Though I did like this comment from BJ about Corbyn "He reminds me of Goldilocks, Mr Speaker - one offer is too hot, one is too cold", that's meme magic right there 😅🤣😅

Epicwaffle · 29/10/2019 15:01

6 mins juice in the sky box and it still wasn’t nearly enough to skip past blackford. HmmHmmHmm

Epicwaffle · 29/10/2019 15:07

Has he pulled it? I’m confused... are they talking about the election or the last one? Confused

Walkingdeadfangirl · 29/10/2019 15:09

He reminds me of Goldilocks, Mr Speaker - one offer is too hot, one is too cold
Boris is a great speaker lol

BelleHathor · 29/10/2019 15:10

This is the debate section for this part, it's why the benches have mostly cleared to strategise for the later votes.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 29/10/2019 15:11

Epicwaffle
Nothing has been pulled, they are currently debating a Dec election.
Will have still to see if any amendments are allowed to be debated.

Epicwaffle · 29/10/2019 15:13

“Nothing has been pulled, they are currently debating a Dec election.”

They were talking about the last time the bill was pulled, my mistake, one eye on here, one eye on there! Grin

Walkingdeadfangirl · 29/10/2019 15:17

I see Swinson has turned up, better late than never.

DustyDiamond · 29/10/2019 15:37

Televising the HoC hasn’t helped MP’s - shows how pathetic they are across the parties. Very little they say is meaningful and wastes so much time.

Absolutely agree with this!

I'm glad it is televised though so we can see how awful some of them really are, but also see the flip side of how good some are as well

DustyDiamond · 29/10/2019 15:40

I haven't been watching!

My water insurance renewal came through at £129 increase 😮😮😮

I've been busy looking for alternatives 🙄

Am mega pissed off that they're pushing for 16 yr olds - shameless politicking

Epicwaffle · 29/10/2019 15:55

“Am mega pissed off that they're pushing for 16 yr olds - shameless politicking”

Me too, they know it won’t fly and Boris is now ‘apparently’ talking of pulling the bill again if that amendment passes. It’s just an engineering ploy, so that Jez the twat can say, “see, we, gave the compromised asked for, but the government didn’t want it!”.

I’m fucking furious with this shit. Angry The duplicitous fuckers are just trying to kill it with a different poison.

I guess we will see what happens later. (Ffs... I sound like a stuck record!)

Parker231 · 29/10/2019 16:11

So if Boris doesn’t get his way, he’s pull the Bill - how pathetic. He can’t bring Bills and not expect amendments.

Hope the amendments are allowed and he looses the votes!

DustyDiamond · 29/10/2019 16:13

What's pathetic is playing politics yet again by amending a bill which is purely about a GE

There may be a place for reducing voting age, but not forced through like this

It's appalling

Parker231 · 29/10/2019 16:17

At a GE those affected should be allowed to vote - 16/17 year olds and those of us who are EU citizens. Tories won’t want this as these groups are unlikely to vote for them.

Epicwaffle · 29/10/2019 16:19

“He can’t bring Bills and not expect amendments.”

Sorry, but I totally disagree, these amendments are significant constitutional changes, that shouldn’t just be rushed through in 5 mins as some sort of thumbed nose tactic to the government.

It’s a cheap shot and yet more smoke and mirrors from the opposition.

I don’t want the bastard bill pulled, not even a little bit, but I want to see a legitimate government consultation on votes for kids.

DustyDiamond · 29/10/2019 16:24

these amendments are significant constitutional changes, that shouldn’t just be rushed through in 5 mins as some sort of thumbed nose tactic to the government.

Exactly.

Regardless of political allegiance or motivations, surely this is a basic & obvious observation?!

To force through stuff like this completely unreasonable

Have proper debate on the subject, but don't ram it through to score cheap points

Peachi82 · 29/10/2019 16:30

But rushing the WA through is OK?
Just asking...........

DustyDiamond · 29/10/2019 16:34

No - quite a few us here were all for proper scrutiny 🤷🏻‍♀️

But the anti-Brexit crowd in Parliament weren't remotely interested in that - they just wanted to add wrecking amendments & waste senseless hours repeating the same soundbites that they've been banging on about for over 3 years

Epicwaffle · 29/10/2019 16:35

“But rushing the WA through is OK?
Just asking...........”

3 1/2 years later, everyone keeps saying it’s Mays Bill 2.0 with a couple of changes, well, fine, in that case, highlight the changes, scrutinise the new bits and get the job done. They had enough time to scrutinise the changed parts. But they want more time. The government offered to extend the time to nov 6th, but that wasn’t good enough either apparently.

The whole thing is a shitshow. Fuck it, maybe we should just no deal instead.

Epicwaffle · 29/10/2019 16:36

And yes, I’m with Dusty, I agreed in principle that more scrutiny was a reasonable ask, but they’ve fucked that option too, by being twats and playing games.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 29/10/2019 16:36

Uncle Grandpa is a twit of the highest order. (I nearly swore then!)

He knows it would take at least 6 months to organise votes for 16-17 year old.

The sooner the duplicitous Labour Party are hopefully obliterated in the election the better.

Epicwaffle · 29/10/2019 16:39

“The sooner the duplicitous Labour Party are hopefully obliterated in the election the better.”

I voted Labour in the past. Never again!! Angry make room for me in that ditch Boris, as I would now only vote for them over my dead body.

time4chocolate · 29/10/2019 16:40

Been stuck in the office today so have missed the Westminster matinee performance. Sounds like it’s going true to form, politicking and advantage gaining. Tres tedious.

Still, on the plus side it’s good for Boris’ People vs Parliament GE campaign.Smile

Twitter post from Donald Tusk

To my British friends,

The EU27 has formally adopted the extension. It may be the last one. Please make the best use of this time.

I also want to say goodbye to you as my mission here is coming to an end. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
