Please look at Boris Johnson’s children

The ones we know of ...

woman19 · 12/06/2019 13:24

I have mixed race children and they deserve better than a society fronted by this absolute twat

I quite agree. I have seen it in real time over the last 3 years, and watch it taking its toll on friends' children as well as nationally reported racial violence.

I am revolted by the actual racism that he, his followers and handmaids incite. The increase in violent and verbal racist attacks is directly attributable to them.

And they know it; it's why they protest their innocence so much.

prettybird · 12/06/2019 13:43

To be fair on howabout - while she might be a Leave supporter (however misguided I might think that is Wink), she is in no way Right wing Confused

She is a true Scottish Labour supporter - and her reasons for supporting Leave are not the racist ones of many of the more extreme Brexiters. She is one of the few Leavers I have come across who has been able to argue positively for her opinion - even if I disagree.

woman19 · 12/06/2019 13:57

This is what they posted:

Given Lammy's views on Red Nose Day etc perhaps he actually agrees with Boris

Just the usual lexist stuff, with all that goes with it........ Sadly.

I can't imagine they are Labour in any way shape or form.

woman19 · 12/06/2019 14:00

Sorry, I should have said, just the usual brexist and lexist stuff.
It used to be just lazy, now it is something much worse.

PinkieTuscadero · 12/06/2019 14:06

The Kate Hoey school of lexiting.

BigChocFrenzy · 12/06/2019 14:06

All the Lexiters I know in rl or online do indeed criticise the soft left & New Labour

BUT
all of them criticise the Tory right wing far more

A genuine Lexiters would be e.g. criticising Boris's tax giveaway to the better off,
not always going into whataboutery or diversion onto New Labour's sins

What Lexiter would keep criticising the last Labour govt & PMs from 1997-2010 (!)
when there is so much more & more recent to criticise about austerity, Tory cuts and Tory financial sleeze?

I've never known genuine Lexiters who defend Boris, Redwood, JRM and were "inspired as a feminist by Thatcher" Hmm

The only ones I know who continually excuse the hard right and attack centre / left politicians - and express a preference for Corbyn -
are those on the hard right who - rightly - think Corbyn is their best weapon against Labour coming to power

BigChocFrenzy · 12/06/2019 14:11

Kate Hoey is indeed on the authoritarian right, a cuckoo in the Labour nest

I asked about Brexit, because there are a few people who because of Brexit have

either turned 180 degrees from hard left to hard right
e.g. Claire Fox joining the Faragists

or discovered their true party, e.g. Hoey, who would fit in well with the Faragists.

borntobequiet · 12/06/2019 14:31

That reminds me that I haven't yet heard a cuckoo this year. Has anyone?
Of course they are immigrants so might have been put off by Brexit.

prettybird · 12/06/2019 15:05

That was one of the lines in "Years and Years", when there was the change in government and Viktor's (relative) safety there was a concern (after he had made sure to get there rather than France): when someone said something along the lines of, "But aren't they Hard Left?" , the reply was, "Hard Left, Hard Right, they're both the same" Sad

ContinuityError · 12/06/2019 15:05

If you don't know that and have never researched the contexts of the accusations of intemperate language then perhaps you should question your assumptions more.

Using clearly racist language in a jibe is still offensive and inexcusable.

Mistigri · 12/06/2019 15:19

No one who is seriously prepared to defend Johnson has any right to be considered left wing.

jasjas1973 · 12/06/2019 15:25

Who cares? a brexitier is brexitier, like Corbyn they are associating themselves with some pretty unsavoury policies and beliefs plus enabling a tory brexit, which will be at odds with their more socialist beliefs.

Yet to hear of any rational argument to leave from Howabout or anyone else...and i've really tried to see the positives.

The UKs problems are 98% to do with the UK, to concentrate on the 2% that may be the EUs is a spectacular own goal.

prettybird · 12/06/2019 15:45

I'm not saying I agree with her Confused (I disagree with her on other topics especially Scottish Independence but we are usually on the same page about education Wink) but she has always engaged courteously and positively on Brexit.

Some of her reasons for believing in Leave are indeed Lexit based ones - but are also similar to the ones my (South African/Australian) cousin's boyfriend used: that we should be able to allow more people in from developing or Commonwealth countries (at the time, he was struggling to get her a working visa to be able to move to England from the States).

Although at least he admits he was conned Grin - and would vote Remain now Smile

Peregrina · 12/06/2019 15:56

It was never necessary to want to leave the EU to allow in more people from the Commonwealth and developing countries. Only Cameron's arbitrary figures and May's xenophobia.

When people talk about the Commonwealth, I really do question whether they mean India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Ghana etc. or whether they mean the White Commonwealth.? I strongly suspect the latter.

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2019 16:20

Adam Bienkov @AdamBienkov
Conservative MP Dominic Grieve says he will vote to bring down the government if it attempts to leave the EU without a deal, even if it means he has to resign the Tory whip.

Well...

Eddie Mair is having fun with that awful press conference on LBC right now. Grin

RedToothBrush · 12/06/2019 16:38

Heather Stewart @GuardianHeather
Crikey: Labour's @gareth_snell says he "made a mistake," in not voting for the PM's deal at the third opportunity. He will abstain, rather than backing his party's bid to block no deal today.

Spot on from Dawn Foster.

"It’s absolutely right to want a politics that is less febrile, less angry and more understanding of the need for compromise and mutual respect and understanding. But anyone seeking that needs to understand what it is that people on the left and right are angry about, and provide answers that speak to them now. There’s no use talking to the place politicians either wish voters to be in, or once thought they were. That’s exactly what Rory Stewart is doing.

Uniting our very divided country will take a great deal more than electing another bland, posh, centre-right white guy saviour, however good his social media game is. And until those who want to return to a more unifying politics recognise that, they have little hope of changing where we are."

LouiseCollins28 · 12/06/2019 16:46

Just catching up on the Boris launch, I've been out all day. My first thought is that the "Back Boris" script on his blue lecturn thingy is absolutely begging to be "photo shopped!!" Grin Grin

tobee · 12/06/2019 16:48
