You lost get over it

What on earth does that mean?

It sounds like immature playground chat.

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 14:17

You lost get over it

I agree!

Remoaners need to get a grip and accept the result of the ref!

3 years of tantrums & using every bit of chicanery possible to subvert & overturn the result is coming to a head now.

I'm with Boris!

I'm over it. It seems like you lot aren't. Fizzing over a sovereign decision of our sovereign court. Which isn't about Brexit, just about prorogation.
Argue it through our democratically elected Parliament. If you are right, what are you afraid of?

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 14:23

Brexiteers, I am confused.

Why are some of you upset about the Supreme Court judgement? Prorogation was nothing to do with Brexit according to Johnson and lots of Brexit supporters who said that it is normal custom and practice. So how can the decision to overturn prorogation have anything to do with Brexit or harm it?

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 14:30

Simultaneously wants a GE & no GE at the same time apparently.

He never said he didn't want one, he said he didn't want Johnson to choose the date as he rightly didn't trust him not to then change that date.

Any GE will now have to take place after 31st Oct. That is bad news for Johnson and the Tories as unless there is a deal pulled out of Boris's backside a hat either their vote will be split by Farage's party or they will have to form a pact with it.

Parker231 · 24/09/2019 14:46

Why are people still saying we’re leaving on 31 October. This doesn’t change the Benn Bill.

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 14:49

Brexiters, I am pretending to be confused

Why are some of you upset about the Supreme Court judgement? Prorogation was everything to do with Brexit according to Cherry, Maugham, Soubry, Swinson, Corbyn, Blackford, Corbyn and lots of anti-Brexit supporters who said that it is normal custom and practice to actively pursue any avenue which may ultimately stymie Brexit. So although I know that the decision to overturn prorogation has everything to do with Brexit and was used as a vehicle to harm it, I nonetheless will continue with my faux bemusement

(Fixed it for you! πŸ˜‡)

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 14:51

He never said he didn't want one

He declined to vote for a GE

Twice

It matters not what his words were/are - his actions speak louder.

time4chocolate · 24/09/2019 14:53

Dusty πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (and so true)

It’s playing out πŸ˜‰

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 15:05

He declined to vote for a GE

Twice

It matters not what his words were/are - his actions speak louder.*

I repeat - because he wants a GE at a time that will be most beneficial to Labour. Nothing wrong with that.

As for the prorogation issue - you have masterfully set out what you think I think about the thinking behind it (getting dizzy now) but haven't said whether YOU think it was called for Brexit-related reasons.

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 15:05

I can't WAIT to see how the opposition parties in Parliament now move swiftly to call for a GE, or a VONC in Boris - being as how they've all waxed lyrical today about how he shouldn't be PM & the Tories aren't fit to govern...

(Spoiler Alert: they won't. They'll just continue to fuck around as they've done for the last 3 years)

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 15:06

Gah.

He declined to vote for a GE. Twice. It matters not what his words were/are - his actions speak louder.

I repeat - because he wants a GE at a time that will be most beneficial to Labour. Nothing wrong with that.

Repeat it til you're blue in the face for all I care.
He shouts & screams 'GE NOW!' (as he did today) yet he won't actually vote for one.

As for the prorogation issue - you have masterfully set out what you think I think about the thinking behind it (getting dizzy now) but haven't said whether YOU think it was called for Brexit-related reasons.

I think it was called for new session.
Boris could not bring back WA again in the current session & I think that was his/Cummings original intent.

So, technically it was Brexit related (imo) but not to somehow sneak through a no deal.

My problem with it being taken to the courts is that Parliament did not bother to utilise the tools it had first (or indeed at all), but instead ran to the judges.

The courts & politics should be separate.

Deep pockets are now dictating the direction of our democracy through legislation & this is dangerous.

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 15:13

Look, the Tories are fucked right now and Brexit is a horse with three broken legs trying to drag itself over the finishing line. Johnson may turn it all around, who knows.

But I am 99% certain we ain't leaving on 31st Oct with no deal, much as the likes of Crispin Odey want it. You know, Odey, man of the people and billionaire hedge fund backer.

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 15:16

My problem with it being taken to the courts is that Parliament did not bother to utilise the tools it had first (or indeed at all), but instead ran to the judges.

What tools could they have utilised? This is a genuine question. Do you mean a GE?

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 15:17

He shouts & screams 'GE NOW!' (as he did today) yet he won't actually vote for one.

I think if there was a vote for one tomorrow he woudl vote for it.

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 15:21

I think if there was a vote for one tomorrow he woudl vote for it.

'Labour sources' apparently ruling out a VONC at the moment, so if they won't do that then they def won't vote for GE

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 15:22

Tools they could have utilised?

Cancelled their conferences thus negating 'reason' for prorog length
Seized control of order paper & voted against such a long prorog.

VONC

GE

mummmy2017 · 24/09/2019 15:38

Wow so many Facebook comments about how we can't trust the MPs, the Courts and how Labour is far more Leave that the unions thought.
Remain keep taking court action and each time it raises the amount of support for let's just tell the EU to sod off....

MunaZaldrizoti · 24/09/2019 15:43

Cancelled their conferences thus negating 'reason' for prorog length

They couldn't do this because they were prorogued.

Seized control of order paper & voted against such a long prorog.

They did this and passed what legislation they could within 4 days before being prorogued. It wasn't enough time to pass a whole bunch of legislation.

VONC

Thry wouldn't have had the 14 days for creating a new government because it would have fallen into the prorogation.

GE

As Crispin Odey said during the Tories at War doc on C4 Johnson's plan was to say he would hold a GE on Oct 14 or 15 then he would change the date of the GE to Nov 5 while MPs were prorogued. Thus MPs were right to call bullshit on his offer for a GE

bellinisurge · 24/09/2019 15:44

Solve the NI border issue and we can leave in an orderly way. It's as simple as that.
And, as it turns out, rather complicated and full of the need to compromise in order to do it.
But I'm sure you are all having fun frothing at our sovereign court determining a point of law about prorogation in this instance. Why not spend your time coming up with a workable solution to replace the backstop if you still want to Leave. Or is that too difficult and am I being too mean asking it. Wink

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 15:51

MunaZaldrizoti is right.

Cancelled their conferences thus negating 'reason' for prorog length

They normally DO have a vote on whether to recess for conference season. But they didn't get the chance because...

ghostofharrenhal · 24/09/2019 15:55

'Labour sources' apparently ruling out a VONC at the moment, so if they won't do that then they def won't vote for GE

Dusty, is there a link for this please? I'd like to see what is being said.

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 16:01

They couldn't do this because they were prorogued.

No they weren't!

They were literally sat in Parliament whining & fawning over Bercow before prorog commenced

They had plenty opportunity to cancel conferences

DustyDiamond · 24/09/2019 16:02

As Crispin Odey said during the Tories at War doc on C4 Johnson's plan was to say he would hold a GE on Oct 14 or 15 then he would change the date of the GE to Nov 5 while MPs were prorogued. Thus MPs were right to call bullshit on his offer for a GE

They could have put forward a one line bill with a date on.
