Brexit Arms - Pop Up

Well I’m going to have a crack at this Landlady business and I’ve opened a pop up pubSmile.

Rules are:
Anything brexit related is up for discussion and even not Brexit related if you feel the need (so if you want to discuss Haemoroids that’s ok too Wink).

I’m ok with a bit of arseyness (it’s an emotive subject) but if you go full monty in here I reserve the right to withhold all alcoholic beverages.

I have reserved a quiet table for MNHQ if they want to pop in for a quiet drink (Happy Hour is 6-7pmSmile).

Haven’t properly caught up yet with today’s Brexit news yet but looks like we are finally facing end game, that said still plenty of days left for high jinks and holidays.

Anyone have any views on how they think the next few days will play out are welcome to voice here.

First drinks are on the house WineWine 🍻 Cheers

Got a bit delayed, but I'm here now. Many thanks time4, a pint of Best please, and I'll go stare at the fire for awhile.

ContinuityError · 15/10/2019 19:36

It’s very MN though (apparently) - I’d never heard of it before seeing it on here.

Thankfully, DH knows nothing of this (fortunately this “thing” Hmm seems to have escaped Pistonheads).

Ah, that'll be the workers rights then.

HateIsNotGood · 15/10/2019 19:48

'Numberbackwardsgo' - not assuming anything about what you're driving at, but are you assuming that "workers rights" are about to be thrown onto some sort of fire/bonfire? If that is the case then you could also insert any 'rights' into that scenario too.

However I don't think that the UK leaving the EU will result in a 'bonfire of rights'.

Excuse me if you meant something else entirely, but then you did interrupt my 'staring at the fire', which I really do enjoy doing whilst quaffing a pint or 5.

Just to clarify neither had I and glad to hear that all remains good on Pistonheads - phew!!

What night is Quiz Night? Teams of 1 - no Google, etc allowed. And a pint of Best and a packet of Twiglets please. I see 'H' has moved from the comfy fireside chair, so I'm going to plonk my arse over there.

time4chocolate · 15/10/2019 20:04

Hate sorry quiz nights are off, tried it once and everyone thought their answer was the right one and it all went tits up very quickly Wink.

ContinuityError · 15/10/2019 20:19

Last quiz I played we had a Geography graduate on the team - part way through the “Rivers & Mountains” round he admitted that he didn’t actually know the names of any rivers or mountains or where they might be in the world. After we’d played our joker.

He partially redeemed himself by knowing Lady Gaga’s real name.

HateIsNotGood · 15/10/2019 20:23

Yes, I expect so. Anyway, looks like a quiet night tonight; I'll probably just have Pint 3 and go for an early exit myself.

You're a great LL - I couldn't (wouldn't) do it, so thanks.

Burpsandrustles · 15/10/2019 20:28

Evening everyone, are we all gathering into this cosy Inn, to see what the night brings.

I'll have hot milk and baileys please...

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 15/10/2019 20:38

Yes, apparently a deal is ‘imminent’

I’ll believe it when it actually happens.

Bearbehind · 15/10/2019 20:40

I still don’t get this - even if BJ agrees a deal with the EU tonight (which is likely to be the sea border option), how the feck does he get it through parliament?

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 15/10/2019 20:43

This is it.
Parliament won’t agree it.
Or maybe they will this time just to get it over with?

HateIsNotGood · 15/10/2019 20:47

Chuckle from the corner over here - a bit tired of hearing the 'pathways, tunnels' analogies and today's references to agreement, texts throught the 'process', popped out for a pint (or 5).

It's going to play out however it plays out - keeping abreast of every single nuance/interpretation is not good for the soul.

Pint 4 please LL, and one for yourself.

54321go · 15/10/2019 20:47

The ERG have previously expressed an interest in reducing workers rights in the UK, along with the disaster capital plans.

time4chocolate · 15/10/2019 20:49

how the feck does he get it through parliament?

That's the six million dollar question Bear it's going to be very interesting and I would imagine it's going to be squeaky bum time in Westminster.

Also cant help wondering if we may all be being led a bit of a dance here.

Don't mind if I do Hate 🍻

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 15/10/2019 20:56

I don't think it's got a hope in hell of passing. No way will Labour vote for something which destroys workers' rights.

DUP? Doubt it.

Rebels? Indies? SNP? Nope.

I just don't think it's got the numbers.

ContinuityError · 15/10/2019 20:58

Also cant help wondering if we may all be being led a bit of a dance here.

As in?

Burpsandrustles · 15/10/2019 20:58

Tunnel and path analogies indeed. They need to get with Sally the bear 🐻.

😂.

Why led a dance, time for chocolate?

I wonder what the other parties say behind closed doors...
'shall we veto whatever they come back with?' I wonder if they actually say things like that out loud?

HateIsNotGood · 15/10/2019 20:59

Numersgo - I'm not disposed towards any views that may or may not be held by ERG or anyone else towards degrading UK worker's rights. It doesn't necessarily equate that a vote cast for Leave=eroding worker's rights.

Quite separately - Is there something actually happening with EU/UK negotiations? Has some form of agreement to take to HoC in a bare form been reached?

I would be on a rare visit to the Pub when things actually happen, bloody typical.

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 15/10/2019 21:00

So it’s no deal?

But that’s banned.

So we stay because nothing will ever be agreed & we can’t leave without a deal?

Think I’ll have a double vodka & forget all about it Grin
