That's the point. The Scotch-Irish do not self-identify as anything other than American. They have moved on from hyphenated identity because they've been there, multiplying, for several generations longer.

But if the UK started to screw over Ireland, that would change PDQ
they all know which villages their families came from originally

But anyway, I more meant that the reference to them in the song highlights the importance of Irishness to many Americans.

There was always choirs, and bands, and social clubs in NYPD. The Italians formed their own branches and the Irish and the Scots others : usually named after the precinct. So, whilst there may well not be a choir for the entire NYPD there are certainly precinct choirs.
The fire engines often have Scottish/Irish or Italian flags on them, too.

Brexit was supported by every EU member when they signed article 50 in 2009. EU population is about 440 million. US is about 300 million.

I don’t remember the US signing, or having any involvement, in article 50?

Ireland however did sign Article 50 and by doing so they agreed and sanctioned a no deal departure.

UK already trades with the US. So what difference does the opinion of a small number of Irish who currently reside in the USA make?

Who cares? It took from 1939 to 1945 to prevent the World from being controlled by Nazi Germany. UK and US collaboration in WWII saved the world.
