Johnson likes publicity.

Any attention is good attention. Whilst you are talking about how crazy his idea is, the less you come up with your own.

And there it is. The lack of plan to stop no deal. Just a bunch of idiots who argue over who is more right about politics without offering up a practical solution.

Unable to see their own flaws.

And leading us ever closer to the cliff edge and operation Yellowhammer.

BJ may have gone off-script and muddled himself into a commitment to find a solution within 30 days Hmm

Or Merkel trapped him: she's very polite, but very clever too

Tom Newton Dunn@tnewtondunn

No10 now pushing back hard on any 30 day deadline, insisting Merkel never set one.

She didn't, but Boris seemed to, and may now regret it.

PM's words to her: "You have set a very blistering timetable of 30 days - if I understood you correctly, I am more than happy with that".

QueenOfThorns · 21/08/2019 21:40

I only do 3 supermarkets regularly. I need to up my game!

BigChocFrenzy · 21/08/2019 21:42

Encouraging, he sided with Germany against Trump here:

And: Johnson very publicly sided with Merkel against Trump to refuse to readmit Russia into the G7,

calling it "yet another example of where the UK and Germany have a common position”.

Merkel trapped him
She didn't acquire old Kohl's gig for nothing.

you can't make gold out of straw and that this goes for Brexit too
Genau. BigChoc

If Merkel vs BJ were a boxing match, no referee would even let it start

Re Supermarkets :
They know who the people are buying 10 litres of milk, 10 loaves of bread, 96 eggs, 10 packs of bacon and 20 tins of beans every day are.

woman19 · 21/08/2019 21:55

Love Merkel. Am reading the book on Shakespeare's Tyrants she was trolling johnson/trump with. They had very similar problems to us, it would appear.

Been a funny day:
English children in metal containers;
Mumsnet leavers thinking rationing and starvation is funny;
English mums driving round looking for medicines for their kids and partners.

And trump, our new owner, is king of the Jews.

@PenguinGalaxy
Do I correctly understand that that weirdo over the pond a) thinks he's King of the Jews b) calls any Jews who don't vote for him "disloyal" and c) calls the Nazis "very fine people"?

@davidallengreen
Pretty much

PS
We don't have kings.

night all.

US moves to abolish migrant custody limits so children can be detained indefinitely

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/world-us-canada-49425624?twitterr_impression=true

Migrant families who cross the southern border of the US illegally could be detained indefinitely under a new regulation announced by the Trump administration.

It replaces an agreement that set a limit on how long the government could hold migrant children in custody.

The move was announced by Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan and is due to come into effect in 60 days.

It is expected to face legal challenge.

Watching the Fatberg on French tv - he looks out of his depth completely. Pitiful.

AutumnCrow · 21/08/2019 22:48

Did Fatberg Dim even attempt to speak his wonderful German or fluent French?

bellinisurge · 21/08/2019 22:55

"They know who the people are buying 10 litres of milk, 10 loaves of bread, 96 eggs, 10 packs of bacon and 20 tins of beans every day are."
What are they going to do, physically stop people? Tell the hard pressed underpaid people on the tills to lay down the "rules". Stop childminders and care home workers from getting their stuff.
All makes the supermarket a horrible place to be. I don't need to go there if I don't have to because I'm a general prepper. But the posters on here whining on here about supermarkets running out of ice lollies in the heatwave a few weeks ago?

FractalChaos · 21/08/2019 23:22

Question: Why is Merkel saying 30 days? There are 70 days to Brexit...is is just to give a buffer for legislation to be put to and voted against probably ffs in parliament?

RedToothBrush · 21/08/2019 23:29

Why is Merkel saying 30 days

She didn't.

That's the British press butchering and misquoting what she did say.

FractalChaos · 21/08/2019 23:39

Right so given we have not come up with anything in 3 years, BJ now thinks he can come up with something in 30 days? Fair enough
deluded

Is anyone else watching this with a surely they will do SOMETHING in the 11th hour and this won't actually happen disbelief? I just can't even. After all the things that have come out again, looking at you, yellowhammer this week?

SwedishEdith · 21/08/2019 23:45

He was dubbed - no French or, it seemed, German.

wheresmymojo · 22/08/2019 00:19

Well No. 10 might be pushing back against Bozo signing up to a new plan for the backstop in 30 days but pretty much every single paper is headlining with this tomorrow...so painted himself into quite the corner!

Carpediem1 · 22/08/2019 01:02

If Cumming's BJ's game is to play to the leavers because really he wants to win a GE, then probably shouting to Johnny Foreigner in sticking to English plays better than admitting he used to live, horror of horrors, over there and can speak mumbo jumbo.

wheresmymojo · 22/08/2019 01:06

Good god - have you seen these Trump tweets from today?

We are living in truly dystopian times. How can anyone look at this man and see him as Presidential material?

A fair few people on the Tory boards think he's the best President ever. I can't even begin to understand Confused

Her words were indeed butchered. I read the BBC headline today and thought ???? but then read the whole article, quoting her, and the headline bore no resemblance whatsoever to what she said.

I too wondered if Merkel was trolling Boris.

mathanxiety · 22/08/2019 04:40

Not resemblance but relation..

lonelyplanetmum · 22/08/2019 07:18

Here's a photo opportunity.

The world has gone fucking mad. The POTUS - one of the most prestigious positions in the world is a person who used to appear in naff tv programmes wearing s gold/ yellow suit. He has tweeted that a planned international visit would no longer go ahead because "Ms Frederiksen had no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland".

It appears true according to the BBC that the tweeted this picture..

I am absolutely convinced that Trump has Frontotemporal dementia and it’s progressing.
