Thank you Socksontheradiator. I'm settling down with a cup of tea and the Parliament for a couple of hours before I pick the children up from school.

Orangecake123 · 25/09/2019 13:23

Hehe thanks again socks. I think I will save it for next month, but I'm not sure i'm the ideal ocado customer. My tesco shop was £150 Blush and i signed up for their free delivery trial for month.

For anyone else who is doing a first shop with ocado. They have the code online: VOU5674016

Socksontheradiator · 25/09/2019 13:56

Ah thank you. Misunderstood and thought Bluebell was offering hers. I thought of you, Orange, as I know you are fairly new to stockpiling and are doing it for two households Flowers

CrunchyCarrot · 25/09/2019 14:17

Brexit TOOTH: caused by testing the Bombay mix in my stash, I broke off a bit of a large filled molar. Sigh.

bellinisurge · 25/09/2019 14:26

Ouch!
I have a Brexit cold. Lots of noise but nothing substantial. It may stop me getting a flu jab.

So many brexit maladies 😢 I haven't yet succumbed, however I seem to have developed a brexit stockpile related expanded waistline Blush

Saffrone · 25/09/2019 15:38

I have always had a tendency to hoard but felt huge relief when I started Marie Kondo-ing a few years back. Baby & outgrown children's clothes & toes all gone; only paperwork left to crack. Couldn't reduce pantry down massively but did start winding it down a bit.

Brexit has ramped up my anxiety hugely, both in Jan-March 1st deadline & ever since.

I now feel overloaded. I cannot keep on at this pitch of stockpiling - had a 30% off voucher for M&S so stockpiled underwear for whole family etc. DH is reasonably tolerant but fed up of the dehydrator whirring & occupying counter space. I'm fed up of the stress.

Are others feeling like this?

bellinisurge · 25/09/2019 16:06

You need to pat yourself on the back for taking some steps and not beat yourself up for every little extra thing you could theoretically.
Focus on your emotional prep as it were. That is really important.
You are allowed to say "Fuck it " and comfort eat/go for a long walk/binge watch crap on TV/chuck stuff out or donate it/buy something cool that you don't "need" but have spare cash to get. All that sort of thing.
This whole bloody mess is doing all our heads in.

Orangecake123 · 25/09/2019 16:44

@Socksontheradiator Thank you for the flowers. How are you getting on.

@HunkyDory69 -Thank you for the extra info. I never knew they still did that.Blush

Orangecake123 · 25/09/2019 16:45

@CrunchyCarrot I hope you can get to a dentist soon.

@bellinisurge I hope you feel better soon.

BlackeyedGruesome · 25/09/2019 17:07

So to update...
We have Brexit toe, first described by OYBBK
Brexit ankle, nasty wood shed incident.
Brexit finger, scrabbling about in the stash.
SCOTUK Brexit thumb, Boris would like to claim it is nothing to do with Brexit but he seems to have buggered that claim up in his waffle yesterday. This led to a case of:
Brexit knee, falling over the cat trying to find first aid for Brexit thumb.
Brexit tooth.
Brexit anxiety which we hope we can alleviate by supporting each other on this thread.

I am at risk of Brexit something... The news is on the radio...and I want to throw/kick something.

BlackeyedGruesome · 25/09/2019 17:23

As to getting ready for Brexit and anxiety, it comes and goes as it is such an unknown quantity. I think it is perfectly normal to be a little apprehensive about unknown situations, which experts have said may be problematic.

Realistically, one can only prepare using the time, money, space and emotional energy that is spare from the rest of life. Some people have very little of one or other or all of those things spare. Other people being ready and out of the way will make it easier for them.

Anything you manage will help. Three days to start if you can. Any more is a bonus. Three days can sound daunting when you think of everything, but often you have a spare in already and not everything needs to be topped up.

Everyone will have their own priorities. Mine is coffee.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 25/09/2019 17:25

Ds has just fallen down the stairs and got a black eye and my antibiotics are making me feel sick. Roll on bedtime!

BlackeyedGruesome · 25/09/2019 17:29

So sorry bercow. I hope you both feel better soon.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/09/2019 17:30

Oh no. I hope you're both better soon, Bercow. Flowers

SimplySteveRedux · 25/09/2019 17:31

The internet is going to become a nightmare once we leave as our GDPR protection will vanish, leaving unscrupulous companies free to invade our personal space with intrusive tracking, and they won't even have to ask to do it.

Hope DS is ok, Bercow.

Orangecake123 · 25/09/2019 17:40

For anyone else interested: I found this documentary on iplayer with stacey dooley meeting american preppers in general.

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p06kt6x9/stacey-dooley-face-to-face-with-armageddon

bellinisurge · 25/09/2019 17:46

@Orangecake123 those are at the far end of even the US prepper spectrum and pretty flawed - storage of food is one any eagle eyed prepper would spot.
Look at people like Prepper Pot Pourri on YouTube. She is a highly respected prepper and, I suspect, a lot of shit kicking redneck types are scared of her. Yes she speaks from a US perspective. Yes, she is a general prepper. But she is an intelligent balanced person not given to bullshitty political nonsense.
"Share the knowledge " is her thing. As her name suggests, she's all about being calm and sensible.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 25/09/2019 17:48

Thanks. I just hope he's not going for a hat trick as he's now fallen off the kitchen drawer handles (climbing up to get crisps the monkey) and fallen on his bum so he's now got s bruised bum to match his eye 🙄

Orangecake123 · 25/09/2019 17:50

I love the doggy first aid kit and back pack for dogs so they can carry their own items.

Orangecake123 · 25/09/2019 17:52

@bellinisurge

Thank you! I'll also look her up.

CrunchyCarrot · 26/09/2019 03:03

Thanks @Orangecake123, heading to the dentist next Monday. I'm lucky really as it hasn't precipitated a toothache, hopefully just a repair job. Meanwhile I appear to have sprained my ankle although am mystified just how. But limping all the same and it's red and hot. Guess I'll be resting up with that tomorrow, or today really as I am up in the wee hours yet again. Glad of my medical stash though, I have plenty of stretchy bandages!

Bercows ouch hope you're both feeling better soon.

I think the stress levels over Brexit are really ramping up now. Whilst part of me wants a delay so we don't crash out, it will mean of course another stockpiling extension. If that happens I will just take a break from it for awhile.

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 26/09/2019 06:59

Thank you, you too!

All this are we, aren't we? is very stressful I agree. If we get another extension until the end of January (which is pointless so might be much longer) then my stash will get eaten and give me more money for Christmas presents as I'll need to spend less on food and household things. I personally don't see a solution to brexit at all that isn't BINO or revoke.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/09/2019 07:04

Crunchy, yikes re the tooth. Have you been bitten? Some bites can send you almost-lame! Would explain no obvious trauma!

I'm really glad that I'm nigh-on sorted for Christmas food and booze. It's going to be a bumpy old month, designed to fray our nerves!
