Brexit

Westminstenders: It couldn't get any worse... Until today

We are trapped in the tailspin of the end of the UK. Firmly headed downward and getting more and more frenzied and desperate.

Even the most sensible of types like David Allen Green have finally noticed that Brexit isn't about leaving the EU it's about the frenzied and wilful destruction of our state instutions and structure. The collapse of the civil service, of our justice system, our democratic institutions and social order. All in the name of rule Britannia, a warped sense of taking back control to preserve an ideal that never existed and an idea of sovereignity that simply was a fantasy.

We move ever closer to Johnson becoming Prime Minister and a life under President Trump.

Joy.

Ode to Joy really isn't that bad.

Hope you heal quickly, IamBuffy Flowers

NoWordForFluffy · 12/07/2019 20:34

What did you do to yourself, buffy? I hope you heal quickly (is it definitely a fracture or potentially a bad soft tissue injury?).

I was musing on my way home earlier that DD's birthday accommodated the EU referendum and DS' birthday is when Bozo is very likely to become PM. I'm not liking the shit that happens on their birthdays!

TokyoSushi · 12/07/2019 20:39

Just watching now, prioritised the tennis!

NoWordForFluffy · 12/07/2019 20:42

I'm still on the last bits of the Federer game. 🎾

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/07/2019 20:54

Anne Widdecombe is on Crystal Maze tonight. She was futilely throwing bean bags at targets. Richard Ayoade had a brilliant quip. "Just imagine one of those targets wants a living wage".

😂😂😂

She must be short of cash to a) do so many reality-type things and b) become an MEP for the BXP.

tobee · 12/07/2019 21:04

Oh Iam I hope the pain meds are working well and can rest up. Cake

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 21:19

Not too bad thank you.

I tripped on ds2s football whilst I was hanging washing.

I know.

I need a better injury story than that!

Definately a fracture. Lovely bruising coming out...

I watched the tennis with foot perched on a stool.

I just couldn't face the "debate"

NoWordForFluffy · 12/07/2019 21:24

Fractures can heal more quickly than soft tissue injuries, so hopefully that's a good thing (as long as they're not displaced / fail to unite etc). Can you mobilise with the boot, or are you mostly stationary now?

Make sure you keep on top of your pain meds. Nobody needs a hero trying to cope!

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 21:31

I'm rather ashamed to admit ds1 and his asthma nurse made me go in. (He happened to have a check up this morning)

Good job I did!

Its not displaced but for to go back to fracture clinic to check on it.

Just very sore.

Sure, it could be worse!

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 21:31

I can hobble along in the boot but am keeping it elevated atm

Oh bless you. It's no fun being injured (I'm coming up to the year anniversary of throwing myself down the stairs and tearing a shoulder tendon!).

Make sure they look after you at home and don't exert yourself too much. And did I say take painkillers? ALL the painkillers!

yolofish · 12/07/2019 21:49

yep buffy painkillers, painkillers, painkillers and elevation of the limb.
Hope you feel better soon.

I have missed the Amber Rudd fiasco, any pointers on where to find it?

jasjas1973 · 12/07/2019 22:16

You should only take the painkillers they ve prescribed and no NSAIDS like Nurofen, they are linked to bleeded and slow bone growth.

Def elevate your leg.

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 22:17

They gave me ibuprofen at the hospital!
Thanks for the heads up.

yolofish · 12/07/2019 22:32

oh and also eat lots of protein - very good for healing and muscle repair

Iambuffy · 12/07/2019 22:36

I'd heard that.
I had eggs for supper.
They didnt give me any pain meds...I do have some nefapam left over from my gallbladder op.
Its probably still in date...

20southgate · 12/07/2019 22:37

....

woodpigeons · 12/07/2019 22:37

Thank you everyone.
BigChoc I’m sorry it happened to you.
My family has always experienced racism but it seems to be getting worse due to hateful people like Farage.
It’s really quite frightening.

woodpigeons · 12/07/2019 22:47

And sorry to you Hasentein that’s awful for your DS.
Just catching up now.

NoWordForFluffy · 12/07/2019 22:57

'You should only take the painkillers they ve prescribed.'

'They didnt give me any pain meds.'

Well, I'm pretty sure they didn't intend for you to have no pain relief, so maybe fine something which works for you.

Paracetamol is actually apparently a really good painkiller if you need to take something regularly.

I had rather a lot of codeine post-op, but don't recommend that.

Co-codamol would be OK though. An OTC does should take the edge of (think 8/500 is the OTC strength).

lljkk · 12/07/2019 23:02

Bloody hell, last 2 callers to Radio5 phone in (yes I am turning off).

"John Major pirogued Parliament lots of times!"

"Boris Johnson gets bullied for his stutter."

"Parliament should be dissolved to get Brexit through."

And Brexit voters wonder why they get called thick. (sigh)

prettybird · 12/07/2019 23:04

Sorry to hear your woes buffy (but yaaay for the NHS Smile): for pain relief, you can take ibuprofen at the same time as paracetamol and codeine (or cocodamol).

lljkk · 12/07/2019 23:12

(bummer about the injury I'm not a complete cah ignoring that but I really want to talk Brexit):

If BJ pirogues Parliament... for how long? I mean, would he move to just shut it down on 1 August & not sit again until 5 November... there must be SOME limit to how long pirogueing can happen for.
