I think I'm done with cleaning, organising and stocktaking, and we have enough longlasting essentials for me to be happy with now. I'll keep adding the odd UHT, long shelf-life cheese and Christmas thing.

I'm making up a parcel for DM at the moment, as she has a liking to several British things she can't buy where she is. It's so easy now - all I need to do now is convince Doris at the Post Office that it's nothing dangerous, and off the parcel goes. I guess after Brexit I'll have to think about customs and a much longer list of rules, and probably pay a lot more, too.

I've discovered a new use for chickpeas, though, which is nice: roasting them with a bit of olive oil, salt and spices. Maybe I will add more chickpeas to the stash!

I’ve had to clear out another cupboard shelf to make some more room, bought a few more packet cake/cookie mixes from Lidl for emergencies. Condensed milk. A few treaty bits. Massive tub of peanut butter. Stock. Batteries. Drain cleaner. Whilst I now don’t believe we will end up in no deal on 1st November I’m feeling decidedly uncertain about all the upheaval

bellinisurge · 06/09/2019 14:43

I was just In Morrison's (getting some cooking apples for a jam session- not a musical one sadly Grin) and saw "stock up and save" promotions on loo roll. I wonder what "stock up and save means"HmmWink.
Some cold remedy type stuff may have fallen into my basket. And some crisps because I NEED crisps when things are #bumpy.

SistemaAddict · 06/09/2019 14:58

I'm not convinced we'll leave on the 31st either but I like knowing I'm prepared if we do. Im finding it quite e haunting trying to keep up with what's going on and the Westminstenders threads are becoming a bit cliquey and supercilious. You'd think some have personal updates from the Downing Street cat once an hour and therefore have all the info that no one is reporting on the news or on twitter. I'm feeling a bit ragey today about cliques in general.

Are you sure it is not just regulars, like here?

MarshmallowManiac · 06/09/2019 17:40

Well you won't get told off in Poundland Fluffy Grin. I think I will go there in future as have been told off too in Boots when I wanted to stock up!

MarshmallowManiac · 06/09/2019 17:46

That sounds lovely GoneWishing will have to try that!

BlackeyedGruesome · 06/09/2019 17:47

Medicine has become a little more important recently, personally speaking. Awaiting the post for a referral v soon. Not panicking yet as there is a 90% chance it will all be fine. Being deliberately vague as progeny peruse these threads.

MarshmallowManiac · 06/09/2019 17:48

Anyone here know do they sell yummy birthday cakes in Morrison? Smile

BlackeyedGruesome · 06/09/2019 17:50

In other news. Started buying those packs of beetroot that last a while. Also trying to organise the jars/bottles stash.

One thing, I am not going without coffee!

BlackeyedGruesome · 06/09/2019 17:51

They do sell cakes but each Morrisons is different.

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2019 17:59

I hope everything turns out fine, @BlackeyedGruesome.

Marshmallow, I will definitely head there to avoid a paracetamol product-based bollocking!

Bellini, I have also stashed crisps and got cold relief tablets in Home Bargains today. I also got razors, more toothpaste and a gingerbread scented candle (for the Christmas stash!).

NoWordForFluffy · 06/09/2019 18:00

@Bercows, I PM'd you the other day to ask if you were OK. Flowers

SistemaAddict · 06/09/2019 18:32

@NoWordForFluffy I don't seem to get emails any more saying that I've got a message. I use the iPhone app and don't get any notifications on that at all. Thank you for messaging me though Smile

I'm just cranky with prolonged perimemopausal PMT I think 😩

I find a handful of the regulars talk amongst themselves and tend to ignore a lot of questions from the less regular or knowledgable and can be dismissive and condescending. It's really got on my tits this week. A lot of posters are just trying to understand what's going on as things change so often these days that it seems impossible to figure out which way is up. Many posters are lovely and happy to explain but others seem to think they are above the rest.

Flowers bercow. Peri menopause is shit. I am finding PMT will last longer than before.

Good idea Fluffy Grin

yolofish · 07/09/2019 09:23

lots of new visitors Bercows and Fanny....

WaggingKnife · 07/09/2019 15:49

Just been to B&M and Morrison’s and stocked up on the following:

Dishwasher tablets, salt and rinse aid (want to have a year’s worth stashed in the garage)
White vinegar
Quality street tubs (2 for £7)
Condensed milk (I make fudge for Christmas gifts and this makes it easy)
Loo roll
Hair dye (not willing to go completely grey at 36 for Brexit)
Handcream
Chickpeas
Truckles of cheese x4

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/09/2019 15:50

Saw that flouncy. It is a bit like those posters who arrive and complain about the swearing. They usually get pointed towards the door. And every other fucking word on the fucking thread is a fucking swear word... Grin

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/09/2019 15:53

Nice one WK.

I am longing around listening to the cricket when I should be tidying the kitchen floor.

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/09/2019 15:54

Lounging. Bloody phone.

CrunchyCarrot · 07/09/2019 16:18

I find it increasingly hard to 'keep up' with the Westminstenders' threads, I didn't have much in the way of polical knowledge before so the deluge of info (plus hypothyroid-induced reduced concentration and brain fog) make it even more difficult, so I will indulge in a fucking swear word or three if I so desire! Grin

The main bulk of my stashing is done so it's just a case of getting a few things here and there as needed. I'm not sure how I'll feel if Brexit gets delayed again (from a stashing viewpoint), I guess we just have to be as ready as we can be no matter what the date is.

Lex234 · 07/09/2019 16:22

Would someone mind just clarifying for me-the Benn Bill would prevent UK exiting with No deal unless agreed by parliament-but the EU could refuse an extension (hopefully they wouldn't, but I have seen a few concerning quotes from various leaders) and if nothing else in place, we would exit with no deal-is that right?

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2019 17:05

That's right, @Lex234.

However, I would imagine that if faced with a choice between no deal and the WA, a majority of MPs would vote for the WA.
