Westministenders: A New Approach? No chance.

Next week we will have a new PM. He will be called Boris Johnson unless something very odd has happened.

His first 72 hours will be 'interesting' especially if today's events are anything to go by.

His Cabinet is sure to be a horror show. It was noticable who abstained today - they don't think they will be in a Johnson Cabinet and clearly don't want to be.

To move forward Johnson must be able to survive a rebellion and a Queen's speech before now and 31st October.

And be able to unit his party in order to find a way forward.

And whilst parliament has voted to block proroguing parliament, it could still be dissolved if there is a vote of no confidence.

And what happens if Johnson loses a vote? Will he manage to become PM? Will there be a GE.

All the signs are that next week is going to be a hell of a ride.

Enjoy your weekend.

I'm joining the kids in the paddling pool

tobee · 23/07/2019 19:25

Just looking at description of the book Russian Roulette about the interference of Russia ensuring the election of Trump.

Do you think Russia is behind Johnson? Or just Brexit result? Or neither?

QueenOfThorns · 23/07/2019 19:33

I am also not supposed to be drinking during the week. Or eating nice comforting snacks Sad

Still, I know who to blame if I fall off the wagon!

StarryGazeyEyes · 23/07/2019 19:43

So far today I have eaten a pain au chocolat, a crisp butty, and a flapjack. I blame Boris.

prettybird · 23/07/2019 19:52

StarryGazeyEyes - that was me in March/April Sad I well and truly fell off the MN (HFLC) BootCamp and put on a stone and a half with all the wine, crisps and other comfort eating Shock

Lisette1940 · 23/07/2019 20:03

I had peanut butter and Nutella on toast for tea. I blame Boris (along with a crappy work week)

tobee · 23/07/2019 20:06

I had broccoli soup with broccoli cous cous ffs! Hmm

tobee · 23/07/2019 20:06

I thought "this is probably the same diet Boris has been on!!" HmmHmm

QueenOfThorns · 23/07/2019 20:12

Yay! Let’s all eat unhealthy crap and blame Boris! At least he’s good for something Grin

OublietteBravo · 23/07/2019 20:15

#BlameBoris seems like something I’d be happy to see trending.

IrenetheQuaint · 23/07/2019 20:17

Boris' international press is truly terrible. A far cry from when TM became PM and the general reaction was relief and cautious optimism (rather ill judged in retrospect, but hey).

Dug this up from YouTube. Boris for PM from 5mins13

Songsofexperience · 23/07/2019 20:19

Trump says Boris is successful because he's like him...
Indeed, neither have won the popular vote.

tobee · 23/07/2019 20:19

The trouble is with Blame Boris makes me think someone's going to burst into song. Richard Stilgoe probably

OublietteBravo · 23/07/2019 20:23

I’m managing not to comfort eat. Unfortunately I’m comfort shopping instead. I’ve spent a small fortune in the Boden sale Blush

JustAnotherPoster00 · 23/07/2019 20:38

I think this sums it up quite well

frumpety · 23/07/2019 20:40

Who was the woman talking to Evan Davis on PM tonight about half past 5 ? I think she was a supporter of Boris , but then she kept really pushing the point that Leave won mainly because of him and I couldn't then work out if she was friend or foe but that I bet he wished she would shut up !

Can you all stop comfort eating , its hard enough to find clothes for the fuller figure, without you adding to the competition Smile

Jared O'Mara
‏*@jaredomaramp*

Comms Team signing off... forever: Jared, you are the most disgustingly morally bankrupt person I have ever had the displeasure of working with. You do not care about your constituents. You do not care about anyone but yourself.

I cannot and will not defend you and your vile, inexcusable contempt for the people who voted you in. You selfish, degenerate prick.

My fear is that now (as I quit) the rest of the staff will leave and once again you will close your office and stop helping anyone but still take your wages until you have the decency to call a byelection.

Leaving constituents desperate for representation again. No matter if they are having their homes taken away, their liberaties disgraced or being deported because of your inaction.

Sheffield Hallam deserves so much better than you. You have wasted opportunities which people dare not to even dream of.

Consider this my resignation.

Thanks

Gareth Arnold

Not to be outdone by Johnson as today we all despair at the shitness of politicians in the UK, my favourite Sheffield MP seems to be at it again...

Shehab Khan @shehabkhan
Unbelievable. Looks like Jared O'Mara's Comms guy has just resigned by taking over his former boss's Twitter..

I think that's the best resignation this week.

I hope someone can better it tomorrow.

I remember being absolutely devastated when Major won in 1992, but then he was absolutely thrashed 5 years later. I hope that the same happens to Johnson. It's a question of which group is going to fall out with him first.

LouiseCollins28 · 23/07/2019 20:50

Novara Media?! Grin Grin I’m not especially a fan of Boris but that’s just desperate!

HateIsNotGood · 23/07/2019 20:53

" I’m comfort shopping instead. I’ve spent a small fortune in the Boden sale" - bloody hell - talk about MN cliches.

The song was for toobe and everyone else that needs cheering up. I did pop in the AIBU woe Boris thread too.

Seriously though, I do think Reggie B is where Borrie J gets his inspiration from.

TheABC · 23/07/2019 20:54

I am waiting for the fireworks to start and taking all pronouncements with a bloody big pinch of salt. It does not matter what he has promised. It only matters what he can force through - with a majority of three. That's not going to be comfortable.

Iambuffy · 23/07/2019 20:55

Stewart lees Brexit analogy:
Voting ukip/BP as a protest vote is like shitting in your hotel bed to protest about bad service...then realising you have to sleep in the shit.

As for J O Mara....why in the hell haven't the people of sheffield hallam got rid of the odious little fucker?
