Westministenders: A New Approach? No chance.

Next week we will have a new PM. He will be called Boris Johnson unless something very odd has happened.

His first 72 hours will be 'interesting' especially if today's events are anything to go by.

His Cabinet is sure to be a horror show. It was noticable who abstained today - they don't think they will be in a Johnson Cabinet and clearly don't want to be.

To move forward Johnson must be able to survive a rebellion and a Queen's speech before now and 31st October.

And be able to unit his party in order to find a way forward.

And whilst parliament has voted to block proroguing parliament, it could still be dissolved if there is a vote of no confidence.

And what happens if Johnson loses a vote? Will he manage to become PM? Will there be a GE.

All the signs are that next week is going to be a hell of a ride.

Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for clearing that up Edith although I have no obvious idea about what Hazard means at all - I wasn't aware that bestiality in it's wide range of forms had become such an accepted thing, Cameron or not.

Must be part of the 'new' censorship thing I guess....

And Babs - I'm sure you wouldn't deliberately unleash your vitriol on a child, but DS for all his positive sides, isn't quite as well-equipped for the 'social' world as most of us as he's autistic. So he might look like a Man/Adult but can't yet read those signs that avert most of us from danger.

It's not you, it's his peers, your children, that might label him with the 'new censorship' labels - so easy to cast on someone but far harder to shake off.

Hate I am utterly confused by your comments.

I aimed one, frankly childish and ridiculous insult at someone who has done our country and its citizens a grave wrong and you have built that into my somehow propagating the ‘new censorship’ of which you speak. Point me please towards any comments I have made that back this up.

And you are being terribly judgmental about the likely views and behaviours of any children I might or might not have.

Hate The pig-shagging allegation came from Cameron's Tory critics and has been much repeated by them
It was first published iirc in a book by a major Tory donor, who fell out with him a few years ago

A claim (without evidence) that at one of the Bullingdon Club raves he put his penis in the head of a dead pig

Hate It is not "the centre" as you claim who would censor your DS

  • of course there are exceptions, but it is far more the political extremes:

Israel
The conservative right in the US and UK are fiercely pro-Israel and pro-settlement, very Islamophobic
They savage anyone who dares raise Palestinian rights

Centrists don't class criticism of Israel's human rights record and the settlements as anti-semitism - we almost all share these criticisms

Racism & feminism
It is the (hard) left who will police language as a weapon
and deliberately hound anyone who unnintentionally uses the "wrong" language for race, or for gender / transpeople, or any other protected group

e.g. Our lovely Talkinpeace was banned by MNHQ because of stalkers hounding her after she used slightly old-fashioned terms when discussing race;
the Transactivist left stalk posters on MN Feminism, trying to get feminists banned for stating biological facts, e.g. changing sex is impossible because sex is defined by chromosones

Centrists normally criticise people for being sexist or racist whe they actually intend to be
  • e.g. BJ being deliberately offensive, playing to the rightwing, talking about "Picanninnies" and Muslim women in burkas "looking like letter boxes",

Trump calling Mexican immigrants "rapists and drug-dealers"
those people complaining about "political correctness" because they are not allowed to callpeopl "ni§§§er"

Er - ok - don't be confused by my confusion, a couple of explanations have been provided, it's obvs some kind of 'in-joke' that I wasn't aware of - apparently this sort of descriptive of people is now within the 'acceptable boundaries'; shows how behind the times I am - I thought it wasn't ok anymore to say that the Welsh were 'sheep-shaggers' because, well, that's pretty offensive (and untrue).

But, I suppose because someone somewhere made a joke about Camisole and/or Borrie and sexual behaviour involving animals at some point in time it's like all ok then? Hmm....if you don't mind, I'll leave that to you, and silently wow! at how backwards humanity has gone, and so quickly too.

hate What have I ever said that makes you attack me like that ? Hmm

I have reported it, btw
and if you have taught your DS to insult people like that, then he will indeed get into trouble

Disagreeing with someone and explaining - without insults - why this is, does not equal attacking them
Noone, autistic or not, has the right to have their views accepted by everyone in silence

I have Aspergers, btw and I stim, so at school & uni I was called a weirdo, a spaz, racially insulted too.
I was very isolated, being smacked and slippered there for not knowing social norms

This was in the 1960s, long before there were rules against disabilist and racist language

  • those rules would have saved me a lot of pain and have since saved your DS from a lot of additional suffering

Those language rules defend the vulnerable

I have defended posters several times on MN who have been criticised for unintentionally using the "wrong" language on race or trans
and the accusers were from the LEFT

I have defended posters accused of anti-semitism and the accusers were from the RIGHT

The story of Cameron under taking the activity of putting his penis in a head of a pig as part of a ritual at a club he belonged to was well circulated a couple of years ago. There was some suggestion that it was a way of ensuring that no Jewish people were included accidentally in this club. Just to be clear this was meant to be a dead and decapitated pig, I would assume also cooked.
It is not proven fact, though serving pigs head usually stuffed with apples does have a long history in England.
It wasn't a joke so much as a rumour about student behaviour that hasn't been proved.
I agree with BCF's analysis that it is the hard left and the hard right that tend to want things censored although not the same stuff, it is rarely the centre. Although there are exceptions, sex and gender confusion with the lib dems and the greens for example.
In any case your son's comments sound perfectly moderate.

Farage is so rightwing that he has used both anti-semitic and racist language:

At Dulwich College, it is reported that he marched around chanting Hitler Youth songs like "Gas the Jews"

  • that wouldn't go down well with Trump, who is "just" a racist

UKIP founder Alan Sked reported that Farage repeatedly used racist language

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/may/26/ukip-founder-alan-sked-party-become-frankensteins-monster

"He wanted ex-National Front candidates to run and I said, 'I'm not sure about that,'
and he said,

'There's no need to worry about the n@@ger vote. The n@g-n@gs will never vote for us.'"

BigChocFrenzy · 24/07/2019 02:16

Yep, the Greens & LDems have joined Momentum in censoring both the language and the debate on trans issues,
and on giving women's jobs within their party to men

(whether there should be "women's officers" and women-only shortlists is a seperate issue)

As an Aspie and a feminist, I find it impossible to keep quiet when those in authority don't just deny biology,
but also hound those who disagree and try to get them sacked or demoted

At Dulwich College, it is reported that he marched around chanting Hitler Youth songs like "Gas the Jews"

But then he was disingenuous and lied about it '"I don't know any Hitler youth songs." No mate, but you know the tune Bless 'em all, and you know how to fit words to a tune.

As for Cameron and the Bullingdon Club's 'japes' - I think the University was complicit too. I was reading the other week about the Club once completely trashing a newly refurbished panelled room which had cost thousands. Daddy writes a cheque and it's all hushed up. No, the culprits should have been sent down and the crime reported to the Police.

Not that not getting a degree and collecting a criminal record would have affected them, because they would still have made their contacts at Eton and it is as much about making contacts as ability.

And it's criminal scummy behaviour like this perpetrated by a Club that 2 of our last 3 Prime Ministers have belonged to. What is the matter with people that they vote for such people? I wonder how the Tory members would feel if the Bullingdon Club had come and smashed up their Club house?

Meh.

Cameron put his shrivelled dick in a dead pigs mouth...just the usual bullingdon antics btw...but we are the disgusting ones for mentioning it??? Yeah. Right.

I've said it before....I hope all leave voters on here and in the uk as z whole are independently wealthy and have no need of the NHS.

Like most of those who have perpetrated this huge lie.

Trashing an expensive room or a restaurant has no consequences for the Bullingdon Club
A parental cheque covers it all

Any ordinary lads who did that would get a criminal record, but not the gang of future PMs

Remember the current Bullingdon club members burning a 20 quid note in front of a homeless man ?
That illustrates the sheer contempt & cruelty that ultra-privileged gang have for the poorest in society

That's why I said the University was partly complicit - by all means accept the cheque, but send the culprits down without their degrees.
