Vitalite is fine past its date. We have tested it for you so you don't have to. Grin Blush

NoWordForFluffy · 12/09/2019 07:54

Thank you, Blackeyed! It's 95p in Home Bargains so will stock up!

Suspect there’ll be a few more stocking up in the shops today.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/09/2019 08:40

Hopefully Oh. But I’m a bit worried that people have had enough of Brexit and are just tuning out. Obviously not the people posting on MN Brexit or other social media but generally.

It’s just occurred to me that work feels uncharacteristically unprepared for the stuff that’s in that document. I don’t know whether that because there isn’t a plan or because they can’t share that plan with us for some reason.

Just popped into Tesco after filling up with petrol (my mantra of never letting petrol tank go below half full)I wanted to see what fruit and veg was on offer for my weekend dehydrator sesh. I saw what looked like a manager looking at the bulk buy section and discussing with a colleague beefing it up and making it more prominent.

I got some nice looking oranges for fruit leather and a pack of frozen mixed veg that will dehydrate easily since you didn't ask Grin

@RafaIsTheKingOfClay , there's some new what data protection things your small business might need to think about in a no Deal scenario on the ICO website.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/09/2019 09:09

I've not tried it yet, flouncy. I'm sure it'll be fine in a cocktail!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/09/2019 09:11

In breaking news, I have my hrt prescription in sufficient quantity as to remove it from my list of urgent concerns.

I'm eternally grateful to my GP surgery and a helpful pharmacist.

bellinisurge · 12/09/2019 09:33

Hooray @OhYouBadBadKitten

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 12/09/2019 10:10

Great news OYBBK! I'm chasing up my prescription for painkillers. The GP hasn't replied to emails which is unlike her. I just want an extra months supply.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/09/2019 10:18

Yay for successfully filled prescriptions OYBBK

Unfortunately I don’t work for a small business Bellini. It’s the NHS. It’s the redacted fuel bit that’s made me think about it really. Fuel shortages are going to mean staff can’t get to work. Which combined with everything else is going to be a big issue.

StoatofDisarray · 12/09/2019 10:23

Hello, newbie here. I just ordered 300 water purification tablets, two big bars of soap, a waterBOB for the bath and a wind up charger with built in torch and radio. I thought that might do in terms of water and power shortages, and they're all small and easy to store. I've got a fully stocked first aid kit, a month of extra prescription medication, and I'm ready to face the "family cloth".

As for food though, I live in a tiny flat in central London with zero storage space, so I'm not sure what I can do apart from buy Spam, which can be eaten cold and is high in fat and protein. Any suggestions? A massive tub of peanut butter? Am reading all the prepper threads now...

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 12/09/2019 10:27

Welcome @StoatofDisarray you'll find lots of advice here and inventive ways of stashing things-under the bed, bath, behind kickboards. Don't panic just make a list of what you'd need for a few days if you were stuck in. Things you wouldn't like to be without if push came to shove.

StoatofDisarray · 12/09/2019 10:28

Thanks, Bercow :) Under the bath is an excellent one for a start!

bellinisurge · 12/09/2019 10:44

@StoatofDisarray , take a look at Jack Monroe's website which has some free recipes from her book Tin Can Cook. I have the book and have been trialling some of the recipes. Her corned beef chilli was a big success in our house. Store cupboard and tinned ingredients.

StoatofDisarray · 12/09/2019 10:46

Thanks, Bellini. the brand Look What We Found might be good for heating up over a stove. I've also dropped some jars of bockwurst, spam and corned beef into my Ocado trolley. And vegan food pouches for my vegan partner.

bellinisurge · 12/09/2019 10:52

If you can afford Look What I Found stuff it's lovely. And vegan options are a good idea - nutritional yeast is a good thing.

BlackeyedGruesome · 12/09/2019 10:53

Places mentioned include behind the sofa. On top of wardrobes, under sofa, beds, behind books on the book shelf. I have a stash of tins between furniture and internal wall. External walls need more air flow. Spaghetti is easier to stash as the packs are flatter. I have loo cleaner at the side of the loo, a narrow cupboard next to the loo. My wardrobe is jammed with clothes and Christmas presents anyway.

Small apartment ideas on Pinterest help.

Lucky that my small flat is probably quite large by London standards, has a loft and understairs cupboard. I also have a garage for a few narrow things. The car has to fit in it and I have lots of crap in there as well I need to chuck out.

bellinisurge · 12/09/2019 10:53

Buy what you eat. Trial different recipes. Don't overspend. Stay within a strict budget.

StoatofDisarray · 12/09/2019 10:54

Should i buy a camping stove?

StoatofDisarray · 12/09/2019 10:55

Thanks, I will!

bellinisurge · 12/09/2019 10:55

No. Not for Brexit and not if you live somewhere without an open space like access to a garden.

BlackeyedGruesome · 12/09/2019 10:56

Have you anywhere to store the gas outside? Or use it outside?

BlackeyedGruesome · 12/09/2019 10:59

I bought a storm kettle. No need to store fuel, uses anything combustible. Useful to take on holiday. Can get a kit with pans for heating up food.

I have couscous and mugshots that are just add hot water and a food flask.
