Westminstenders: It couldn't get any worse... Until today

We are trapped in the tailspin of the end of the UK. Firmly headed downward and getting more and more frenzied and desperate.

Even the most sensible of types like David Allen Green have finally noticed that Brexit isn't about leaving the EU it's about the frenzied and wilful destruction of our state instutions and structure. The collapse of the civil service, of our justice system, our democratic institutions and social order. All in the name of rule Britannia, a warped sense of taking back control to preserve an ideal that never existed and an idea of sovereignity that simply was a fantasy.

We move ever closer to Johnson becoming Prime Minister and a life under President Trump.

Joy.

Ode to Joy really isn't that bad.

woodpigeons

Back in the 80s, my half-German DS was called a Nazi at school.

When DW spoke to the assailant's mother, she said that it was just something kids do. DW agreed, but pointed out that it's up to parents to explain right and wrong to their children, what was acceptable and what crossed the line. The mother just told her to stop being oversensitive and walked away.

DW was by then teeth-clenchingly used to (mainly the older generation) clicking their heels and throwing in the odd Sieg Heil when they learned she was German (despite being born 10 years after the bloody war), but couldn't believe that this was now leaking down to the next generation. Nothing seems to change.

MockerstheFeManist · 12/07/2019 18:33

Looking forward to Andrew Neil tonight ripping them both to shreds.

Outsomnia · 12/07/2019 18:46

At what time and what channel is the debate on thanks. I never watch TV, but might make an exception for this one with Andrew Neil.

I doubt it will make a difference, same shit different day. Anyway the only people concerned are the Tory members who will vote in this thing or who may already have voted anyway.

MockerstheFeManist · 12/07/2019 18:57

BBC1 7.00

Not a debate. More of a police interview with any luck.

Outsomnia · 12/07/2019 19:04

Mockers,

Thanks for the information. Will miss a lot of it though, but can always catch up later I suppose. The comments on here will guide me as to whether it is worth it or not!

RedToothBrush · 12/07/2019 19:05

Watching the Hunt interview and all I can think of due to his body language, posture, and expression is

ARNOLD ARNOLD HE'S ARNOLD RIMMER

There are words coming out of his mouth but all I'm hearing is

ARNOLD ARNOLD HE'S ARNOLD RIMMER

and I'm struggling to get past that.

Hunt grilling begins 19.02. We have to wait four minutes before Hunt mentions he is an entrepreneur.

"You're not exactly Bill Gates," says Neill.

Hunt is a slippery slithering eel who refuses to admit that he said what he said when he said it because what he meant was what he says he meant now.

And says he's a great negotiator, citing the great NHS pay deal he rammed through.

What a waste of space.

CrunchyCarrot · 12/07/2019 19:21

Hmmmm....

Westminstenders: It couldn't get any worse... Until today
Lonelycrab · 12/07/2019 19:27

Arnold Rimmer but with a “W” where the “H” should be🙂

So Trumps creating a(nother) war to boost his chances of a second term, and we just jump to his commandSad

RedToothBrush · 12/07/2019 19:30

Arnold Rimmer but with a “W” where the “H” should be

I always thought it was a "c" where the "h" should be....

ooo Johnson nearly started to lose his temper with Neil.

That was a flash of anger and frustration.

Interesting.

RedToothBrush · 12/07/2019 19:46

He does NOT like being challenged.

He is very aggressive. Thats not going to win friends.

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 19:47

He's already won red

This performance is for his paymasters in Washington

BestIsWest · 12/07/2019 19:48

I can’t watch (and the tennis was on). I get so tense and angry.

Icantreachthepretzels · 12/07/2019 19:53

Surely any comparison of any current tory to Rimmer is deeply deeply unfair to poor Arnold J.
No one - in all the universe - is as big as a smeghead as Boris and/or Hunt

RedToothBrush · 12/07/2019 19:55

Neil and Johnson talked about GATT and Neil makes a comment I don't recall, and Johnson gets annoys and tries to make Neil look bad and like he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Johnson: Stick to the detail Andrew!

Neil: But what about paragraph c ?

Johnson: bluster

Neil: Do you even know whats in paragraph c

Johnson: er erm. er.... No.

Oh that was beautiful.

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 12/07/2019 19:56

Oh i know that he's already won.

Its interesting seeing what we are going to be in for. And he's been hiding for the last few months.

Its going to be worse than i feared.

MockerstheFeManist · 12/07/2019 19:59

Entirely predictable.

Will not answer a single bloody question with anything but waffle, change the subject, yeah-but-Jeremy-Corbyn and it's all the fault of the BBC.

Sorry we didn't get a question about Bum Boys, Piccannies and Letterbox Women.

Outsomnia · 12/07/2019 20:04

It is very embarrassing to think that Johnson will be representing us on the World Stage very soon. I'd say the EU have the measure of him already though.

What a plonker and a bluffer he is. But only those who care will actually care.

I'm going to have a glass of wine or two now, am totally fed up at the way this is all panning out. 51st state of the Union is right.

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 20:11

I ended up at the fracture clinic earlier today.

I'm in a boot thing and on pain meds.

Otherwise, I would join you in drowning my sorrows.

I was triaged, x rayed and treated within 2 hours.

I felt quite tearful at what's going to happen to the nhs soon.

bellinisurge · 12/07/2019 20:13

Hope you're going to be ok soon @Iambuffy .

Justaboutdone · 12/07/2019 20:14

Iambuffy - hope you are doing ok.

The fracture clinic was a real eye opener to me!

2 hours is really good.

All I saw is seriously overworked nurses and doctors who had an unbelievable amount of patients to see.

On a good day it would run 90 mins late. And the poor staff have to deal with it all.

And how many mistakes are made.

Peregrina · 12/07/2019 20:17

Hunt apparently says that we will be out by Christmas.
Of course, by then the Tories could have lost another election, with Boris Johnson losing his seat, and another hung Parliament with the Queen scratching her head as to who to call to try to form a Government. And at that point they might see sense, and realise that a genuine Coalition is the only was forward, and park Brexit for the time being, and in fact park it for a generation, or at least a decade.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/07/2019 20:19

That's a bugger Iambuffy I hope you heal quickly.
