Leavers, I'm a leaver... are you out there

BurpsandHustles · 26/03/2019 20:43

I know this thread will get trolled and spammed with the usual suspects demanding answers from us.

But I'm hoping any leavers out there could ignore them and tell me how their feeling.

Right now I'm wondering who the hell is speaking out for us? It's gone very quiet....

There is some momentum from pro Europe voices... but aside from a damp squib march from farage..does anyone else think it's gone eerily quiet!!

OP posts:
ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 08:35

Parker, on what grounds do you think the police should not allow the march? and arrest Tommy Robinson?

Parker231 · 29/03/2019 08:37

Tommy Robinson = racist thug!

1tisILeClerc · 29/03/2019 08:41

From the OP.
{Right now I'm wondering who the hell is speaking out for us? It's gone very quiet....}

Probably because it is a stupid idea?
HTH.

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 09:16

You want the police to arrest him for being a racist thug? Goodness me. I always thought people were arrested for specific crimes, not for general (false in this case) labels.

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 09:22

I'm slightly morbidly fascinated by the compulsion some people have to gratuitously insult leave voters. Where does it come from? What do they hope to achieve? Do they ever ask themselves this?

twofingerstoEverything · 29/03/2019 09:24

OP Right now I'm wondering who the hell is speaking out for us? It's gone very quiet...
See my post above re the marches in London today. Those people are willing to 'speak out' for you and would probably appreciate some support to bolster their numbers.

Peregrina · 29/03/2019 09:33

I could easily imagine Tommy Robinson being arrested for a breach of the peace.

As for people speaking out for Leavers - they need to get themselves to London. Come on, a million and a half of Remainers managed it last Saturday , it shouldn't be difficult.

Mookatron · 29/03/2019 09:41

Tommy Robinson and UKIP are now known to be far right activists. Even Nigel Farage won't be associated with them any more. Mumsnet allowing that advertising post to stand is actually shocking. It is not a polite invitation from a leave voter it's a fascist call to arms.

Mookatron · 29/03/2019 09:44

It seems they are going to delete it now. Apologies.

Parker231 · 29/03/2019 09:45

I think being a racist thug is a very valid reason to arrest Tommy Robinson. His actions are not wanted in our society.

Random18 · 29/03/2019 09:50

I am glad Mumsnet have deleted that post. People 100% have the right to protest as long as they do it in a respectful peaceful way.

If it is a group of football thugs (who are not really fans just hooligans) then yes that’s very scary.

Do people not remember back to the 80’s and all the problems that were had with ‘football’ hooligans?

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 09:53

Yes, as could anyone who attempts to or isthought to be attempting to breach the peace. Parker seems to think he should be arrested for who he is. I like to hope we are not at that stage yet.

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 09:57

Football fans and football thugs are not the same. Labeliing people as thugs because they are football fans is not okay.

Do people not remember back to the 80’s and all the problems that were had with ‘football’ hooligans?

So because football hooligans acted badly 30 years ago, you want to denigrate current day football fans?

Random18 · 29/03/2019 10:03

@ReleasetheBats so what is this group that are marching today - Football fans or hooligans?

Peregrina · 29/03/2019 10:04

Football fans and football thugs are not the same.

That's exactly what the other poster was saying though.

Mookatron · 29/03/2019 10:07

Football fans and football thugs are not the same.

Agreed, but using 'football lads' as a way of getting a group together for peaceful action is either disingenuous or really, really bad PR

ReleaseTheBats · 29/03/2019 10:18

Anyone who wants to find out about the FLA can easily do so. I'm don't understand this demonisation of football fans. Is it a class thing? I don't know. Anyway, I'll leave it there as I have a house I need to tidy.

1tisILeClerc · 29/03/2019 10:18

Is there a football match on in Westminster this afternoon?

1tisILeClerc · 29/03/2019 10:22

Yes anyone is welcome to protest, but any found to be breaking the law by vandalising other peoples property or causing public order offences should be dealt with as appropriate.

Random18 · 29/03/2019 10:28

@Releasethebats - wtf a class thing?

I just don’t get that at all.

Mookatron · 29/03/2019 10:28

Yes anyone can find out about the FLA. Quick Google:

The Premier League has warned clubs that "the group is using fans and stadiums to push an anti-Muslim agenda".[1] Concern has also been expressed that the Alliance is "giving cover to the far right"[3] and "uses a secret Facebook page full of violent, racist and misogynistic posts".[4]

Is from Wikipedia but the sources check out.

Tanith · 29/03/2019 10:58

I am quite sure that these people will be the epitome of polite conduct.
They will walk along quietly with their partners, holding hands and smiling beatifically at the police. They will hand out posies of freshly gathered flowers, picked from their gardens that very morning...
...and a sparkly rainbow unicorn will decend from the clouds and lead us to sunlit non-EU paradise in a cloud of glitter.

twofingerstoEverything · 29/03/2019 11:45

My 'advert' was actually making a point about the type of people who will be protesting this afternoon. I am a firm remainer. I guess I forgot to add my sarcasm emoji. I am glad to hear that Steven Bray, SODEM and the other Remain protestors are giving Parliament Square a wide berth this afternoon. I think that will be very wise.

Helmetbymidnight · 29/03/2019 11:47

Right now I'm wondering who the hell is speaking out for us?

This is still absolutely mystifying to me.

The OP, a brexiteer, has not noticed anyone speaking out for Brexit.

She simply hasn't noticed Tommy Robinson, Farage, JRM, Liam Fox, Johnson, Teresa May at all.

How is that possible?

twofingerstoEverything · 29/03/2019 11:53

I am quite sure that these people will be the epitome of polite conduct.
Their Facebook page indicates that they intend to start "all out war" and will burn EU flags etc (as any reasonable protestors would...)
