Hell is ever closer-how's your stash looking?

My brexit cupboard shelves have been depleted due to using up the things that were going out of date like long life milk and juice. We also seem to have raided the baked beans Blush
After today's announcement of buffoon johnson (isn't Johnson an American term for penis?) being our new PM and his threat of brexit on Halloween come hell or high water I figured I should assess my supplies. I still have my original lists somewhere so need to check everything.
Anyone else extra worried now and assessing their supplies?

Thanks for the oat milk recipe @MotherWol - DD won’t drink cows milk so this is very helpful for the future.

missclimpson · 07/08/2019 07:03

We have just thrown away the last butternut from last year! They were fine until June. The tromba are useful because they are more like a courgette without the sogginess.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/08/2019 07:17

I might grow more squash options next year if it's confirmed I've got my second allotment plot this week. I've no space right now! They're space-crazy (I'm not sure which plant is attempting world domination more successfully out of the courgettes, pumpkins and squash!).

missclimpson · 07/08/2019 07:45

The tromba climbs so ours goes through the magnolia tree and the serpents hang down like a bizarre fruit. 😀

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/08/2019 09:51

FFS, we've just discovered the builders won't be out of our loft (where the stash goes) for another two weeks. Im desperate to check the dates and do a stock check, but I do not want it on display to them.

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/08/2019 10:20

Packing and going on holiday will disrupt my stash sorting plans.

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/08/2019 10:36

I know how you feel about getting on with it OYBBK.

We are nearly ready if he went now, but need to rotate use and restock if definitely October.

I bought more courgette seeds to give it a try next year.

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/08/2019 13:20

Waffler on radio proclaiming it is all project fear and costs with no benefits. Trying to refute food and drink association.

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/08/2019 13:21

In weeks things will be back to normal, will adjust, not a big deal.

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/08/2019 13:22

Just in time is not about speed it is about logistics, factor in extra time

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/08/2019 13:25

Their customers voted to leave, not leaving is far more dangerous than a few delays, if there are delays which I don't think there will be...

^quoting man on radio 4 on WATO

A couple of sentences stating food and drink association, interview refuting this position.

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/08/2019 13:30

A few weeks disruption seems to have been admitted to, then refuted.

Claim that food and drink association only has 350 members and there are thousands of producers many of whom do no import or export to Europe.

The big companies in fada are throwing toys out of pram apparently to try and prevent Brexit.

AutumnCrow · 07/08/2019 13:41

Well, I guess we'll see, one way or the other. Hedge fund betting on short positions will increase, though, I think. If only we all had £300 million to gamble on British business collapses, like one of Johnson's donors ...

prettybird · 07/08/2019 14:14

If it was all so rosy, why are so many organisations and businesses being constrained from communicating fully by NDAs by the government? Confused

The Food and Drink Association and the Road Haulage Association amongst them Hmm - so what they are at liberty to say is a small part of what they'd like to say about the potential consequences. Sad

Xmas shopping started...

New shower being purchased at end of month, front room being decorated...

Stash being added to...

I went slightly mad and bought 30 bags of pasta, now have 15 kilos of it Blush. It is my favourite Italian brand and was on offer and has a use by date of 2022. But still, it was a bit rash of me.

If anyone is looking for a bit of variety in their veg stock, I can recommend Aldi jars of artichoke. It's a bit expensive I suppose, but you get quite a lot of it and it is lovely with in a tomato sauce with reconstituted dried mushrooms. Goes well with the pasta!

Inmyownlittlecorner · 07/08/2019 17:03

I was in Aldi today (central London) adding my extra stockpile bits alongside my normal shopping & there were no paracetamol & limited sanpro. It was the same in Asda last week. There were quite a few packs of antihistamines & ibroprufen though.

bellinisurge · 07/08/2019 17:17

Nice Aldi tip @ghostofharrenhal

BlackeyedGruesome · 07/08/2019 17:18

Rha on PM.

Not sounding good.

Alternative point of view now.

Unlike earlier when mainly leavers side.

ghostofharrenhal · 07/08/2019 17:21

You're welcome @bellinisurge, I have learned a lot from your posts, so thanks for that.

bellinisurge · 07/08/2019 18:05

Smile👍

Cybergenesis · 07/08/2019 18:24

I had a really good stockpile before the last Brexit deadline but then when it got extended I ate it all. I think all I've got left is a giant bag of pasta and a giant bag of rice.

BlackeyedGruesome · 08/08/2019 12:10

I am trying to pack for holiday and am searching under the stairs for those things one only uses on holiday.

I have discovered the stockpile of pencils that I must have bought in a Welsh supermarket last year.

Once I have got to the back of the cupboard I have to pack it all back in until the end of the holiday, when I pull it all out again to get the suitcases back in.

SistemaAddict · 08/08/2019 17:51

I've added 2 packs of kitkats, a packet of chocolate hobnobs, and a box of cereal today.

My camel is tied now, I think.
Although we just ordered a new under the work top freezer as we have a dishwasher shaped space in the kitchen.
Our usual freezer is not big and it's always a squeeze so we decided to treat ourselves :)
So will probably do a bit of batch cooking once that arrives, but otherwise just rotating stock now.
