Brexit Arms - Pop Up

time4chocolate · 09/10/2019 18:16

Well I’m going to have a crack at this Landlady business and I’ve opened a pop up pubSmile.

Rules are:
Anything brexit related is up for discussion and even not Brexit related if you feel the need (so if you want to discuss Haemoroids that’s ok too Wink).

I’m ok with a bit of arseyness (it’s an emotive subject) but if you go full monty in here I reserve the right to withhold all alcoholic beverages.

I have reserved a quiet table for MNHQ if they want to pop in for a quiet drink (Happy Hour is 6-7pmSmile).

Haven’t properly caught up yet with today’s Brexit news yet but looks like we are finally facing end game, that said still plenty of days left for high jinks and holidays.

Anyone have any views on how they think the next few days will play out are welcome to voice here.

First drinks are on the house WineWine 🍻 Cheers

Boris needs to get us out of the EU and start arresting some lawyers and Judges

There’s a name for that, and it sure ain’t “democracy”.

ContinuityError · 17/10/2019 06:42

Can Nigel be an MP and a MEP at the same time ?

No. It’s one or the other.

bellinisurge · 17/10/2019 06:53

"Boris needs to get us out of the EU and start arresting some lawyers and Judges."

I hope you've had a decent sleep and a chance to reflect on that stupid statement. If not, fuck off.

Nice 🤔

frumpety · 17/10/2019 07:16

Thanks ContinuityError , I thought that was the case , so to be an MP he would need to stand down from his job as an MEP first ?
If we do exit in a couple of weeks, how long will it be before people start to notice the differences of Brexit ?
We will essentially still be in the EU until the end of December 2020 , unless an extension to the transition is agreed in July next year. I cannot see how the UK would be able to agree all the FTA's etc it needs before the end of next year, so an extension to the transition would be required ? I wonder how long that extension would be for ?
So if an WA is agreed, we will probably remain in the EU until 2022 ? Or at least that's the way I am reading it ?
Cue leavers saying the sky hasn't fallen in whilst ignoring the fact that the UK is still in the EU ?

Preferably neither.

How can people be so angry at 06.53 in the morning?

frumpety · 17/10/2019 07:33

So to recap from my previous post , Johnson's 'deal' means staying in the EU for the next couple of years ? No wonder there's bugger all info on the Get ready for Brexit site , no need to worry for a good long while yet ?

time4chocolate · 17/10/2019 07:37

Can Nigel be an MP and a MEP at the same time?

No, but he could stand down. However, I reckon he would prefer to stay an MEP which, as I voted him back in there, is fine with me.

Farage has already publicly stated that he will stand in the next GE - if elected he would need to stand down as an MEP. He hasn’t said which seat he would stand for though - maybe waiting to see if there are any dolphins standing so he can avoid being Flippered again?

time4chocolate · 17/10/2019 08:05

So he will either be an MP or continue as an MEP then, either way it certainly doesn't look like he is finished (which was one of the main reasons for calling the ref in the first place).

Unbelievable. Who else should he arrest? Journalists who don't agree with him? Intellectuals?

bellinisurge · 17/10/2019 08:23

The DUP is fucking it up for you now. Not MPs. Not judges. Not the meedya. The DUP.

Parker231 · 17/10/2019 08:24

Brexit: DUP says it cannot support customs terms in Boris Johnson’s deal

Makes a change.
Anyway, as the saying goes it ain’t over till the fat lady sings. Let’s see what happens in next few hours.

Who are you going to blame if it's the DUP (hint: it was always the DUP).

time4chocolate · 17/10/2019 08:50

Right now, probably everyone!!

Does anybody know what the DUP do want? What is their ideal scenario given that Brexit mainly seems to increase the risk to the union? If they are responsible for a hard crash out that fucks up NI - surely won"t go over too well with their voters. But I suppose the same goes if they agree to something that doesn't work for them.

Also it's not just DUP but ERG MP's who have said they won't support unless DUP are down with it. Although ERG will be hoping for a hard crash out and don't give a stuff about NI.

ContinuityError · 17/10/2019 09:13

Does Arlene have a good singing voice? Smile

What they want is a reinstatement of a hard border in Ireland. They voted against GFA. They block against abortion rights and equal marriage.
These are the people you need to please now.
