Dusty, is there a link for this please? I'd like to see what is being said.

The usual political journalists on twitter - a few have commented similar

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 16:12

Dusty have seen stuff from LK etc on twitter speculating that SNP pushing but Labour might not go for it, but nothing that quotes/references a Labour source.

Well, we'll soon find out how it all plays out, who knows where we could end up.

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 16:16

Latest is that Labour (who are exceptionally concerned about 'precious time' for Brexit scrutiny etc) are going to put a humble address for Attorney General's legal advice on prorogation

No VONC, no GE, no discussion on ways forward for Brexit etc - just more grandstanding

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 16:17

Oh, & Bercow has 'signalled he will make time for this'

But of course....

MunaZaldrizoti · 24/09/2019 16:22

@DustyDiamond

  1. There has to be a vote brought on conference recess. MPs can't vote on something which isn't brought. Government year on year has brought this vote to MPs and allowed them to decide, Johnson decided he wouldn't allow parliament this choice, this year of all years. And to make sure, he prorogued them.
  1. Bills take time to pass through both houses and then receive royal assent. They passed the Benn Bill by the bloody skin of their teeth. As I said before, they had 4 days and did what they could. Lords were camped out in HoLs FFS! They could not have passed a raft of legislation.
Septembersunrays · 24/09/2019 16:45

I'm watching corbyn speech on sky and all I can think of is the film the witches.. Angelica hustons high grand witch... Presiding over starker, abbot, thornberry... Macdonnel.

The Labour Party are insignificant flies right now!
Small right wing group trying to hijack...

Or small left wing group.. Trying to hijack....

What bollocks. The whole thing totally ridiculous.

howabout · 24/09/2019 16:49

ghostofharrenhal why do you think a pact with the Brexit Party is bad for Brexit minded Tories?

Septembersunrays · 24/09/2019 16:52

Kier starmer looks incredibly uncomfortable. He seems lost, not knowing when to stand up or sitting down...

Rich friends?
They are all fucking loaded themselves!! What is corbyn on!

mummmy2017 · 24/09/2019 17:11

Free bus passes.
You don't have to work till 75. Ok 74 then.
Lots of trains.
Spend , spend , spend .
Every word out of Corbyn's mouth is going to cost money.

MrsMaiselsMuff · 24/09/2019 17:16

Cross rail (in the North) will cost less than HS2 has already lost.

It's not about spending more, it's about putting the money where it is most needed, not on vanity projects that don't bring benefit to the majority.

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 17:18

howabout I suppose because I like to believe that many decent minded Tory Brexiteers (and I don't mean this in a sarcastic way, I don't think every Brexiteer is the devil incarnate, some of them are my friends) would not be able to stomach voting for a far right organisation like the Brexit party. But possibly I am wrong about this.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/09/2019 17:23

Every word out of Corbyn's mouth is going to cost money.

I'm afraid leavers have completely lost the economic argument. Brexit is costing something like 500mil a week, all to make the country poorer. Money that could have been spent rebuilding the country not destroying it.

"Fuck business" Who said that?

bellinisurge · 24/09/2019 17:25

I suppose Corbyn has seen how you suckers will fall for unicorns and fantasy promises and is serving up some of his own.
Leavers hate it when people who voted Remain slag off Corbyn. It spoils their little fantasy.

bellinisurge · 24/09/2019 17:27

I think the "magic money tree" jibes at Corbyn are dead in the water.

Septembersunrays · 24/09/2019 17:29
Hmm

Firstly corbyn is a leaver so does it surprise me if Remainers berate him?
Secondly if someone else was shadow leader we wouldn't have had such deadlock would we?
Thirdly, I don't catagorise how people think and follow through. People are generally complex creatures.

bellinisurge · 24/09/2019 17:31

That's right,@Septembersunrays , the Leave support on here is so nuanced and careful. As evidenced by .....,?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/09/2019 17:33

Secondly if someone else was shadow leader we wouldn't have had such deadlock would we?

This democracy thing is really coming back to haunt leavers isn't it?

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 24/09/2019 17:50

The people who could be bothered to vote in the referendum voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU. & yes. I think 52 to 48 is a significant win.
We haven’t left, & I doubt we ever will, because the people in charge are remainers.
They simply won’t let us leave.

That’s democracy is it?
Hmm

bellinisurge · 24/09/2019 17:51

Apparently the view of sovereign parliament (elected by the people in 2017) doesn't count because people were lied to when the voted. But no one told a lie in the 2016 referendum so that vote matters more. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 17:55

Leavers hate it when people who voted Remain slag off Corbyn. It spoils their little fantasy.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Au contraire!!

The more people who share my distaste for Corbyn the better as far as I'm concerned

I cannot stand the man

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/09/2019 17:55

Parliament have been elected by "the people". The people are split, parliament is split. Fair reflection I'd say and representative democracy in action. If leavers can't comprehend this, that's their problem.

Miljah · 24/09/2019 18:11

Lady Hale wears a cracking brooch!

dirtyrottenscoundrel · 24/09/2019 18:16

I hope we stay now.
I hope we stay and the EU fucks us over massively, & they will.
I hope more poorer countries join that we’ll have to constantly bail out.

Remoaners. Have your beloved EU.
They’re going to take us for the total mugs we are.

KennDodd · 24/09/2019 18:21

I hope more poorer countries join that we’ll have to constantly bail out

I hope they do as well. I went to Poland recently, it's hugely prospered since joining the EU, both financially and culturally. I would much rather my tax money was spend reducing inequality than billionaires didn't pay any tax.

KennDodd · 24/09/2019 18:24

I also think EU membership is a small price to pay for peace in NI.
