshit I dip into these threads sometimes but they're quite prolific so of course I don't read everything. It would take me all day! But thanks for the biscuits Smile

time4chocolate · 16/12/2019 11:48

Horse4course I think you will find that a lot of us here have been saying we need a credible opposition for nigh on 3 years - we are all still waiting. This was the widest possible open goal for Labour and they still managed to miss it by a country mile. Hardly the fault of the conservatives (and I say that as a floating voter).

I expect in all likelihood the Labour Party will end up with JC mark 2, which again will not be the fault of the conservatives or any other party.

this should show you most of it

Ha! James O brien? Of all the people...

🤦🏻‍♀️😂😂😂😂 he is as culpable as the rest of them! What a cheek!

howabout · 16/12/2019 11:57

That is where we part company horse. No point getting elected if in order to do so you are obliged to keep on churning out the same manure as the other lot.

The art of politics is to persuade the other side to agree and deliver your agenda - otherwise known as holding them to account. Masterclass from JC.

The electorate got it bang on in 2017 in electing a Hung Parliament because it was patently obvious that neither TM nor JC hidebound by coalition would have delivered Brexit or domestic change.

I still remember Benn arguing for more military intervention to compound the idiocy of Blair. Thankfully I can never stay awake long enough to work out what Starmer is tying pretty legalistic bondage ribbons around - if people laughed at TM's Red lines it was only because they were beyond eyeroll at Sir Keir's "6 tests".

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 16/12/2019 12:01

TBH singing, I am strangely feeling the pull of RL stuff too... 😂

AutumnRose1 · 16/12/2019 12:04

I know James is part of the problem but at least he has a sense of humour, I guess!

conjunctionjunction · 16/12/2019 12:09

Ooops, little bitty correction, I'm not a remainer. Guess there really was some vodka in that water.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 16/12/2019 12:10

“I know James is part of the problem but at least he has a sense of humour, I guess!l

Indeed, I highly recommend them deploying their sense of humour, they are going to need it, it’s what has gotten us through the last nearly 4 years on here, despite the whiny fun sponges constantly coming to shout at us about it. 😂🙄

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 16/12/2019 12:11

“Ooops, little bitty correction, I'm not a remainer. Guess there really was some vodka in that water.”

My question is, was there any water in that vodka? 😂😂😂

DustyDiamond · 16/12/2019 12:20

I read these threads as a remainer sometimes to try to understand how other people think. You don't come across well. An awful lot of gloating and crassness.

Thankfully Jezza's attempts to seize control of free speech, thought & actions were stymied 🙌

You are not obliged to read

We are not obliged to conform

You are free to post your 'observations'

We are free to dismiss them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Other threads are available to you 😊

Even if you are pro-Brexit and support Johnson, he must be faced with an effective opposition. Otherwise you get sloppiness and corruption.

And yet you say you have read our thread Confused

This is exactly what we've discussed at length often & especially over last few days 🙄

I'd like to see Starmer or Benn

😂😂😂😂

If you want Labour out of govt for the foreseeable future, then they're def the top picks!

My question is, was there any water in that vodka?

I'll have a swig of both, one must be the hair of the dog that bit me.

SingingLily · 16/12/2019 12:30

Back for one little minute to say this is also where I part company with Horse.

The greatest threat to democracy is from those who claim they are acting only to defend and preserve it, when in fact they are straining every sinew to hollow it out from the inside and render it meaningless.

Yes, Major, Blair, Bercow, Grieve, Gauke, Letwin, Starmer, Benn, Swinson, Soubry, Gauke, Lee, Sandbach, Thornberry, Long-Bailey, Butler and Abbott - I'm looking at you.

Most of those have gone, thanks to both time and the electorate. Some remain. They are not worth our time and attention because they will never convince any of us that they can change their spots or - given the resounding election victory - that they are still relevant.

Labour needs a fresh clean pair of hands.

Dapplegrey · 16/12/2019 12:31

I’m waiting for someone on another thread to say the election was illegal and therefore invalid!

SilverySurfer · 16/12/2019 12:34

Hi horse4course I don't think Labour has a hope of winning an election while Corbyn, McDonnell and Momentum are pulling the strings, regardless of a new leader. Do you agree?

FUSOI · 16/12/2019 12:50

Well if they don't keep policies then might aswell give in, because milions that haven't had anybody speak for them for decades will just go further and further right wing.

Like this idiot blaming Corbyn
www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/election-2019-50794645/former-labour-mp-phil-wilson-jeremy-corbyn-lost-me-my-seat

Sedgefield 60% Brexit but has turned roaund and told the voters to do one for the last 2 years. He knows better and its up to him. Well its not up to him anymore. But all Corbyns fault. I dislike Corbyn very much but its way over the top, all the Tory supporters want is another Phoney Tony in charge, after all why wouldn't they just another Tory.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 16/12/2019 12:57

“I’m waiting for someone on another thread to say the election was illegal and therefore invalid!”

Don’t fret! Joanna Cherry, Gina miller and Jolyon Maugham et al are probably working on it as we speak.. 😂😂😂

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 16/12/2019 12:59
Confused
SilverySurfer · 16/12/2019 13:00

I don't think so. I really disliked Blair and would prefer not to have a war criminal as PM

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 16/12/2019 13:01

“I don't think so. I really disliked Blair and would prefer not to have a war criminal as PM”

This. Centre left doesn’t have to equate to Blairism.

BoswellSolver · 16/12/2019 13:05

Just listened to James OBrians show....what a bloody nerve he has, calling out momentum for bile and hatred when in the run up and aftermath of the referendum HE was one of the worst!

The momentum lot would gleefully post clips of his anger-fuelled rants on their social media, he was a 'poster-boy' for the left.
His dismissive, condescending attitude was, I believe, partly responsible for the hateful path the left took in their campaigning.
He made it funny, cool, and acceptable to treat people like shit.

Dapplegrey · 16/12/2019 13:30

An awful lot of gloating and crassness.

Horse4course - and you don’t think there would’ve been gloating if labour had won?
Mumsnet would’ve been one vast smug gloatfest
