Thank you.

Two bathrooms in the holiday house. 1 for just me, one for two DC and ex. I used more loo roll than the three of them. Too many trips to the loo.

Vacillating from just a cyst to every twinge anywhere is big trouble. Today is day 7 so more chasing up tomorrow.

bellinisurge · 11/09/2019 15:43

Family cloth is the nuclear option in my family that I haven't discussed (yet) with them. Dd already uses and loves reusable sanpro.

BlackeyedGruesome · 11/09/2019 16:40

If everyone had their own flannel it would not be so bad but calling it family cloth is disgusting sounding.

BlackeyedGruesome · 11/09/2019 16:51

DC used to drop the loo roll into the loo accidentally.

I have lots of experience of unblocking loos as there are two right angled turns before the pipe heads downwards and somethings get stuck in the bend if flushed with too much loo roll.

Loo cleaner, down the loo, leave, then repeated flushing and water erosion works eventually. Have to wait until there is enough space in the bowl for a tank of water though. If completely blocked it does not work and plunger is required.

BlackeyedGruesome · 11/09/2019 16:52

Or rods.

BlackeyedGruesome · 11/09/2019 16:55

Going back to other things...

What is the consensus on the need for a no deal stockpile? Has the likelihood of needing it gone up or down?

MINItrawler · 11/09/2019 17:06

I use cloth baby wipes so if need be it's an option. Until then, 120 loo rolls for £16 off groupon.

I do need to bite the bullet and get cloth sanitary stuff, I know it'll save me money but it feels like a huge outlay on a small budget.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2019 17:25

I'm officially at 'fuck knows', Blackeyed.

Wolfcub · 11/09/2019 17:29

I’m also in the fuck knows camp

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 11/09/2019 17:41

I've no idea if no deal is more or less likely. We seem to have a law preventing no deal but a pm that has said he will not obey that law. I'm just keeping on top of my stash and getting the rest of what's on my list this month. I have thrush treatment and knock off baileys so I'm prepared Grin

Lex234 · 11/09/2019 19:33

I think i have a decent stockpile now, which pretty much looks like I have just done the "big" shop I do every couple of months. I am planning to keep this stock level now and just buy what we use. It will be useful over winter if nothing else as we get snowed in most years. I will be experimenting with fresh freezing over the next couple of weeks. I am quite good at veg but want to have a try with fruit too. I am wondering whether fruit salad in fruit juice might freeze better than individual fruits?

I have no idea if no deal will happen-I really hope not, but thanks to threads here I feel a little less stressed in the short term at least.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/09/2019 19:55

I've added another bottle of blag Bailey's to my stash. Our Christmas booze now consists of: 1 litre Absolut, 1 x blag Archers, 4 x blag Baileys, 2 x rosè wine, 2 x white wine and 2 x Prosecco. Hic! (There's only 2 of us!) I need cranberry juice so I can make Woo Woos. I have lemonade.

Lex234 · 11/09/2019 19:59

Can I come to yours at Christmas Fluffy Grin Love a woo woo!

Just had a skim of the released document, I am working on the assumption this is the watered down version. I think there will be some more people aligning to stockpiling now.

MINItrawler · 11/09/2019 20:42

Agree it'll be the soft version Lex, plus what did they redact?

Lex234 · 11/09/2019 20:53

Fuel rations/price hikes/impact on emergency services? It is a strange jump from 14 to 16. It feels like a link word puzzle

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/09/2019 21:13

Redaction is about localised fuel shortages due to 2 refineries closing.

BlackeyedGruesome · 11/09/2019 22:07

Thanks. Was also having a fuck knows moment re brexit and wondering whether I am being bonkers stocking up to no deal Brexit levels rather than school holiday/winter illnesses/ snow levels.

I don't particularly drink. Only home made elderflower champagne. Got plenty of that, the empty pop bottles and sugar for next year's batch. Better freeze some lemons if you can.

Thanks to recommendations on here some clotted cream accidentally fell out the shop into my freezer.

I was wondering whether the CoE would have difficulty getting communion wine... I think there is an ancient precedent for running out of wine in the instruction manual somewhere... Grin

Lidl had long date cranberry juice.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 11/09/2019 22:25

BercowsFlyingFlamingo

Where did you get the fluconazole please? I can’t seem to find it over the counter. Unless it’s in the extortionate Canestan duo stuff.

Blackeyed: hope you get the all clear very soon Flowers

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 11/09/2019 22:38

@BlackeyedGruesome I don't really drink either but I like a glass of knock off baileys of an evening over Christmas and new year.

@Whatthefoxgoingon Tesco. Their own version is only £6.00.

ghostofharrenhal · 11/09/2019 22:41

In case of interest this is what the redacted para said in full:

"15. Facing EU tariffs makes petrol exports to the EU uncompetitive. Industry had plans to mitigate the impact on refinery margins and profitability but UK Government policy to set petrol import tariffs at 0% inadvertently undermines these plans." [More to come]

Resulting strike action at refineries would lead to disruptions to fuel availability for 1-2 weeks in the regions directly supplied by the refineries." (3/3)

BlackeyedGruesome · 11/09/2019 22:53

Sounds like you will have a very merry Christmas fluffy.

I am also wondering whether people will be stocking up now or whether they will listen to the worst case scenario bit and think it will be better and ok because they can not contemplate it not being ok.. Or whether they think no deal is off the table now anyway.

BlackeyedGruesome · 11/09/2019 22:54

Oh fuck.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 11/09/2019 23:29

Thanks bercows!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 11/09/2019 23:31

I feel my user name is rather apt these days...

Confused
NoWordForFluffy · 12/09/2019 06:28

Our Christmas shouldn't deviate from normal really. I'm thereabouts done with the presents (and done to the extent it would be fine as it stands). We have booze, snacks, baking products etc. I've just got one more small shop to do on that score, so will pop to Sainsbury's at the weekend.

I'll be getting more tea bags, cheese and butter, plus the kids' dairy free spread very soon. Butter lasts way beyond its best before date in a very cold fridge, no need to freeze it.

I'll probably go and do a big Farm Foods shop another day to sort these things out. I can get snacks from there too to stock up the 'every day' snack selection!
