Of course I know the EU's equivalent of Whitehall scrutinise what we say and do- possibly even MN!

But if you had their ear, what would you say?

I do understand that there is no complete, overriding consensus within the EU 'Parliament'!

But imagine you are addressing the EU MEPs.

What would you like to feel they should know?

Dear EU,
I know I don't get a real say in what happens, or even in what has happened over the past few years but I just want you to know that what you see in the House of Commons is not the general population of the UK.

The way those people are acting is not a fair representation of the people who actually live in this country.
We are not all like that. Most of us are nice people.
It was nice knowing you.

Snugs.

ps How do you feel about accepting refugees from the UK?
I'm thinking of getting an inflatable dinghy & trying my luck.

Mystery grin too funny!! 😂😂

Welcome. Thought the idea of the thread was humour. However, I have requested MNHQ to delete some of my posts as they seem to upset some of the other posters.

Many people are afraid of what might happen in the future. So best not to joke too much.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 07/09/2019 06:18

Glad to see that you have realised that your comments were beyond the pale

DuchessDumbarton · 07/09/2019 06:38

Mystery you've been called on your "sense of humour" on other threads.
You throw out awful statements such as this:
"couldn't give a fuck of the UK stays or leaves once peace isn't risked...
So tell the EU to give UK the FTA they seek"

I hope MNHQ don't delete that remark- it's not a failure of other people's ability to understand humour, it's your failure to rein in your hatred and arrogance. It's a good signpost to your mindset.

I don't read Leela96 as promoting the IRA.... au contraire, it's stating facts. The GFA has kept extremists off the radar but they "haven't gone away you know".

Your statement, on the other hand, reads as if you are using the threat of potential violence to force the EU's hand to give you something that you want.
There's a name for people who use the threat of violence to force what they want from others....if only I could think what it was? Hmm

bellinisurge · 07/09/2019 07:58

Absolutely despicable and ignorant to describe @Leela96 's posts as promoting tbe IRA.
Really a new low.

Leela96 · 07/09/2019 09:01

*@Leela96

Promoting the IRA does not help anything*

Where did I promote the IRA? I've stated facts, you mightn't like the facts. Does the thought of car bombs make you feel uncomfortable, it should.

As another poster said & to quote Gerry Adams , they haven't gone away you know .

How is it so difficult for leavers to understand how fragile peace is.

For those who think peace is unimportant or something that can be used as a bargaining chip then I wish Nár chuire Dia at do leas Thú.

An article by the excellent Tony Connelly

www.rte.ie/news/analysis-and-comment/2019/0907/1074437-backstop-brexit-boris-johnson/

Very clear on the dangers of Alternative Arrangements - it's not just an issue of whether the technology exists to make them workable (although that's highly debatable) - it's that they have enormous potential to increase tensions. They involve a high degree of surveillance - how do you do this without the consent of those affected?

And again, why is it alright to be blasé about this and say it'll all work itself out and yet perfectly reasonable to be afraid of some EU Army which probably will never exist?

whiskybysidedoor · 07/09/2019 09:34

Dear Brussels

How on earth are you going to deal with the Italian debt crisis?

As you full well know if Italy crash we are all going down with them.

I’m a bit frustrated as I live in the UK so all I hear about is the Brexit drama. If Italy goes, it won’t matter one jot if Brexit goes ahead or not.

Am also curious how the French feel about it? I see their exposure to Italian debt is absolutely enormous.

Thanks in advance.

Requested MNHQ to remove the post

HerSymphonyAndSong · 07/09/2019 10:01

So fewer people see how abhorrent your views are? Maybe they should be left for everyone to see and you should take ownership

whyamidoingthis · 07/09/2019 10:07

@HerSymphonyAndSong - Glad to see that you have realised that your comments were beyond the pale

Read what @MysteryTripAgain actually said: However, I have requested MNHQ to delete some of my posts as they seem to upset some of the other posters.

It's a "you're too sensitive" apology, I'm sorry you're upset about it, rather than I'm sorry I said it.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 07/09/2019 10:13

Haha yes I understood perfectly and my response was sarcastic

whyamidoingthis · 07/09/2019 10:19

@HerSymphonyAndSong - Haha yes I understood perfectly and my response was sarcastic

Oops. Time for some coffee.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 07/09/2019 10:20

Don’t worry, I could have made it clearer!

DuchessDumbarton · 07/09/2019 13:13

@MNHQ @MysteryTripAgain I am somewhat sorry to see that the remark at 02.30.56 has been deleted.

The sentiment was unacceptable -however, I see no remorse from the poster. It's being couched as a misunderstood "joke" rather than being an awful comment.

bellinisurge · 07/09/2019 14:06

There's no apology. There's the "can't you take a joke? " defence.

MysteryTripAgain · 08/09/2019 04:21

@bellinisurge

Maybe read some of your own posts. Your choice of language and direct insults to anyone who has a different opinion to yourself are incredible at times.

MN sticking to their policy of diverse opinion is good. Shaking off the previous criticism of being a women only forum to promote hatred towards men in particular can only be good.

Overall purpose of MN is for parents to exchange information to help with their day to day lives as opposed to a political forum.

Brexit is a big subject so was always going to appear on such websites. Some helpful topics have been raised with respect to; medication, travel, etc., but the constant search for blame does not achieve anything.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 08/09/2019 04:59

Well you’ve just shown you have as little understanding of mumsnet as you do the GFA, you wally

HerSymphonyAndSong · 08/09/2019 05:00

Nice attempt at dismissing and insulting women, but we’ve heard it all before, bless you

MysteryTripAgain · 08/09/2019 05:12

Google Mumsnet and see the criticism they have had in the past.

The MN founder has stated the are not a political group

HerSymphonyAndSong · 08/09/2019 05:12

Haha do carry on

HeronLanyon · 08/09/2019 05:25

Please could the time zone/daylight savings committee urgently look into a way of turning the clock back 4 years ?
Thank you.

MysteryTripAgain · 08/09/2019 05:44

look into a way of turning the clock back 4 years

With the object of achieving what?

HeronLanyon · 08/09/2019 06:24

mysterytripagain well I could ask for just an hour if it would avoid having to justify my post. FWIW I agree with your previous comment, above “thought the idea of the thread was humour”.
