Westminstenders: Arse about Face

Everything about Brexit seems to have been done wrongly.

Setting red lines to rule out a compromise

The attempt to use executive power to trigger A50, that resulted in a court case

Triggering A50 before knowing what the UK wanted

Agreeing to the backstop before any Tory MP understood the GFA

Appointing a Brexit minister before checking he understood where Dover was.

May going on about NI and pissing off the DUP before they were just about to climb down.

Having a Meaningless Vote repeatedly with a gun to head.

Contempt of Parliament and just general fucking up.

Tonight, 3 days before we were due to leave the HoC finally sat down to decide what Brexit outcomes they thought would be a good idea - more than 2years after that should have happened.

And we now we are told the meaningful vote might be may even more meaningless by being wrapped up in the illusive Withdrawal Agreement Implimentation Bill.

Farce doesn't even cover it.

Anyway Indicative Vote results incoming in approx 15 mins.

Jeremy Hunt, Sajid Javid, Amber Rudd, Michael Gove, Matt Hancock, Liz Truss, Gavin Williamson, Andrea Leadsom, Stephen Barclay, Penny Mordaunt, Boris Johnson, Dominic Raab, James Cleverly and Johnny Mercer are all thought to be considering running for PM.

Prime Minister Steve Barclay anyone?

Littlespaces · 28/03/2019 21:42

I'm hoping they all lose their seats.

Wenttoseainasieve · 28/03/2019 21:42

@RedToothBrush

Don't, I'm about to go to bed, you'll give me nightmares Shock

dontcallmelen · 28/03/2019 21:43

Fuck I have no words if any of them become PM were all doomed, doomed I say😱😱😱😱

TemporaryPermanent · 28/03/2019 21:45

Apparently there is talk of a Gove/Javid leadership bid. AAARGH. Is this a 'dream team'? And what mind-altering substance would produce a dream like that?

Songsofexperience · 28/03/2019 21:46

They'll probably eat one another first. It'll be like the Hunger Games.

Littlespaces · 28/03/2019 21:47

More like a waking terror.

RedToothBrush · 28/03/2019 21:47

There is also talk of a Johnson / Gove ticket...

Personally I don't think that one is coming from Camp Gove.

What a shower. Liz Truss? Johnny Mercer? PM candidates ain't what they used to be.

dontcallmelen · 28/03/2019 21:51

Yy they would definitely eat each other.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 28/03/2019 21:52

Saw a post somewhere earlier which I can’t now find. Basically all their mug shots with the caption

Like Game of Thrones if everyone was Joffrey.

HeronLanyon · 28/03/2019 21:53

Although allnwouldnbe annightmare if boris Johnson becomes prime minister I really don’t know what I’d do ! Absolutely unbelievable that it would even be possible. Good friend always said he was our. trump. Literally feel sick.

mathanxiety · 28/03/2019 21:53

It feels like they're ostriching and waiting for some miraculous intervention to sort everything out
Yamayo

It won't happen, but wouldn't it be gas if Sinn Fein rocked up, took the Oath, and voted for the CU?

dontcallmelen · 28/03/2019 21:58

Oh math in our dreams, if only.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 28/03/2019 22:01

I really should not be watching The Handmaid’s Tale should I? It’s doing nothing to ease my feelings of dread and impending doom.

I'm assuming the Johnson Gove thing is a joke.

woodpigeons · 28/03/2019 22:04

I can’t think who would be the worst, Andrea Leadsom or Boris Johnson.

jasjas1973 · 28/03/2019 22:09

Absolute indulgence...as they pursue their ambition.
Don't they see or care what Brexit is doing to our once great and respected country?

A curse on the lot of them

borntobequiet · 28/03/2019 22:21

Back home after film, very good. Though why on Earth I thought A Private War would be calming I don’t know.

borntobequiet · 28/03/2019 22:25

And I can’t see how a general election would resolve anything at all.

This.

HazardGhost · 29/03/2019 00:14

singing nooo it's the worse thing to watch! It's a brilliant show but after every episode last year when I was watching it with DP I kept planning our escape route out the country and asking DP at which point would he go? It's made really clear though that the moment you realise you need to flee it might be to late to get out.

He reminds me a lot that it is fictional 😂

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/03/2019 02:34

Have signed the European election petition. It’s at 946.
However, if (hopefully) the WA deal gets rejected today, MPs will have no option but to agree to the EU terms, ie European elections, because the alternative is a no deal crash out in 2 weeks time. And MPs have overwhelmingly voted against it ( in indicative votes’)

Violetparis · 29/03/2019 08:49

Have any of you seen the amendment for today from Lisa Nandy ? It is saying WA could be approved on condition that Parliament has a greater say over the future relationship. Wonder if this will bring more Labour MPs into supporting the WA today.
