I know this isn't due to brexit- but i wonder if there is a certain context now in which there might be political pressure to back a US company rather than Airbus.
TisI

I suspect this is exactly what has happened wrt the BA 737 Max purchase.

If it is, then it has everything to do with Brexit, and the background of impending* trade deals with the US.

*still TBA obv.

So Stewart out. He was never going to get it given his support lay in those that were not even Conservative voters, let alone the MPs and even more extreme, the Conservative members.

prettybird · 19/06/2019 18:09

(at least today, I managed to post the results on the correct thread Blush)

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 19/06/2019 18:09

Ouch. Hadn’t expected him to lose votes.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 19/06/2019 18:10

Damn Stewart the Sane is out.

Whisky2014 · 19/06/2019 18:11

Rory is out! Omg

wheresmymojo · 19/06/2019 18:12

So next round is 1pm tomorrow?

I'm assuming a fair few of Stewart's 27 will go to Gove as the only other one saying they want to avoid no deal?

OublietteBravo · 19/06/2019 18:14

I’m sad that Lovely-for-a-Tory Rory is out. Even though I knew he’d never make it to the final two.

placemats · 19/06/2019 18:14

So Johnson will get in and leave will be delayed once again. It certainly will not happen on the 31st of October 2019 and I doubt it will happen on 31/10/2020 either.

It's all a matter of give and take really.

I still maintain it's between Johnson and Hunt. No way will the latter win it.

tobee · 19/06/2019 18:16

Oh it will be great having the next round tomorrow. More lovely interviews with the gorgeous MPs in the lobby after the result. Flushed with their power and the media attention 💋 😘

Songsofexperience · 19/06/2019 18:16

Looks like we'll end up with Johnson v Hunt.

bellinisurge · 19/06/2019 18:16

Add it up. More MPs DONT want Johnson than do want him. Listening to various radio interviews with various Conservative Associations across the country over the past couple of days, I wasn't detecting overwhelming love for Johnson among members. Obviously, like Labour, fuck knows about the impact of entry-ists.

The PM will have to ask nicely for any extension, it is not in his position to presume he will get one.
There will be tough requirements put on it if there is any extension at all.

colouringinpro · 19/06/2019 18:19

F**K tho I know not surprising.

FiveAcorns · 19/06/2019 18:22

PMK.

Frankiestein402 · 19/06/2019 18:24

Not political - simple commercials, iag (ba parent) will have 'negotiated' a hell of a deal from a desperate boeing and its only a 'letter of intent' - boeing are at serious risk and needed to get something announced at Paris air show.
Equally the lease/airline market want boeing/airbus to maintain rough parity as it let's them play one off against the other.

Besides ain't no way our current political leaders have the brain cells between them to come up with any industrial strategy, whether or not trump was making demands.

MotherOfSoupDragons · 19/06/2019 18:25

No deal here we come, I reckon.

placemats · 19/06/2019 18:26

I live in the north west (for now) and I'm wondering has anyone else got that reassuring letter from SP Energy announcing they would keep the lights on?

placemats · 19/06/2019 18:29

There will be tough requirements put on it if there is any extension at all.

Remind me how many times it's been extended so far?

Parliament is really tough I know. NOT! - if that sounds childish, then I'm just mimicking the current government and Parliament.

RedToothBrush · 19/06/2019 18:30

Trying to explain the Tory election to my 4 year old.

He knows there is going to be a new prime minister. (He knows who Mrs May and Mr Speaker are for some strange reason...)

I've just tried to explain why we don't like Mr Johnson.

"he calls people names"

"but why?"

"cos he's not very nice"

"are they naughty people"

"no, Boris Johnson just isn't a nice man"

"but why?"

Kind of stuck on how to explain it to him further!

I think your 4 year old is whynding you up Red

RedToothBrush · 19/06/2019 18:34

I think he has a point. Why is Johnson so nasty?!

prettybird · 19/06/2019 18:36

RedToothBrush · 19/06/2019 18:38

You mean when they have privately all said he's fucked their campaigns?
