Bloody hell!

Has this pub got a new late licence? Glitterball

All that scrolling through text C&P and screenshotting has hurt my wrist, are there any medical professionals around? WinkGrin. Still, I am getting quite a ‘rogues gallery’ together to give to MN at an “appropriate” time.

Morning all! God, I am not happy that it’s monday. A break from Brexit shenanigans over the weekend has been really great, not looking forward to whatever nonsense today is likely to bring if I’m honest. Confused

I’m tempted to just not bother looking/watching and come here for updates instead Grin.

Loving the memes as usual @DustyDiamond My meme game has been weak of late, I will work on that today. GrinGrin

The UK leaving the EU scares me and I’m dreading how bad it will get but on the positive side, we’re not in the US with Trump at the helm. DH and I are planning on leaving the UK as soon as DT’s finish Uni next year (and hopefully DH has found another GP to take over his surgery) - the US is definitely not on the list of potential countries to move to.

soniamumsnet · 28/10/2019 08:26

So many reports. We're taking a look at this thread now. Let's hope that Monday is a bit calmer. Peace and love. Flowers

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 08:27

“The UK leaving the EU scares me and I’m dreading how bad it will get”

Sorry you are anxious Parker, that sucks SadFlowers.

I’m not particularly concerned or worried, but then again I’m a leaver, so it follows that I feel that some potential concerns that can likely be mitigated have been weaponised to scare people.
If I’m honest, the only thing that truly scares me, is the potential civil disorder if brexit were to be revoked. Are you moving due to brexit? Or just a long held plan?

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 08:33

I hope so @soniamumsnet. It’s a continuous barrage of abuse from people who seem to be very angry that we are here at all, 🤷🏻‍♀️ Anything we say or do, gets ridiculed. There are daily pile ons, with vexatious reporting of perfectly reasonable posts. We get personal attacks, trolling, shapeshifting, gaslighting, slagged off on the other threads, you name it.

Tbf MNHQ, of late, it hasn’t really been a fair fight, as you haven’t seemed as fair and balanced as you are in other areas of the site. I know remain is the golden child of the family, but the other less favourite child could do with a bit of care and attention from time to time! GrinWine

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 08:39

Anyway, landlady, leave a drink behind the bar from me to @soniamumsnet , as it can’t be bloody easy modding the brexit threads... Grin

bellinisurge · 28/10/2019 08:50

I'm not scared about us leaving the EU. Worried for NI but hopefully Wankstain's WA 2.0 should protect GFA.
I'm a general prepper so "hope for the best prepare for the worst " and all points in between. Dd, DH and I all have Irish citizenship so no one has taken EU citizenship from us, particularly dd.

Parker231 · 28/10/2019 08:59

@Epicwaffle - I’m a Belgian citizen - been living in the UK since I was five but the UK isn’t good now for us “foreigners “ I’m incredibly proud of what the EU has achieved and how it continues to work for the best interests of its members. Am even more proud that DD has her placement next term at the EU as a part of her Uni course.

DustyDiamond · 28/10/2019 09:02

I know remain is the golden child of the family, but the other less favourite child could do with a bit of care and attention from time to time!

Actual lol at this 😂

Parker - I'm sorry you're feeling that way, genuinely Brew

I do think uncertainty about the future is the worst thing in any aspect of life though - it's a horrible thing to feel powerless, especially if you're already concerned about something.

Once a decision is made about anything in life it becomes easier (if not better) - everyone knows what they're dealing with & can start taking positive action moving forwards.

I'm expecting some disruption & bumps in the road, but I don't believe the catastrophic predictions that people with an agenda have been pushing.

At the end of the day, I'm powerless to effect change or outcomes in anything in life other than a very few things - I learned long ago to just ride the waves of anything shit & play the cards as & when they're dealt in the best way I can. 💐

TheGirlFromStoryville · 28/10/2019 09:06

Is the vote on the GE today?
Hope it passes - all those in favour of letting the people have their say will be supporting it I'm sure Grin

I think Labour will be toast in the election.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 28/10/2019 09:07

Wise words, Dusty.

DustyDiamond · 28/10/2019 09:10

I hope so Storyville!

Aside from Brexit stuff I think the only way to purge Labour of Jezza & his posse's control is for them to be decimated. Then they'll have the opportunity to regroup & become a proper force again - if this happens there's every chance I'd switch to labour in future GE.

I'm scared shitless he'll get in by accident though 😩

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 09:26

Flextension until Jan agreed by brussels.

🤦🏻‍♀️

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 09:28

Yay, 3 months of the same shit all over again. The GE will almost definitely get blocked now I think.

I could be wrong, but the last 3+ years would strongly suggest otherwise.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 28/10/2019 09:30

Yes if the leave vote is split between Cons and the Brexit Party.
Vote tactically, to avoid splitting the leave vote.

It would be a nightmare if Corbyn gets in. I'd have more respect for him if he was honest about his eurosceptic views, as seen from his voting history.

Although I agree there should be a strong opposition in a good functioning democracy.

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 09:30

I await the inevitable tsunami of petty wrecking amendments to WAB. Groan...

Bearbehind · 28/10/2019 09:32

Well that pisses on BJ’s chips doesn’t it! 😂

Bearbehind · 28/10/2019 09:33

The GE will almost definitely get blocked now I think.

I imagine he might pull the vote since the EU have announced the extension now

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 09:34

On the plus side, at least we wont have that little twat Bercow residing over it all. Let’s hope for a more neutral presence in the chair. ALL sides of the house should want this.

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 09:35

“Well that pisses on BJ’s chips doesn’t it! 😂”

Somewhat yes! Although I hope they pissed vinegar, and it stung on the way out... Grin Grin 🍻

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 09:38

Ugh... 3 more months though... how can we do this for 3. More. Months. ????????

My chips are pretty fucking soggy right now too... Sad. Sending myself some Flowers. Lol.

Parker231 · 28/10/2019 09:38

Thank goodness - at least we don’t have to worry about a no deal or other disaster over the Christmas period.

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 09:45

“Yes if the leave vote is split between Cons and the Brexit Party.
Vote tactically, to avoid splitting the leave vote. “

I fully intend to do this, apparently there is a tactical leave app coming to assist? Funded by AB apparently, yuck, but as long as it’s not totally BXP skewed, it could prove useful. (I found out about it on the westministenders thread, somewhat of an own goal that... 😬😂)

Sunnyuplands · 28/10/2019 09:46

It doesn't have to be 3 months up to the wire though.
It could be done in a week.
It doesn't have to drag on.
Wonder who next speaker will be.

Epicwaffle · 28/10/2019 09:47

“Thank goodness - at least we don’t have to worry about a no deal or other disaster over the Christmas period.”

I am not at all happy about this extension, I consider it to be a total nightmare and a monumental waste of time. However, if the one tiny positive is that your anxiety is reduced a little, then I am happy about that at least. Smile
