Here we go again...

I really can't bring myself to be bothered by drug use. Cocaine use was rife a while ago (I'm not sure what it's like now, I imagine similar or possibly less widespread).

I agree with both AdequateFood and Violet. Let's just get on with sorting this bloody mess.

Lots and lots of rain in the forecast for the next two weeks.

I just need it to be nice on 22 and 23 June (DD's - 6th - birthday weekend).

The weeds on my allotment are loving the rain. Sigh.

Surely if you know you've taken drugs in the past you wouldn't be stupid enough to put yourself forward as PM? The vetting system would weed you out ( pardon the pun).

I doubt there's many in that list who have never taken drugs!

Agreed. If Boris has never done drugs I’ll eat my sons stinky socks. Boris sounds like he’s on coke a lot of the time (though that’s probably just an adorable personality quirk Envy)

So is it compulsory that anyone vying to be PM has to have taken drugs?
I've managed to get through life so far without them as I would think most people.
I find it quite scary that not many in that list haven't taken drugs and that the public think it's okay for them to do it but not for us o do it.
Aren't they vetted thoroughly before putting themselves forward? I would have thought the "Have you ever taken illegal substances?" to be pretty high up on the questionnaire.

Probably put his Dick in some sort of dead creature too a la Cameron 🤢

Surely Leadsom is pretending to have smoked a spliff to make herself seem a bit more interesting?

There is no vetting system to be PM

The amount of people you'd lose by asking that question is probably quite high!

Or maybe that's just the people I know, but of my age group, barely anyone I know could answer negatively to it.

Maybe it's just me and Adequate though!

I've never taken illegal drugs,
never smoked tobacco,
never been intoxicated,
never even had more than 2 alcoholic drinks in a day - I rarely have one
(we won't discuss chocolate)

I still don't care what others put in their body

Are we too blasé?!

Unless you're actually addicted to something which is rotting your brain then I really can't give any fucks. Maybe I'm wrong, but 🤷‍♀️

(And given the majority of the Tory candidates' no deal attitude, who could tell if they were addicted to brain-rotting substances or not?)

I’m on team blasé really want lemon drizzle though.

I think if it’s in your past and it’s not had a big impact on you I’m not really fussed. How many teachers are there currently teaching who did drugs at uni, loads I’ll bet. And I doubt it has any impact at all on their ability to teach.

I don't know anyone in my group of peers who took nothing illegal as a student, many of them now have senior civil servant jobs.
I think there is a huge class divide about what is considered okay and not.
I was enough of a working class Scot to mostly stick to ethanol.
But nothing was a lovely as the morphine I had post birthing. I understood the joy that my social work clients in the ex mining villages in South Yorkshire were talking about when they described how their first hit of heroin had led to the situation that I was removing their DC from them. Often really decent people who had fallen under the lure of a drug potent enough that they would sell their own DC's shoes while they slept to ensure their next hit. Some of the less decent ones sold their own dc's bodies.
I'm not impressed by the total double standards in the UK about drugs, it should be one rule for all.

I make a fucking amazing lemon drizzle cake!

My life is as far removed from my life at 18-23 that I might as well be a different person now. So, yeah, blasé!

Now, oddly maybe, I detest morphine / codeine etc. I can't think of anything worse as it just makes me ill.

Most people of my age (54) who went to university in a big city will have taken drugs at least occasionally - maybe science grads a bit less than arts and social sciences grads.

Also any MP of my age who worked as a journalist or in a media job in London is highly likely to have partaken of illegal substances at some point.

Yes, this, it's very much a class thing. And geography too, my friends from smaller northern towns who went to universities like Durham seem to have been more sedate (more booze but less drugs).

I had a cocktail of oromorph, nefapam and tramadol when I had biliary colic.

Had an odd effect.

Didn't touch the pain but I simply didn't care anymore...
