Brexit Arms - Pop Up

Well I’m going to have a crack at this Landlady business and I’ve opened a pop up pubSmile.

Rules are:
Anything brexit related is up for discussion and even not Brexit related if you feel the need (so if you want to discuss Haemoroids that’s ok too Wink).

I’m ok with a bit of arseyness (it’s an emotive subject) but if you go full monty in here I reserve the right to withhold all alcoholic beverages.

I have reserved a quiet table for MNHQ if they want to pop in for a quiet drink (Happy Hour is 6-7pmSmile).

Haven’t properly caught up yet with today’s Brexit news yet but looks like we are finally facing end game, that said still plenty of days left for high jinks and holidays.

Anyone have any views on how they think the next few days will play out are welcome to voice here.

First drinks are on the house WineWine 🍻 Cheers

I have difficulty understanding how people can think that we revoke and it all goes back to normal and we never speak of it again.

Same here.

There'll be a huge amount of shit if A50 is revoked.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 20:09

Where will it end?

God only knows, but that’s what you get when people chose something for which there is no plan and continue to labour under the illusion that it will be better than it is now with no idea on how to make it so

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 20:10

Would this be threats of civil disobedience? I thought we didn't give in to that sort of thing.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 20:11

There'll be a huge amount of shit if A50 is revoked.

Sadly, for all the difference it will make to the majority who support leave, if it was spun well, they’d never know the difference

DustyDiamond · 13/10/2019 20:12

And I thought that my vote would be respected 🤷🏻‍♀️

Conservative party become a 'good Brexit deal' party

This actually made me laugh out loud ! they have to be out of power to come up with a decent plan ? Why ?

Corbyn increases immigration massively

Why would he ? Who is immigrating here ? those who Leavers have been telling us for the last few years that should be allowed to immigrate here because its fairer ?

Hatred for the EU grows, every little thing that happens is blamed on the EU

Depends, ask the media, if we don't leave, sure the odd story will pop up, but this isn't the only subject that sells.

UK stagnates (at best) over the next 5-10 years as uncertainty over UKs future in the EU.

Simply answered by:
Remain wins referendum by 99% as leavers boycott because no leave option is offered. If UK remains, then uncertainty is over Smile

I get that nothing would please you more for us to say that but no-one actually has. As you should know by now the power is, on the whole, at the ballot box (see EU elections as an example) no need for tommy Robinson type behaviour.

labour under the illusion that it will be better than it is now with no idea on how to make it so
That is why you cant comprehend it. It will be better because we would be out the EU. We achieve that by leaving the EU.
You seem to be using the word better to mean something different than Brexiteers use it to mean.

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 20:16

You should tell the people who live around my area to dial down the Tommy Robinson behaviour. New Yaxley Lennon loving stickers and graffiti all the time.

Bearbehind · 13/10/2019 20:18

Yes, because far as you’re concern it’s just about saying we’re no longer in the EU.

There aren’t any other positives

And that doesn’t counter the known negatives

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 20:19

Remainers are funny thinking Brexit would end just by revoking. They are still under the delusion that we are all so stupid, that a nice cat meme will distract us from being trapped in the EU forever. roflmao

frumpety Labour has already said at their conference, just a few weeks ago, that they back unlimited freedom of movement.

bellinisurge · 13/10/2019 20:23

But I don't think that @Walkingdeadfangirl

54321go · 13/10/2019 20:26

UK stagnates (at best) over the next 5-10 years as uncertainty over UKs future in the EU.
The UK will stagnate as the Tories have spent many Billions buggering around and have put impediments in the way to 'normal' productivity, plus the world economy has contracted somewhat, not helped by spats between the USA and China and 'tariff wars, and of course the actual wars that are ongoing. All of which have bugger all to do with the EU but Walkingdeadfangirl and her mates are not clever enough to understand the real factors because she is blinkered into 'hating' the EU which has so clouded her head that she is just totally irrational.
How can you 'hate' something you can't identify?
ALL Laws enacted in the UK were passed by UK politicians, NOT EU.
If you are a 'criminal' then a UK policeman will appear on your doorstep.

Owlsintowels · 13/10/2019 20:27

@Walkingdeadfangirl what options do you think will be offered which don't include leave? Surely revoke/remain is one option, what other one is there?

Why/how would Corbyn increase immigration massively? Two further questions to this, didn't the tories have substantially higher immigration than they needed to within the EU? And surely there is an argument that under our new trade agreements we'll have much more immigration, because new countries which previously didn't have many visas will have substantially more? Eg China, India, they won't agree trade deals without shit loads of visas. We'll just be replacing one set of immigrants for another set. And presumably many of the Europeans who want to migrate here have already done so, whereas with floodgates open to other further away countries we'll get new influxes

Maybe under this scenario we can share some of our EU hatred out to other countries.

Interesting timeline anyway. Do you really think that's the most likely way it'll go over the next decade? I have no idea, but I do see big holes in what you're predicting

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 20:28

because she is blinkered into 'hating' the EU
FYI I have said before and do again. I do not hate the EU. Just saying.

Lonelycrab · 13/10/2019 20:34

Brilliant 😂

Walkingdeadfangirl · 13/10/2019 20:39

I was only speculating

  1. Corbyn has already said he wants a 2nd referendum
  2. Corbyn has said it would be between remain and staying (in the SM, CU etc)
  3. Corbyn has already said the SNP can have a 2nd ref
  4. If Brexit doesn't happen there is a good chance Farage will win a seat in a strong leave area.
  5. I dont think Conservatives will become a remain party.
  6. Labour have said they want unlimited immigration
  7. I do think there will be backlash against revoking.
  8. I don't think revoking brings certainty, their will still be pressure for Brexit. Why would a company invest in the UK knowing it might vote to leave the EU in 5-10 years?
  9. Whatever the reason if the UK doesn't become richer over the next decade revoking could get the blame.
frumpety · 13/10/2019 20:43

Quite right too , you are like Boris, he loves Europe, although his love may extend to a more biological affection than yours, given his prowess and what not ?

HateIsNotGood · 13/10/2019 20:46

Oh blimey - been busy and thought I'd go out for a pint - but the pub looks a bit rowdy. Never mind, I'll just take my seat in the corner and wait for the lunchtime crowd to filter their way home.

I don't think anything hugely different has happened since Friday (Brexit-wise) so have nothing to add to the 'mudslinging soup'.

Excellent ale LL, so that's another pint please, a packet of Twiglets and one for yourself.

Burpsandrustles · 13/10/2019 20:51

Hate, do close eyes and spare a thought for Sally as her candle burns in the... Special corner...

Burpsandrustles · 13/10/2019 20:54

I adore Europe, I just don't need to adore it through the prism of joined political ideologies and feel the desire to adorn myself in blue paint.

DustyDiamond · 13/10/2019 20:56

Don't look back in anger Sally

🕯🙏❤️

‘Barnier told diplomats for the member states that the latest British customs proposals for the Irish border remained an “untested” risk that the bloc could not countenance. He said that it would require a fresh “political impulse” from Johnson for a deal to be realisable this week.

On the UK’s proposed Stormont veto on Northern Ireland staying in the EU’s single market for goods, the Irish representative told the room that such an arrangement was “not a notion that is included in the Good Friday agreement”.
