The closing date for registration is this Tuesday

The weekend has seen the leaders question time debates.

Johnson failed to answer a question and the BBC edited later edited footage to change laughter at him to applause.

Swinson continues to prove that the Lib Dem campaign planners don't understand the electorate. They based the campaign around her and the more the public see her and the more she opens her gob she proves she's the witless headgirl who really knows fuck all.

Corbyn has now adopted a neutral 2nd referendum position. Far too late.

Jo Johnson apparently said that a good election manifesto is one people aren’t talking about 48 hrs later, and it seems that the Conservatives really have gone for that strategy.

Johnson had promised a manifesto for change yet of the three main parties it seems far from that. It avoids controversy for the most part, but also doesn't offer solutions to some of our biggest problems like social care. But with the Tories so ahead in the polls, the status quo and making sure they don't have a repeat of the 'dementia tax' car crash seems to be the order of the day. Because Brexit is going to going to provide a magic solution instead...

Meanwhile the Labour Party have gone completely the other way and really have gone for it and come up with ideas. With a mixed response from the public and press.

And I still can't tell you what is in the LD one, cos Prince Andrew...

This week should see the election come into focus as postal voting starts. As it stands its hard to bet on anything but a Tory majority.

Piggy nippie sweetie is used in Glasgow.

And I wouldn't necessarily say giving it laldy but gi'en it laldy.

But its definitely a Glasgow term.

Piggywaspushed · 25/11/2019 21:43

I am from Glasgow!! I may be too posh

Giving it (a) laldy to me means getting very excited. We used it for dancing when I was young... memories!

FadingStar · 25/11/2019 21:44

I can't stand Jo Swinson. Her betrayal of women on the issue of Self ID is unforgivable.

Piggywaspushed · 25/11/2019 21:45

I use nippy for the weather : 'it's a wee bit nippy out'...

tobee · 25/11/2019 21:46

@colouringinpro Quite a large number are Labour on that thread. I'd say 75% are not Tory when I just looked. Smile

Random18 · 25/11/2019 21:46

I didn't see the interview so can't comment but yeah I would give it laldy on the dancefloor per second.

I'm Glasgow born too. And my mum says nippy sweetie all the time lol.

Random18 · 25/11/2019 21:47

And yes I would use it for the weather too

Piggywaspushed · 25/11/2019 21:49

Glaswegian is an amazing dialect!

tobee · 25/11/2019 21:50

Fading also what she said about WASPI wanting something for nothing. I mean ffs!

I know it was about joining the LibDem's, but that reply to poster on fwr boards, where they were told,if you're gender critical, the LibDem's are not for you!!!! I mean seriously? Have you ever come across a party saying "don't vote for us" at election time???? Basically, fuck off women if you don't have a penis? You don't matter as much!!!

tobee · 25/11/2019 21:51

Jo Swinson: this emoji was made for you HmmHmmHmmHmmHmmHmm

Random18 · 25/11/2019 21:53

It is.

Even though I live down south now instill try and keep my accent as much as I can.

And make sure the kids know all the Glaswegian dialect.

So they have a piece and jam and have a wee drink of juice.

Our tory MP Chris Whittaker' just got 'Empty chaired' at the 'Climate issues' Hustings in Hebden Bridge Town Hall.....

ALL other parties attended......

The tory doesn't like being grilled on climate esp. if they voted (twice?) against flood spending for their constituents.....

ListeningQuietly · 25/11/2019 22:04

Hebden is not the most Tory town in the world though Grin

I wonder what the turnout will be this election?

Just reading this from the BBC.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2019-50417767

It's interesting to see how the turnout varies - it looks a bit like cities that are probably Labour and Leave constituencies tend to have a lower turnout than other constituencies. I wonder what that means for potential results.

colouringinpro · 25/11/2019 22:15

Listening Yes! I heard him speak after the 2nd March. Myself and the woman I was standing next to found it very moving.

fedup21 · 25/11/2019 22:19

There seems to be far more anger at the Tories and hatred of BJ in particular this election, far more than seemed to be directed at TM in 2017.

colouringinpro · 25/11/2019 22:21

yes fedup but I'm still concerned by the polls...

Dusty01 · 25/11/2019 22:26

seems to be far more anger at the Tories and hatred of BJ in particular this election, far more than seemed to be directed at TM in 2017

That's definitely true - but unfortunately there's also far too much ridiculous BJ adoration.

Alsohuman · 25/11/2019 22:33

The polls are meaningless at this stage. Forget the polls and look at what’s happening on the ground. The Tories are getting a pasting everywhere they go, they’re demonstrably lying through their teeth, they’ve got barely anyone credible to put up for interview and their former MPs are encouraging voting LibDem.

chomalungma · 25/11/2019 22:33

The next TV debate will be interesting

Sky News general election debate, Thursday Nov 28, TBC (Sky News).
The BBC Election Debate, Friday Nov 29, 7pm (BBC One).
The BBC Prime Ministerial Debate, Friday Dec 6, 8.30pm (BBC One).
BBC Question Time special for under-30s, Monday Dec 9, 8:30pm (BBC One).
Emergency on Planet Earth: The Debate, TBC, 7pm (Channel 4)

I hope there is a question on nurses. And hospitals. But especially nurses. And GPs. And police officers.

I (as a posh Glaswegian actually Bearsden/Milngavie Wink) hadn't heard the term "nippy sweetie" until I worked n South Ayrshire (and then Kilmarnock) for a while.

And depending on who says it, I'm not sure that Nicola sees "wee nippy" as a particular insult. The Scots can be funny with their use of insulting nicknames as terms of affection Grin
