Brexit Arms - Pop Up

time4chocolate · 09/10/2019 18:16

Well I’m going to have a crack at this Landlady business and I’ve opened a pop up pubSmile.

Rules are:
Anything brexit related is up for discussion and even not Brexit related if you feel the need (so if you want to discuss Haemoroids that’s ok too Wink).

I’m ok with a bit of arseyness (it’s an emotive subject) but if you go full monty in here I reserve the right to withhold all alcoholic beverages.

I have reserved a quiet table for MNHQ if they want to pop in for a quiet drink (Happy Hour is 6-7pmSmile).

Haven’t properly caught up yet with today’s Brexit news yet but looks like we are finally facing end game, that said still plenty of days left for high jinks and holidays.

Anyone have any views on how they think the next few days will play out are welcome to voice here.

First drinks are on the house WineWine 🍻 Cheers

Chief medical officer of the nhs has come out and said lives will be at risk and there may be deaths. Also she can't guaranteed there won't be shortages of medication and technology. Sure what's a few deaths, it's probably project fear. What would a chief medical officer working daily in the nhs know.

“Popping in as an ex-leaver to say I come in peace and pp should really fuck off and stop chucking pointless insults in here angry

I'd really like to chat/discuss in a civilised way”

Welcome and cheers to you Wine. It’s awful isn’t it? after 3 1/2 years of this shit, it’s actually all made me quite teary this morning (not normal for me).

I am so incredibly sad that it’s all come to this because of a democratic vote and a difference of opinion on a political customs union.

Sad
MockersthefeMANist · 10/10/2019 13:07

It is a sad reality that leavers are cheerfully quoting Two World Wars in which over a million military and 70,000 civillians died as their benchmark for what is acceptable.

time4chocolate · 10/10/2019 13:08

Mustard I’m hoping things may become clearer over the next few days. Think I may just lose my s*t if we have to go through yet another extension. Speaking from my own personal experience I have found social media not representative of RL at all, there is a lot of keyboard warrior type behaviour around. I step away from it regularly otherwise it sucks you in and before you know it you are hitting the refresh button constantly and there is much better uses of time.

I have started this thread (beginning to wish I hadn’t now😉) so am posting a bit more regularly but I would normally just pop onto a discussion for a bit and then retreat and either lurk for a bit or just plain ignore and get on with other stuff. That way seems to keeps me firing on all cylinders (plus i’ve got a skin as thick as a rhino too which probably helps😂).

If anyone here has done that, then you should report them.

I certainly don't take any pleasure in the confusion and upset being caused to leavers and can't understand why pp are targeting their anger at you - you voted in good faith and you believe in good faith, it isn't your fault that things have turned out as they have.

Notthebloodymustardcushion · 10/10/2019 13:10

Quite fail... that was to mockers.

ArseDarkly · 10/10/2019 13:15

time4chocolate I think you have to brace yourself for the next extension - probably a 3 month, there's really no way it can legally be avoided now.

Notthebloodymustardcushion · 10/10/2019 13:15

time

“(plus i’ve got a skin as thick as a rhino too which probably helps😂).”

Me too usually! It just feels so relentless and nasty. I totally understand that rightly people feel strongly one way or the other, but the insults are just off the scale now.

As usual, it has completely de-railed any attempt at a sensible conversation, which I guess was the whole point.

I will take some time out if I need to, thank you time, good advice there! FlowersGin Smile

“time4chocolate I think you have to brace yourself for the next extension - probably a 3 month, there's really no way it can legally be avoided now.”

God, I really hope not. I honestly think things are going to hit the skids really fast if that happens. I think you are probably right though.

Think it would be better to say ‘some’ leavers. I don’t think anyone on here has said that and it’s certainly not my benchmark.

You don’t have to post here if you find it tedious or you could even hide the thread.I find Westministenders threads tedious for their whinging about Leavers etc so I choose not to post on them.

Same here.

Notthebloodymustardcushion · 10/10/2019 13:21

I’m not sure the economy can withstand another delay. And before I get flamed with the usual “stupid thick unicorn believer, that’s what you voted for”. No, endless delays and unecessary uncertainty are most certainly not what I voted for.

MockersthefeMANist · 10/10/2019 13:25

Agreed: "Some" leavers, not here.

ArseDarkly · 10/10/2019 13:27

Thing is, something has to change and there's not enough time for that to happen before the deadline now. Realistically, the only way out of the deadlock is a GE, that takes time of course and also Labour have stated that they will not consent until the possibility of no-deal has been removed.

MockersthefeMANist · 10/10/2019 13:30

The May Deal would have passed if the likes of BJ & Mogg had backed it. Now Tory MPs who voted for the May Deal have been expelled for not being true believers.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 10/10/2019 13:31

3 months won't solve anything. Years are needed to dirt this out thoroughly and effectively without anyone suffering.

DustyDiamond · 10/10/2019 13:32

plus i’ve got a skin as thick as a rhino too which probably helps

As do I 😂

People lashing out on social media is irritating, but doesn't rile me up at all - just think it's pathetic really.

I'd be bothered if someone berated me like that over Brexit in real life, face to face, but funnily enough it never happens!

It's very easy & risk free to be a dick on an anonymous forum 🤷🏻‍♀️

ArseDarkly · 10/10/2019 13:34

3 months is time enough for a GE in which all parties can state their final Brexit resolution strategy and people can vote accordingly. The ramifications of Brexit will go on for the rest of my life that's for certain but an immediate resolution - i.e. leaving or staying - can be decided in 3 months. Or maybe 6...

Notthebloodymustardcushion · 10/10/2019 13:36

“The May Deal would have passed if the likes of BJ & Mogg had backed it. Now Tory MPs who voted for the May Deal have been expelled for not being true believers.”

Agreed, I was actually previously pretty angry about this, however the latest language from the EU does suggest that the concerns Boris et al had re; the backstop being a cynical to lock us in indefinitely with none of the benefits, look less tin hat now than it previously did, and I am beginning to understand why they rejected it.

Notthebloodymustardcushion · 10/10/2019 13:37

‘Cynical ploy’

ArseDarkly · 10/10/2019 13:38

Anyone that wants a laff - pretty sure this is funny whether you're a leaver or remainer

This has actually happened to me, from peoole who were supposedly friends. Sad

bellinisurge · 10/10/2019 13:46

Pretty sad that Leavers on here make no attempt to bring people like me onside. I had moved from Remain to an Orderly Brexit. But apparently that's not pure enough.
Oh well. I'm a general prepper with a right to an Irish passport. So I'm alright, Jack. Does it make me a true BeLeaver if I no longer give a shit about anyone else?
