Westminstenders: Happy Brexit Day!

Happy Brexit day!

Oh wait. No its not.

May looks like she is going to bring the MVIII (Meaningful Vote 3) tomorrow minus the PD (political declaration).

The legalities of this are questionable should the vote pass. The MV needs to have an accompanying PD, by law under the terms of the Withdrawal Act.

That's kind of irrelevant given the likelihood of the deal passing anyway. The DUP have apparently negotiated a 'Stormont Lock' to get more assurances, only for them promptly to say there's no chance of them voting for the deal anyway.

The vote is all about Labour v Conservatives and where we can lay the blame for no deal in two weeks time.

Meanwhile we are already into a prolonged Tory Leader Election with all its glorious gentlemanly behaviour.

Anyway its time for extra time and national riots for delaying Brexit.

2.30 pm @BercowsSilkTie . Sad

Sky news did some piece earlier at a climbing centre. Vox pops including some youngish normal looking climber bloke. "I don't trust any of them." Long pause. "Except Jacob Rees-Mogg " Confused

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2019 13:37

I'm liking Chris Bryant!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 29/03/2019 13:37

The Guardian site is streaming the debate live.

BercowsSilkTie · 29/03/2019 13:40

@tobee thank you

averylongtimeago · 29/03/2019 13:41

I can't bear to listen. I don't know what I am more afraid of tbh, TM getting this through then a far right takeover of the negotiations or it not getting passed and parliamentary squabbles leading to a no deal crash out on the 12th.

Off to dig the potager in the sunshine, while I still can.

Pilcrow · 29/03/2019 13:43

I’m on a train going into London (have an appointment unfortunately) and several blokes have got on, at least one wearing a tee-shirt that says BETRAYED in the back in very large letters.

I can’t hear everything they’re saying but they’re talking very earnestly and reminiscing about their favourite great moments of Leave rhetoric. Think they’re going to meet up with Farridge’s triumphant arrival in London Hmm

Saw a clip on Twitter of an Orange march in London

It's a mystery, I tells ya, the way so many Brexiteer politicians have suddenly decided to unpatriotically vote their country into slavery/vassalage/betrayal/whatever they were saying about the WA before.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but enjoyable for Bercow lovers.

RedToothBrush · 29/03/2019 13:52

Boris Johnson @BorisJohnson
Today is the day we promised the country we would leave the European Union. I bitterly regret that we have failed to keep that promise. Instead we will today vote on the Withdrawal Agreement

I have been and remain intensely critical of the deal. But we have a choice to make now, and that means choosing between options that actually exist. I have come to the sad conclusion that neither this government nor this parliament is willing to leave with no deal

We therefore run the risk of being forced to accept an even worse version of Brexit or losing Brexit altogether. A bad deal that we have a chance to improve in the next stage of negotiations must be better than those alternatives

It is very painful to vote for this deal. But I hope we can now work together to remedy its defects, avoid the backstop trap and strive to deliver the Brexit people voted for

Realised that there is more votes for the leadership if you don't go for no deal, huh Boris???

{Ewe...yes Raab is alleged to be preparing to run for leadership}

Does he know where Calais is yet? My bet it is somewhere near New Jersey.

AutumnCrow · 29/03/2019 13:54

Sit Geoffrey Clifton-Brown (Tory, Cotswolds) says we'll end up like Turkey SHOCK HORROR without doing what he says which is vote for the WA.

Dear oh dear.

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 29/03/2019 13:54

'faith in democracy and this parliament will be severely damaged if you don't vote for this deal'

Bit late for that, mate.

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 29/03/2019 13:55

That's some epic comb-over action Stephen Timms has going on.

keepforgettingmyusername · 29/03/2019 13:55

Thanks, I have five live on now Smile

MockerstheFeManist · 29/03/2019 13:55

DadDadDad · 29/03/2019 13:56

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2019 13:57

But I hope we can now work together to avoid the backstop trap...

BJ believes in unicorns then!

Notstrongandstable · 29/03/2019 13:57

When do we expect the result to be in?
Have to pick kids up and do a blooming Easter egg hunt fundraiser after school 😬

1tisILeClerc · 29/03/2019 13:57

That Boris quote is sort of fine except the last sentence. There is the bigger problem in that his story changes every few days.

wheresmymojo · 29/03/2019 13:58

My guess is 3pm ish?
