Quite coincidentally I too have been in negotiations today regarding the pubs licence and it's good news here as well, a deal has been agreed!!

There were no amendments or legal objections put forward so a shiny new licence has been issued and normal service can be resumed Smile

Same rules apply.

Now let's hope Saturday's proceedings can go ahead without the usual dicking around and that what has been nigh on impossible during the last 3 years, a majority, can be achieved otherwise I feel we are off to hell in a handcart!

First drink is on the house 🍻🍷🍻🍷Cheers

Agreed Bertrand Everything about it works so well. I give you Bambos Charalambous as a close second favourite.

time4chocolate · 19/10/2019 15:05

Oh FFS - that’s all I can manage to type at the mo😡

Can someone please explain it in simple terms? They can't vote on the deal until all legislation for that deal has passed? But the vote will now happen next week (not today).?so does that mean all legislation will be passed tomorrow?

time4chocolate · 19/10/2019 15:07

Just to be clear, my post was about the vote not the tellers names!!

S'ok Time4...

For = 322
Against = 306
(Won by 8)

There's reasonable hope that it will pass this week 🍷

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 19/10/2019 15:08

So another delay?

What a fucking joke. Angry

howabout · 19/10/2019 15:10

Doubt it Dusty Sad

StealthPolarBear · 19/10/2019 15:12

But all the legislation has to pass first, so how ca it
While I suspect I'll be pleased when I understand, I don't really get why this is such a good thing
Plus don't the EU have to agree an extension? When will that issue be resolved?

DustyDiamond · 19/10/2019 15:13

The amendment changed today's vote from a yes/no vote on the deal, to one which basically said 'we've looked at it but withhold approval for now'

It was apparently intended to force BJ's hand into writing letter to request extension to 'give more time' for everything to pass.

On Monday (?) there should be a 'yes/no' vote but don't hold your breath coz the anti-brexit coalition will continue to try everything & anything to frustrate things as much as poss because they've been gifted extra time now to carry on with fucking around.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/10/2019 15:15

As I understand it Stealth the vote today has to go ahead but the Tories are essentially abstaining. Then on Monday the government will put forward the Withdrawal Act Bill which they will vote on on Tuesday.

Monday might get quite interesting once the content of the bill has been published.

DustyDiamond · 19/10/2019 15:20

"I will not negotiate a delay with the EU and neither does the law compel me to do so."

😂😂😂

He has to write the letter, but the surrender act doesn't compel him to negotiate anything

MPs now getting upset because they are having to do Brexit next week now 🙄

No shred of irony that they essentially neutralised today's motion

StealthPolarBear · 19/10/2019 15:27

And the WAB is this legislation that needs to pass before the vote on the WA, right?

HateIsNotGood · 19/10/2019 15:36

Well, to me it looks like HoC has just shafted the EU - like they really don't care what all this delay and uncertainty is doing to the other 27 countries..

I've just been sucked into the debate and vote for the past 2 hrs.

I found out via the BBC that the PV March has been rebranded to a 2nd Ref March.

Sorry for late response 54321 but you haven't actually lost your job or any of the other things that you have said you have lost have you? You're just speculating about that aren't you?

bellinisurge · 19/10/2019 15:42

Johnson's deal is more likely to get through with the Letwin Amendment safety net. If your boy wasn't such a big liar and a turncoat, we wouldn't have needed a safety net.

PulpPixie · 19/10/2019 15:45

It’s a joke. It’s like they want a No Deal. I hope the EU says no to an extension.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 19/10/2019 15:46

Actually Stealth scrap that. It looks like they might be going for another meaningful vote on the deal on Monday instead.

StealthPolarBear · 19/10/2019 15:49

So the legislation will all be passed tomorrow? Taht seems difficult

HateIsNotGood · 19/10/2019 15:51

Whatever, bellin, I have more respect for people than to consider I own them. I thought ideas of 'owning people' had disappeared, at least in the UK. Clearly not, when you insist on using such terminology, it defines who you are and not who I am.

54321go · 19/10/2019 15:51

Hate
Yes I have, not that you would care. And with it goes employment for a couple of others (my sub subcontractors) at least in the UK.

For those blathering about delays. negotiations on trade and a host of other things will be continuing for another 2 or 3 years as a minimum.

The Transition period proposed by the EU, who had dozens of lawyers working on the details, were of the opinion that 2 years to get the transition arrangements sorted out would be 'VERY tight' and that is assuming the UK actually decides hat it wants NOT what it doesn't want. So practically it will be another 6 months to a year of the UK government buggering around trying to work out what it wants, then another 2 or 3 years to negotiate it with the EU, and if it goes to WTO deals then 5 to 10 years of negotiations, again IF the UK decides what it wants.

DustyDiamond · 19/10/2019 15:53

All in all, I expect to see another Tory bounce in the polls off the back of today.

The sooner we get a GE the better.

In the meantime I continue to #PrayForSally
& now I add David to my thoughts as he, too is being held hostage by Sally's toxic family

#PrayForSally
#PityForDave

🙏🕯

howabout · 19/10/2019 15:56

Rafals issue with that is there will likely be a 2nd Ref amendment tabled and if that passes then the ERG and probably everyone else will abandon the Deal.

Being mooted that BJ will send letter but EU27 will not respond to it till after Monday's vote. So MPs end up gambling on getting extension for 2nd Ref on a Deal they will have rejected. Sad

On today's performance I do not believe for one second that Letwin, Hammond, Clarke, Gauke, Boles etc will support Deal without 2nd Ref. DUP suggesting they would also lend support for 2nd Ref. Labour supporters of the Deal will not see the point in supporting it in these circs.

Imo the Deal is dead.

Roll on the GE

DustyDiamond · 19/10/2019 16:03

That makes sense Howabout

ERG were very clear that the deal had their 100% support all the way through including legislation providing it was unamended

They will back off & BJ will lose if 2nd ref added

HateIsNotGood · 19/10/2019 16:07

Actually 54321 I am sorry to hear that, I hope you manage to start a new business and the 2 subcontractors find new contracts soon. Hopefully you can all do things that don't rely on UK EU membership, although we haven't actually left yet, so it was probably the uncertainty that screwed your business.

There have been numerous job losses over the years in my area (not Brexit related) so I do understand how upsetting it is when you get the rug pulled out from under you.

Sunnyuplands · 19/10/2019 16:08

Boris Johnson my boy!!

Oh I love to get his face in my paws and squoosh those cutie wootie cheeks together and smooch his face with a large kiss...My Boy! Smooth his hair and polish him down. Proud of my boy Grin

StealthPolarBear · 19/10/2019 16:10

"Imo the Deal is dead"
Everything you've said sounds right but the one thing I've learned from all this is when everyone is predicting what will happen, none of the predictions turn out to be the case and some thing totally different happens. And then everyone talks like it was obvious thay was going to happen all along
