It looks like a December General Election is on.

The EU have officially extended A50 until 31st January. We have to name an EU Commissioner though.

All that seems left to do is decide between the 9th and 12th December.

The difference between the two is about whether there is any possibility that the WAB can be passed before Parliament dissolves.

A pre-brexit GE is thought to favour the LDs at the expense of Labour and the Conservatives. What the Brexit Party decide to do and where they decide to stand will also be crucial.

I don't want to seem rude...but in committee stage, it's all very old, white male, isn't it?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/10/2019 19:38

Universities break up all over December. dd breaks up on the 6th.

HateIsNotGood · 29/10/2019 19:39

Nothing else seems to be 'working' although lots of efforts are being exerted. So let's do that and then hopefully we'll have an HoC that can Act and not just go on, and on, and on and do nothing.

Election Night TV will probably beat Corrie and Stenders for viewers at least.

Basilpots · 29/10/2019 19:40

He was wearing some spectacular looking trainers on Newsnight last week very ‘bouncy’ looking think they must help him get up and down. Grin

AutumnCrow · 29/10/2019 19:42

DS signed up for a postal vote before he went back to university. He's registered up there as well. His job now is to spread the word!

tobee · 29/10/2019 19:43

I think we signed everyone up for postal votes in a belt & braces kind of way

TokyoSushi · 29/10/2019 19:43

PMK!

BlueGingerale · 29/10/2019 19:44

I heard it’s the break up date of Brunel Uni in Uxbridge that specifically concerned Boris :)

PotterHead1985 · 29/10/2019 19:45

NoWordForFluffy · 29/10/2019 19:46

6th Dec is so early! My old uni teaches up until 20th Dec. Then it's 2 weeks off before study leave starts.

chomalungma · 29/10/2019 19:46

She's not as good as Bercow on the division!!

AutumnCrow · 29/10/2019 19:47

I'm wondering if Johnson will chicken run if it's the 9th?

Horehound · 29/10/2019 19:47

No, she's no bercrow

chomalungma · 29/10/2019 19:48

That's interesting

I just realised that you can say names of MPs when you say who the Tellers are.

Fascinating...

Violetparis · 29/10/2019 19:48

Is Farage going to put himself forward as an MP ?

Horehound · 29/10/2019 19:49

Oh right so tell me about the tellers and where they stand so we know the result ahead of the rest? How do I know who is who?

prettybird · 29/10/2019 19:50

Aberdeen Uni's 1st semester finishes on 13 December. But unless a student is really unlucky, they won't have exams right up to the end of the week.

The first written exams start on 30 November (and not all subjects have written exams, especially in the 1st 2 years or have "take home" exams that have to be in by a set date - like Philosophy) - so there won't be many left by the end of that last week.

TokyoSushi · 29/10/2019 19:50

I wonder if that should be part of your application for Speaker - Demonstrate how you'd call a Division?!

Basilpots · 29/10/2019 19:50

Is Farage going to put himself forward as an MP ?

He said so.

It’s a secret Shhhh. Apparently.

chomalungma · 29/10/2019 19:50

Oh right so tell me about the tellers and where they stand so we

I think that when they ask for Tellers, they get 2 people who will vote Yes and 2 who vote No - so they cancel each other out. Normally they are the Whips

There was an incident with the Kinnock amendment when no Tellers for No were put up - so that's why it got through,
