I never said it was Bear.

You're arguing with yourself again as per.

I'd hate to the the empty phone box with you in it.

DustyDiamond · 01/09/2019 19:40

*to be the

Bearbehind · 01/09/2019 19:42

I’m lost - what is your point then dusty?

Bearbehind · 01/09/2019 19:46

And that is a perfect illustration of why leavers can't be arsed to bother engaging in good faith on these threads.

Because you're always looking for a 'Gotcha!' moment or an argument.

I’m a remainer, love. Which just shows how messed up this is.

frumpety · 01/09/2019 19:47

Bear and that is the point isn't it . If I tell Mummy that we have left and all the MSM back this up, but we haven't, how will they be able to tell the difference ? What tangible thing will occur that makes them think 'hang on, something isn't right here ?' What change are they expecting to occur and how long before they realise it hasn't ?

DustyDiamond · 01/09/2019 19:50

I’m a remainer, love. Which just shows how messed up this is.

I know you're a remainer - I never said otherwise.

Bearbehind · 01/09/2019 19:51

frumpety that’s the really sad thing - they literally won’t know the difference

Because this never was and still isn’t anything to do with EU membership

Bearbehind · 01/09/2019 19:52

You’re making no sense now dusty

DustyDiamond · 01/09/2019 19:54

I’m lost - what is your point then dusty?

Somewhat stupidly I tried to enter into a debate with you.

I was responding to your points & musings with my own counterpoints & musings.

I have learned my lesson.
I have realised that you are unable to do such a thing.

I will not bother to attempt good-faith discussions with you again.

Regarding Scots and voting Tiry.

How many were really true Tory voters?

Was it a strong Tory vote or was it an anti SNP vote?

I think if Labour vote had not collapsed in Scotland then Tories would not have done so well 2017.

I do think SNP vote will be up next time and I do believe that many people will vote SNP for the 1st time. I wonder how the Lib Dem vote will go. Really not sure.

bellinisurge · 01/09/2019 19:58

If a Leave voter had to choose between Brexit and NI being some sort of pretend fully linked part of the UK , I bet they'd choose Brexit every time.
The fact the NI border issue has come as such as surprise tells you their level of commitment to NI vs their level of commitment to Brexit.

DustyDiamond · 01/09/2019 20:01

Random - Current polling for Scotland is apparently as follows (cut & paste from @Kevina364 on Twitter - he follows all the polls & does seat projections including margin of error scenarios too) :

Current Scottish averages (Based on the 3 most recent Scottish only polls)

SNP 41%
Con 20%
Lab 19.3%
LD 10%
BXP 3%
Green 2.5%
UKIP 1%

SNP lead over Con 21%

mummmy2017 · 01/09/2019 20:04

You must have some great gossip on someone if your getting the worlds press to lie for you.

Random18 · 01/09/2019 20:06

Bellini it's a sad fact. And we have seen it with Scotland too.

I think too many people in England don't realise that the UK is made up of 4 countries. It's obvious when they often refer to the UK as England.

I had someone speaking to me before and saying something like 'this hotel is 90% English'. It was clear I was included in that 90%. He did not mean English he meant British. I am a non English Brit who has an accent which is quite recognisable and would be hard for a native Brit to mistake for English.

It's something we've had all our lives. Ok it's an annoyance rather than the more serious issues that they have in NI.

But I have really started questioning the Union since 2016 and questioning how British am I.

HateIsNotGood · 01/09/2019 20:09

Dusty I don't presume to know why you do anything, so don't presume anything about me please.

Random18 · 01/09/2019 20:10

@mummmy2017 I would say the english press is the biggest problem. And I very deliberately have used the word English.

The Express, Mail, Telegraph, Sun etc have got a lot to answer for.

jasjas1973 · 01/09/2019 20:10

Take the terrorists out of the equation and the 'border' is less of a problem straightaway

A very simplistic solution that has been tried around the world and in NI, it rarely if ever works.

We still have to abide by international human rights treaties, Shoot to Kill and Internment is what single party states do.

DustyDiamond · 01/09/2019 20:12

Dusty I don't presume to know why you do anything, so don't presume anything about me please.

Genuinely confused.

What have I presumed about you?

HateIsNotGood · 01/09/2019 20:16

bellini much as I'd rather we had a "pretend NI border" and Brexit - that throws the DUP and the NI electorate that voted them into power under the bus. As I've said before, I don't want to throw anyone under any bus, irrespective of whether or not I agree with them.

HateIsNotGood · 01/09/2019 20:20

*And that is a perfect illustration of why leavers can't be arsed to bother engaging in good faith on these threads.

Because you're always looking for a 'Gotcha!' moment or an argument.*

That's what I meant Dusty - but I see there's been lots of busy posting so my response to your presumtion may have been lost - no worries.

DustyDiamond · 01/09/2019 20:25

No probs Hate, It was a reply I made to Bear.

Perhaps I should have said "I" rather than generalising to 'leavers' and by 'youre' I meant Bear specifically.

HateIsNotGood · 01/09/2019 20:58

jas - yes just taking 'terrorists out of action' is very simplistic, but then people who commit terrorism are very simplistic in their view too.

As I said, anti-terrorism has evolved since GFA (and I deliberatelt state anti instead of counter terrorism). Since ISIS (in all its forms) has been acive in the UK, anti-terrorism has evolved to new levels.

So far there's been no 'suicide bombers' nor drone attacks in NI and I think the vast majority of people wherever they are don't want that either. Maybe knowing that might put the terrorists off, or give thos people that have to live with and in fear of these people the strength to say ....there they are, those people want to kill people.

bellinisurge · 01/09/2019 21:07

"I don't want to throw anyone under any bus, irrespective of whether or not I agree with them."
No Deal does exactly that to NI.

frumpety · 01/09/2019 21:11

Mummy don't do gossip, too old and ugly for that malarkey. But again you avoid and refuse to address the point, which is HOW will you be able actually tangibly be able to tell if we have left the EU if someone tells you we have and we haven't ?
