Westminstenders: Happy Brexit Day!

Happy Brexit day!

Oh wait. No its not.

May looks like she is going to bring the MVIII (Meaningful Vote 3) tomorrow minus the PD (political declaration).

The legalities of this are questionable should the vote pass. The MV needs to have an accompanying PD, by law under the terms of the Withdrawal Act.

That's kind of irrelevant given the likelihood of the deal passing anyway. The DUP have apparently negotiated a 'Stormont Lock' to get more assurances, only for them promptly to say there's no chance of them voting for the deal anyway.

The vote is all about Labour v Conservatives and where we can lay the blame for no deal in two weeks time.

Meanwhile we are already into a prolonged Tory Leader Election with all its glorious gentlemanly behaviour.

Anyway its time for extra time and national riots for delaying Brexit.

I normally lurk on these threads - thank you Red for keeping them going with such insight and dedication.

But am de-lurking as I have just horrified myself by realising that there is a real possibility of Johnson getting through to the final two in a leadership election (given no. of ERG members vs rest of MPs). If that happens, the members will elect him for sure. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. We're fucked. Sorry I can't be more eloquent right now. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Peregrina · 29/03/2019 06:48

May only promised to resign if she won the vote. She will try any trick in the book, if she loses.

Now when Maggie Thatcher began to completely lose it, she had a voice of sanity in Dennis telling her 'Give up, it's not worth it love', or words to that effect, but Philip May seems to be doing the opposite, and was responsible for the silly speech last week.

6 pages in, this is what I get for going to bed early!

Thanks red

Flowerplower · 29/03/2019 06:49

Mine was supervising me out in the garden yesterday as I started getting my veg patch ready for the season.

bellinisurge · 29/03/2019 06:49

For the first time, I talked about it with DH as soon as I woke up. I always try and keep some Brexit free zones in the house.

Sostenueto · 29/03/2019 06:51

This is what I want to do...run and hide away till tomorrow.

Westminstenders: Happy Brexit Day!
CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/03/2019 06:51

Sorry that’s vote results at 2.30 pm.
Parliamentary business starts at 9.30am

Peregrina · 29/03/2019 06:52

We will all have to channel Uri Geller at 14:30 to make sure that the right result comes. I am no longer sure what the right result is - we have had some people arguing for the WA, and some not. Whatever it is, we don't need a vacuum.

Songsofexperience · 29/03/2019 06:52

I know how you feel sos
It's going to be a huge distraction today!

BercowsSilkTie · 29/03/2019 06:54

Morning.

PostNotInHaste · 29/03/2019 06:54

StripeyChina, there’s so much info and we’re all so tired it’s hard to find anything at the moment.

I took it that she’s only going if she gets the WA through and that offering her resignation was her attempt to do so. So if it doesn’t pass she stays. Who knows though at this point, every time feel there’s some hope it vanishes again.

Sostenueto · 29/03/2019 06:55

Love the cat pictures. Wine

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/03/2019 06:55

If for our bad luck, we crash out with no deal.
How long does is take to get back into the EU.
I’m not advocating it at all, but the Leavers need to experience the shitshow that will be a no deal Brexit before they finally wake up and see what they voted for.

I want Theresa May to be sectioned.
There are so may self interested c*s in the Tory party.

MarshaBradyo · 29/03/2019 06:57

I wonder how these pro Brexit papers will do headlines when the bad stuff happens after no deal

Peregrina · 29/03/2019 06:58

The Leavers will blame every one but themselves. The only ones I feel a modicum of sympathy for are those who voted leave because they thought it would help the NHS. The rest - no.

TokyoSushi · 29/03/2019 06:59

Morning! PMK, Happy Non Brexit Day!

countrygirl99 · 29/03/2019 07:01

My plan B is for Scotland to be independent and allow anyone with a Scottish grandparent to apply for citizenship.

Plan C is emigration but Paraguay and Panama are looking the most likely options for a 60yo so I'm banking on Scotland.

TokyoSushi · 29/03/2019 07:01

Gosh, the questions on AIBU are an eye opener!

LizzieSiddal · 29/03/2019 07:01

Sorry for barging in but v worried about No deal.

I’m hoping the sensible people in the Caninet, (if there are any) would resign on mass, if she tried to go for No Deal.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/03/2019 07:01

Glimmer of hope.
If TMs WA doesn’t pass today we could go to the EU and agree to take part in the European elections to try and get an extension till May 22.

I suspect if that happens, we will get something like a soft Brexit with Gove as PM.

Although based on the indicative votes, MPs should choose between a Customs Union ( soft Brexit?) and a 2nd referendum

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 29/03/2019 07:01

Morning all and Happy No Brexit Day! Am working from home today but don't expect much actual work will get done...

Really worried about the Thug March this afternoon. When you compare the peace and good humour of last Saturday with Suzanne Evans calling for Leavers to demonstrate their 'rage' this afternoon...well, I have no doubt that it could get really nasty with Yaxley-Lennon's pissed-up knuckle-draggers out in force. Stay safe anyone who works nearby.

BercowsSilkTie · 29/03/2019 07:01

Anyone got a link to the pro brexit thing? Can't find it in active
