Next week we will have a new PM. He will be called Boris Johnson unless something very odd has happened.

His first 72 hours will be 'interesting' especially if today's events are anything to go by.

His Cabinet is sure to be a horror show. It was noticable who abstained today - they don't think they will be in a Johnson Cabinet and clearly don't want to be.

To move forward Johnson must be able to survive a rebellion and a Queen's speech before now and 31st October.

And be able to unit his party in order to find a way forward.

And whilst parliament has voted to block proroguing parliament, it could still be dissolved if there is a vote of no confidence.

And what happens if Johnson loses a vote? Will he manage to become PM? Will there be a GE.

All the signs are that next week is going to be a hell of a ride.

Enjoy your weekend.

why in the hell haven't the people of sheffield hallam got rid of the odious little fucker?

They can't. There is no mechanism for them to boot him until the next election.

" I’m comfort shopping instead. I’ve spent a small fortune in the Boden sale" - bloody hell - talk about MN cliches.

I know. Blush It’s not like me at all. I currently own one jumpsuit, one jumper and a pair of trainers from Boden. So why am I suddenly compelled to buy stuff from there? Why? I’ll probably decide I hate most of it, and end up sending it back

Peregrina · 23/07/2019 20:59

As for Jared O Mara - the people of Sheffield Hallam decided that they preferred him to Nick Clegg. I bet they regret that now.

LouiseCollins28 · 23/07/2019 21:00

I agree, needs to be gone, Can’t they do a recall petition in Sheffield Hallam or have they already tried and failed that?

Iambuffy · 23/07/2019 21:00

Thays what I usually do bravo

RedToothBrush · 23/07/2019 21:02

Can’t they do a recall petition in Sheffield Hallam or have they already tried and failed that?

Nope.

He's not done anything illegal which allows them to have a recall petition.

If we have a snap election I suspect Sheffield Hallam will be the only place in the country where people are jumping up and down with joy.

bravo does Boden represent nice things for you? Reassuring? Was it the antidote for the Johnson jitters?

I did the same thing with fat face after a turbulent 20s crisis. Fat face women had their shit together, or so i thought, thus if I wore fat face I to would have my shit together.

BigChocFrenzy · 23/07/2019 21:13

Any of these 3 circumstances would cause the Speaker to trigger the recall process / petition for an MP:

•	A custodial prison sentence of a year or less - longer sentences automatically disqualify MPs without need for a petition

•	Suspension from the House of least 10 sitting days or 14 calendar days

•	A conviction for providing false or misleading expenses claims.

That Bosenquet song was a tonic thanks Hate. Reggie Bosenquet has been responsible for two great songs; the other being the Not The Nine O'Clock News one.

Peregrina please don't say we have to wait 5 years this time? Shock

HateIsNotGood · 23/07/2019 21:40

Bravo and Hazard - there are sociological explanations that link 'consumerism' with 'fear'.

I've just had a jolly good discussion with DS (v rare) about NI/Israel and stuff, he said his concerns - and I advised him that whilst we live in one of the most 'free' countries in the world that I have never known such a time as now when you had to be very careful about what you said. As his Mum I said that anyone can 'label' anyone in as an 'extremist now.

Such a time where you could be so easily branded a racist, facist, anti-semite, sexist, etc - the most censored UK time I have ever known. This 'censorship' comes not from the 'extreme' but the middle.

Isthisafreename · 23/07/2019 21:45

@HateIsNotGood - he said his concerns

Out of curiosity - what are his concerns?

Peregrina · 23/07/2019 21:48

Peregrina please don't say we have to wait 5 years this time?

I hope not. I hope no more than three months. I hope Johnson loses his seat, and I hope the current incarnation of the Tory party is destroyed for a generation.

Mistigri · 23/07/2019 21:54

I'm starting to think that a second referendum is more likely than a GE, or at least likely to happen before GE. I guess it will depend whether bozo gets a polling bounce.

HateIsNotGood · 23/07/2019 21:57

I'll tell you his concerns (which I don't share) - but it would be very bad form if you criticise him for them.

NI - in response to my statement that there shouldn't be a border, and that the UK should just 'fail' to put up a border - he said then loads of people would then try and get to the UK through Ireland (we had lots more discussion, mostly of a geographical nature).

Israel - he couldn't understand why he couldn't criticize Israel for the treatment of Palestinians and why Israel still tried to take more of their land. I advised him that this is something that he had to be careful talking about - that at the moment, if you said things like that, some people might call him an anti-semite.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 23/07/2019 22:03

Oubliette I Bodened too. Blush I also comfort ate. I’m trying it all.

Nothing’s worked.

I’m veering between despair and anger. I just feel so furious with those who’ve brought us here.

Wonder if that gammon-faced Eton pig-shagger feels good about himself?

Actually he probably does doesn’t he? Angry

QueenOfThorns · 23/07/2019 22:20

I have so far not Bodened or comfort eaten

Instead, I have been cheering myself up catching up with the Handmaid’s Tale Confused

TatianaLarina · 23/07/2019 22:24

Who actually calls their son Mark Spencer?

He has a face from the League of Gentlemen.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 23/07/2019 22:24

I’m favouring comfort eating over comfort buying. Which is probably for the best.

My kids have acted like overtired whiny hits all day. I too blame Boris.

ContinuityError · 23/07/2019 22:25

I’m comfort drinking - I’m not sure if there’s a deep sociological message there though.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 23/07/2019 22:25

Damn it hits = gits

Bloody autocorrect

NoWordForFluffy · 23/07/2019 22:25

I've been eating birthday cake offcuts as I've made DS' cake for tomorrow and have decorated it tonight.

I have looked at Boden, but they don't have much in my particular combination (10, tall) so gave up.

I've got the news on, but the police helicopter is nearby so I can't hear a word. Possibly not a bad thing.

HateIsNotGood · 23/07/2019 22:27

"Wonder if that gammon-faced Eton pig-shagger feels good about himself?" - if the chocolates and Boden don't work then just pure offensive nastiness might do the trick.

I'm happy to question the current 'censorship' but hev forfend I'm sending my ds out to face this sort of vitriol ill-equipped. Don't you see what you are allowing yourselves to turn into?

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 23/07/2019 22:34

Wonder if that gammon-faced Eton pig-shagger feels good about himself?" - if the chocolates and Boden don't work then just pure offensive nastiness might do the trick.

Oh dear, have I been offensive and nasty about the person who unleashed all this on our country in a self-serving attempt to preserve his party?

I’m so sorry, I can’t think what came over me.

Iambuffy · 23/07/2019 22:36

Spam faced dave is quite happy, I'm sure in his £30k shed, writing his memoirs whilst wanking over pics of farage and waxley lemon...

ElenadeClermont · 23/07/2019 22:38

I am comfort-stitching.
