thenightsky · 29/08/2019 15:50

The yoghurt recipe is fab given I'm probably going to have surplus UHT milk by Xmas.

Understairs cupboard update:

I have taken out and wiped off some packets, these will be stashed where the baby den was. Ditto some tins. Hung up the wetsuits at the blunt end.

More tins need to be shifted so I can get access to the pointy end of the cupboard.

I think I had a mad moment or seven in March and bought lots of random tins to stash under the stairs. I have all sorts I had forgotten about.

Next job is swimming lessons and finding the goggles.

The middle aged invisibility cloak helps.

I have an oh fuck car boot too.

I need to repack the overnight at mums bag.
The hospital bag. ( Drinks and snacks antibac as hospital soap splits my hands.
An outdoors bag.
Car oh fuck boot
Car of fuck waterproof containing bag. ( Hats gloves, waterproof trousers, torch)

I need to get documents out and have available. Spare chargers will help.

Holiday disrupts everything, but does get you more organised eventually.

BlackeyedGruesome · 29/08/2019 16:14

Oh and I sorted out the freezer. I finally chucked something out that was so old I can't remember what it was nor remember how long it has been there.

Due to childhood I find it difficult to throw food away until it walks out on its own. I need to steel myself to throw away the cauli that tastes of frozen plastic and the bread. No bloody good. Maybe set up the compost bag at ex's and fill it with stuff I can't let go of.

My compost bin, which made beautiful compost for me, became home to the Ant Hill Mob. But they reckoned without my handy stash of diatomaceous earth. I felt like Attila the Hun. They are all dead. Dead, I tells ye.

@HunkyDory69

How much UHT milk do you use in your yogurt recipe to go with 1 tablespoon of yogurt?

Sounds a great method - so much easier than faffing with vacum flasks etc.

@bellinisurge @HunkyDory69 thank you so much for the suggestions!
I didn’t think of yoghurt lollies, great idea to use up his normal tub leftovers.

I feel relieved knowing I can make my own with UHT too if needed.

He has 2 bottles of multivitamin liquid in the cupboard (Tesco offer) and I’ve stocked up on Weetabix, Cheerios and porridge oats.

I had a great recipe to use up baby porridge making banana snack bites:
Mash 1/2 a banana and mix with 3-4 tablespoons of fine porridge oats
Stir in 2 tablespoons or raisins
Form mixture into small bars (I did flattened blobs)
In the oven on 180 for 10-15 mins until firm ( mine took more like 18)

He loves them and they keep well for snack time. I’m going to try substituting raisins for dried apricots so I can get a few different flavours for him.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2019 17:53

@Orangecake123, thanks for the Tesco tip. I've a 10kg sack of rice coming my way. And 5 litres of sunflower oil!

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2019 17:54

Just be careful with apricots, @Flamingo84! 💩 💩💩💩💩💩

bellinisurge · 29/08/2019 17:56

@Flamingo84 , love the banana bites idea.

Flamingo84 · 29/08/2019 18:21

@NoWordForFluffy really?! Ooh so glad you said something! I’ll leave those for when DH is home Grin

bellinisurge · 29/08/2019 18:26

Max of 4 dried apricots a day for an Adult. That's max.

It's basically crumbly sedimentary rock.

MyNameIsArthur · 29/08/2019 18:38

Thanks for useful info. Seems likely all this is going to be necessary now

bellinisurge · 29/08/2019 18:39

Via Amazon. Natch.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/08/2019 18:45

@bellinisurge, I ate a massive pack of dried apricots post c-section. Worked well! 😱🙈💩😂
