Welcome to the Brexit Arms!

The temporary Landlady is back but worry not, all is festive good cheer with just another three days to go until we reach the Only Poll That Really Matters. Till then, the gloves are still on!

A quick recap of the events of the last week or so:

📋❓💙❤️💛⁉️💙‼️🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😀☹️😀☹️😧😱🙄😬🤥🤔🤕🗳

Anyone of any political persuasion who is prepared to join in, eschew goadery, and enjoy a laugh, welcome. First drinks are on the house.

Squid, things are far away from going well with epic.. Did you only read the first few lines of her post Confused

What about the undercut blue collar section of society, struggling during the credit crunch then severely undermined by millions of blue collar Eastern Europeans?

What about a homeless man outside harrods, selling the big issue.. Nudging us to warn us of beggars from the the continent hovering around us.
He said something like... You wouldn't think life in the UK could get worse for a homeless person and now we have hundreds more at the bottom of the heap to worry about... Robbing us, attacking us.

Families who couldn't get housing because a newly arrived family jumped straight up the list because their need was higher, perhaps younger dc or whatever?

And people wonder why there are food banks now? Really? It just happened over night did it?..

Everything was tickety boo under labour and then all of a sudden food banks suddenly appeared?

The tories have made some big disgusting mistakes, like the transfer from benefits to uc leaving people with no money.

But so have labour. BIGGER mistakes in my view, the country was disgraceful and the stain of thousands of girls abused with people unable to say who by under labour makes me feel deep revulsion.

Labour has become twisted in on itself its got no roots in the working class.

The tories under Boris will be nothing like the tories under Cameron and osbourne.

Different time, different people different budget.

But I never want the sheer horror I lived under when Blair was in charge.

Your audience here is not young and naive.

👆That

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 21:56

“Biggest single thing anyone can do to help climate change? Don't have a (or another) baby. The Conservatives are the only party supporting a two-child limit on state benefits. Labour will pay people to reproduce.”

Fucking great point Limer! And one, that to my shame, I had not previously considered from that perspective.

yolofish · 10/12/2019 21:56

squid without people like you and your colleagues many of us would have no future.

THIS is what voters need to remember on Thursday - do you want a functioning, albeit imperfect, NHS, or do you want to see it sold off piecemeal, by stealth?

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 21:57

“Under Tory voter under 40!?? You are an endangered species for sure ;)”

Not where I live! 😬😂

mummmy2017 · 10/12/2019 21:57

We tried the grown up , she got walk on.
Let the nasty boy have ago, the EU seem to listen to him

DustyDiamond · 10/12/2019 21:58

I'm bored of the sermons now
(I was bored pretty much straight away tbh)

Poll is out in a mo...

DustyDiamond · 10/12/2019 21:59

Tory voter under 40!?? You are an endangered species for sure

Not where I live either Epic

XingMing · 10/12/2019 21:59

Ok, you're all teenage. I'm old enough to have cast my first vote in the 1975 referendum. I cast my vote in 2016 referendum on ny DS's wish, to Leave.

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 21:59

“THIS is what voters need to remember on Thursday - do you want a functioning, albeit imperfect, NHS, or do you want to see it sold off piecemeal, by stealth?”

Remind me again which party introduced privatisation to the NHS?

Comradesally · 10/12/2019 22:00

Yolo after a decade of labour ruining and running down my two local hospitals I'm very happy at the momentum thanks.

Things are very far from perfect of course but at the time (Blair) one of ours was voted worst in UK. People did die in there.

Now they function.... I want sensible over haul of the NHS based on what happens in the best systems in the world, then chuck more money at it and build more hospitals... Get staff from all over the world.

DustyDiamond · 10/12/2019 22:01

Con majority has fallen from 68 to 28 since Nov:

Con 339 (-20)
Lab 231 (+20)
Lib Dem 15 (+2)
SNP 41 (-2)
Plaid 4 (0)
Green 1 (0)
Other 1 (0)

Comradesally · 10/12/2019 22:01

Ugh... Not bloody momentum!! Blush

DustyDiamond · 10/12/2019 22:02

Ok, you're all teenage. I'm old enough to have cast my first vote in the 1975 referendum.

😮

I was born in 75!!!

HateIsNotGood · 10/12/2019 22:02

DS18 is voting Conservative - completely his own decision - he would have voted BXP (unlike his Mum) but there's no BXP candidate here.

mixtap · 10/12/2019 22:02

Squid4

Corporation tax is lower than anywhere in Europe
Wrong!
and the labour plan is to raise to levels that are still lower than they were in 2010.
Why? Don't they want investment and economic growth?
Where would these companies go?
Ireland!

XingMing · 10/12/2019 22:04

DS was a few months off 18, so no, it's not all an old vote to Leave.

yolofish · 10/12/2019 22:05

To me, the NHS issue is mostly due to lack of accountability

Some hospitals were great under Lab, others werent. I think its a pretty much a seesaw as to which have improved and which havent.

Lets get some accountability in: lets get medics and matrons involved on an equal level with politicians/the purse holders in order to establish best practie.

Applepieco · 10/12/2019 22:07

New MRP poll Tory majority at 28. Nothing ruled out from hung parliament to sliding majority.

XingMing · 10/12/2019 22:09

Comrade, people die in hospitals: they arrive there sick and often they
deteriorate and die. That's part of hospital life, surely. Some arrive ill and are cured, sent home. Others, sicker/older, die.

Comradesally · 10/12/2019 22:11

Dusty no!!

I couldn't imagine it.... Waking up to corbyn imagine??

UK plunged into poverty and chaos... Bloody hell...

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 22:12

Oh ffs.

That poll. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I can’t honestly believe people want to live in this smash and grab socialist utopia being sold to them. Well, you know what. If it happens through some hung parliament bollocks, then, I guess at least after 1-2 years people will get to see what all the fuss we were making was about. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not convinced they will like it very much though.
Don’t say we didn’t try to warn you folks!

XingMing · 10/12/2019 22:12

Corporation tax in Eire, for some companies, is 12%. That's why Google/Amazon are HQ'd there FFS. If you're a novelist, there's 0% tax, or used to be. Not a tax accountant, me!

EpicShitDippedBatBiscuit · 10/12/2019 22:13

Better dig out 1984 and practice my two minutes hate.

Comradesally · 10/12/2019 22:13

Xing of course.

But during the last few years of Blair, people who should not have died did. It was utter chaos and several people close to me nealry died due to stupid errors because the hospitals were failing they were not safe.
