Brexit Arms - Pop Up

Well I’m going to have a crack at this Landlady business and I’ve opened a pop up pubSmile.

Rules are:
Anything brexit related is up for discussion and even not Brexit related if you feel the need (so if you want to discuss Haemoroids that’s ok too Wink).

I’m ok with a bit of arseyness (it’s an emotive subject) but if you go full monty in here I reserve the right to withhold all alcoholic beverages.

I have reserved a quiet table for MNHQ if they want to pop in for a quiet drink (Happy Hour is 6-7pmSmile).

Haven’t properly caught up yet with today’s Brexit news yet but looks like we are finally facing end game, that said still plenty of days left for high jinks and holidays.

Anyone have any views on how they think the next few days will play out are welcome to voice here.

First drinks are on the house WineWine 🍻 Cheers

So basically you're just making shit up?

Which is fine - it's a pub not a law court - but let's be honest about it.

Voila212 · 09/10/2019 22:46

Funny how it's only pro brexit sites like the telegraph and daily express who are carrying the story.

SegregateMumBev · 09/10/2019 22:55

Evening, can I gave a large white, anything but sauv blanc.

( when did that become house white everywhere? Can't stand it, tastes of nettles)

I'd love revoke, rethink, clear proposals and another referendum. But in my dreams.....

No deal is the stuff of nightmares, I'd be Ready to accept a range of deals that would avoid that. I'd have accepted Teresa mays deal, or an NI backstop.

I'm in Norn Irn, our special circumstances need to be factored in. And irelands acceptance of the deal is crucial.

time4chocolate · 09/10/2019 22:55

I’m not making ‘shit up’, he went there did he not? Why? Don’t tell me you actually believe it was for cake and tea? He’s outside his remit and not acting impartially but heyho it’s not going to change anything, he’s just having his last hoorah.

praps Bercow was on a booze cruise as well? damn good plan, I need to do one... anyway I'd support Bercow (or in fact almost anyone) for PM at the moment, rather than the current fuckwitted incumbent. I do hope that doesnt break any MN talk guidelines, another glass of red please?

Mistigri · 09/10/2019 23:12

You used the word "colluding". You have no evidence for this ie you're making shit up. Another word for it is "libel".

StarbucksSmarterSister · 09/10/2019 23:16

fraternising with the enemy no less.

The EU are not the enemy ffs.

DustyDiamond · 09/10/2019 23:48

Bercow is a shit.

He did some good stuff initially with modernising Parliament etc but since the ref he's completely disregarded any semblance of impartiality.

I'm undecided as to who I'd like as next speaker at the mo - Chris Bryant is my fave currently

time4chocolate · 09/10/2019 23:57

Mistigri yes of course it is 🤦‍♀️ Re-read my post it says 'at best meddling, at worst colluding'.

I love the way you don't mince your words Dusty

I've seen Lyndsey Hoyle in action and thought he wasn't too bad, I'll admit I don't know much about him though. In my opinion you'll have to go a long way to better Betty if only for being able to keep a roomful of mostly men in their place. She was a formidable woman.

He’s supposed to exude impartiality and he clearly isn’t. Are any of us in doubt as to which side of the debate he identifies with?

In that case, he’s not been conducting himself properly.

Speaking as someone who voted remain, and would still do so, I do tend agree with you Brexit voting folk on this one.

DustyDiamond · 10/10/2019 00:27

😂 I have teenage boys - mincing of words is not an option if I want to stay dominant!

Lyndsey's been alright in action, agree

One of the Tory candidates wants to bring back knee breeches & wigs 😂

A few have been pretty scathing about Bercow

Brexit has taken a back seat today to the WAG drama though 😳

Lonelycrab · 10/10/2019 00:34

Brexit has taken a back seat today to the WAG drama though

And there lies half of the problem. Apathy and heil stories about Megan are about as important as the demise of the U.K. hey ho. This Bercow chap is frightful though isn’t he😐

DustyDiamond · 10/10/2019 00:39

There's more to life than Brexit 🤷🏻‍♀️

And it was v amusing scrolling through all the no context Hearn clips that were posted in response

Lonelycrab · 10/10/2019 00:46

There's more to life than Brexit

How it pans out will define our lives.

Lonelycrab · 10/10/2019 00:47

Unlike things on the internet Hmm

bellinisurge · 10/10/2019 05:37

Nancy Pelosi met Bercow at the beginning of last month. It couldn't be .... like ... a normal thing speakers do ... it must be a deepstateremoanerconspiracy 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Starbucks was having a go at sarcasm and failing re the fraternising with the enemy Blush

Mistigri · 10/10/2019 06:23

Re-read my post it says 'at best meddling, at worst colluding'.

I've read it thanks.

The words meddling and colluding are just "making shit up" because you have no idea what he did and no evidence that he did anything that could have damaged the UK's interests.

We are not at war with the European Parliament (it doesn't even have much of a role in Brexit), and meeting your peers is a perfectly normal part of any senior job role. As someone else pointed out, he also met Pelosi recently.

time4chocolate · 10/10/2019 07:04

Mistigri 🤷‍♀️I'm really not actually all that bothered by Bercows meeting so if you want to call it 'making shit up' then that's fine. I would say though that if the shoe was on the other foot and Bercow was showing a definite leaning towards no deal then of course meddling/colluding/scheming/interfering, call it what you like it wouldn't be at the forefront of your mind at all? No of course it wouldn't, he would just be carrying out his impartial duties.

Anyway new dawn, new day.

Exactly, anything remainers do is always totally above board & legit.
It’s only leavers who are capable of anything dodgy.
< yawn >

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 10/10/2019 07:09

And imo, Bercow is an EU loving remainer arse.

bellinisurge · 10/10/2019 07:18

Our evil unelected Parliament trying to stop the fair and true dream of Brexit 😂😂

time4chocolate · 10/10/2019 07:21

Think I could probably agree with you there dirtyrotten which leads me to now ponder on the following question:

Was the car sticker really his wife's? Grin
