Westminstenders: Happy Brexit Day!

Happy Brexit day!

Oh wait. No its not.

May looks like she is going to bring the MVIII (Meaningful Vote 3) tomorrow minus the PD (political declaration).

The legalities of this are questionable should the vote pass. The MV needs to have an accompanying PD, by law under the terms of the Withdrawal Act.

That's kind of irrelevant given the likelihood of the deal passing anyway. The DUP have apparently negotiated a 'Stormont Lock' to get more assurances, only for them promptly to say there's no chance of them voting for the deal anyway.

The vote is all about Labour v Conservatives and where we can lay the blame for no deal in two weeks time.

Meanwhile we are already into a prolonged Tory Leader Election with all its glorious gentlemanly behaviour.

Anyway its time for extra time and national riots for delaying Brexit.

{Sorry haven’t RTFT - MV3 is today??}
I think it is more MV3 'lite'. No I have no idea either.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2019 13:17

Oh, and I'm so pleased about the TIGs becoming a 'proper' party for elections. I'm cautiously optimistic about not being politically homeless in the future.

tobee · 29/03/2019 13:17

Which way would he go though @1tisILeClerc ?

insaneduetobrexit · 29/03/2019 13:18

How come the tv media are not commenting about the lack of remain protests?

RedToothBrush · 29/03/2019 13:21

BBC Politics @BBCPolitics
Former #Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab says he will reluctantly back the withdrawal agreement in today's vote, saying it is the "responsible thing for all sides to do" to avoid no deal and ensure the UK leaves the EU

No Deal is apparently 'irresponsible' according to Mr Raab, by the look of this.

Most interesting.

Thanks Clerc! Grin

CordeliaEarhart · 29/03/2019 13:22

Fluffy, it isn't guaranteed that it will be approved by the Electoral Commission in time, but one would hope they would prioritise it.

The pictures from the protest look like there's a very different atmosphere to the PV march. So glad I live far away and it looks like the Met were quite right in advising some offices to close. MEPs tweeting totally untrue rumours of police plans to deliberately provoke Brexiteers and use water cannons really don't help matters.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2019 13:24

It's nonsense to think th police would provoke unrest. Only a total dunderhead would believe that one!

tobee · 29/03/2019 13:24

The BBC just went to talk to some "leave protesters". Sorry I had to change channel.

Horehound · 29/03/2019 13:24

It's only part of what Was voted for in MV 1 and 2. The political declaration has not been included however, in January theres a told us all they just go together. So basically it's just a ploy tinged what was voted for in MV 1 and 2 through but its just it will happen in 2 parts. Hmm it also locks in the may 22nd date.

EweSurname · 29/03/2019 13:25

Is that Mr Raab pursuing a possible leadership role? I've yet to see him act in anything other than self-interest so what's in it for him

tobee · 29/03/2019 13:25

Some MEPs=total dunderheads ✅

1tisILeClerc · 29/03/2019 13:26

{Which way would he go though @1tisILeClerc ?}
With the calibre of some of the MPs I think it might be in keeping to toss for it.

CordeliaEarhart · 29/03/2019 13:29

In addition to the fact there are plenty of total dunderheads around, there are also people who will use this as an excuse to behave violently, and there are an even bigger group who are totally distrustful of the police and see them as just another part of the Establishment. From which only Nigel Farage can possibly be their saviour.

In must be very difficult to be a reasonable Leave voter when the people you'd get to march with are like that. I don't blame them for staying away.

prettybird · 29/03/2019 13:30

Sister - apparently it isn't a MV Confused - and that's according to the Government's own definition ShockConfused

At best it's MV2.5 Hmm

RedToothBrush · 29/03/2019 13:30

Ross Kempsell @rosskempsell
Brexit voters want to see MPs pass the deal by 49% to 30%

Conservative voters want the Commons to accept the deal at a rate of 57% to 24%

But take some time to get outside, breathe in the spring air, admire the emerging buds and honey bees because no matter what happens today, they will still be there tomorrow. Look for the continuity of life

keepforgettingmyusername · 29/03/2019 13:31

What radio channel can I listen to coverage on in work? I've been following on Radio Ulster but now it's the country music programme Hmm

RedToothBrush · 29/03/2019 13:32

Nicholas Watt @nicholaswatt
A brief marriage ends. DUP learning today that many in ERG = Brexiteers first Unionists second. DUP = Unionists first and Brexiteers second. So DUP would countenance long extension / customs union over PM’s deal while ERG will support PM’s deal over long extension / customs union

Ewe...yes Raab is alleged to be preparing to run for leadership. Looking at the comments on various FB groups he seems to have the most support among Tory voters.

Gove still has a reputation of being a snake/backstabber

BoJo appears to be marmite - some love him, some see him as an embarrassment/buffoon

Not much love shown for The Saj (let's be honest...the Tory party aren't going to have a British Asian PM)

No-one seems to be talking about Loathsome.

They all seem to want JRM to run, I don't believe he has any intentions of doing anything other than run his little boy's club ERG and heckle from the backbenches

NoWordForFluffy · 29/03/2019 13:33

Who's the bloke on the state broadcaster's news channel.

He was saying that the IV process was a total shambles as it didn't give any clear way forward. Thereby showing he didn't understand the IV process at all. Or he's a Brexiter trying to discredit the IV process. 🤔🤔🤔

wheresmymojo · 29/03/2019 13:33

Brexit voters want to see MPs pass the deal by 49% to 30%

Conservative voters want the Commons to accept the deal at a rate of 57% to 24%

That's quite a turnaround from previous polls...they must be worried!

BercowsSilkTie · 29/03/2019 13:33

What time is the vote today? Not sure I can bear to watchSad

tobee · 29/03/2019 13:34

Just heard the bbc say you can keep up on BBC5 live @keepforgettingmyusername. Not sure how extensive that will be though. Might just be updates

prettybird · 29/03/2019 13:34

ColdNeverBotheredMeAnyway - the pro-EU Supporters (Sodem) were advised by the police not to be there today for the sake of their own safety. Shock

There are also people who work in the vicinity of WM who were advised not to go to work today by the police Shock

Contrast that with the peaceful c1.5 million March at the weekend - which even went past, without incident, a Brexit protest in Trafalgar Square Hmm
