Brighton! Its already got a 'people's republic of Bton and Hove' group on fb

Holidayshopping · 25/03/2019 17:19

So my understanding of the position now is that Theresa May is going to do nothing while MPs play around with other options, which will all be rejected by her. Then at the last moment when time and ideas have run out, present her deal again as by this point she thinks everyone will vote for it. Is that right?

That is the gist I think-yes.

Is that supposed to be democracy? Or a dictatorship.

Apileofballyhoo · 25/03/2019 17:19

This is all such a load of bollocks.

LarkDescending · 25/03/2019 17:22

From the BBC live thread:

Former Labour leader Ed Miliband asks the PM whether she will not take the UK out of the EU without a deal on 12 April if the Commons "continues to vote against no deal".

Theresa May replies that "if we are not going to leave the European Union without a deal, then we need to clearly have a deal which enables us to leave the European Union".

Nothing has changed.

NoWordforFluffy - I'll reserve a space for you in my refugee village Wink

TokyoSushi · 25/03/2019 17:24

Thank you my loves, I am homeless, but in the best possible way, we've had an utterly ridiculous house move situation (see waiting to move thread) and are currently living in a hotel. We have left a nice house behind and wait for a very nice house to complete.

It's going on longer than expected, my work is very political (NOT government!) so I dazzle them with my political knowledge by day (they of course have no knowledge of my MN use) and then catch up on the 'shit show du jour' by night. Usually on my phone, in the dark, wearing DS' Pokemon headphones which is how I'll be watching the voting tonight!

Oh how I'll look back on this time with weird memories!

DGRossetti · 25/03/2019 17:25

Is that supposed to be democracy? Or a dictatorship.

It's an enabled dictatorship. As long as MPs are more worried about themselves than the country, this is what you get.

Mark my words, Bad People in Other Countries have been watching closely and taking notes. The point about the price of liberty being eternal vigilance was not made for fun.

OublietteBravo · 25/03/2019 17:25

WFT on the not going against the manifesto promises. Hello! Earth to TM. YOU DO NOT HAVE A FUCKING MAJORITY. You cannot guarantee support for anything in your manifesto unless MPs who do not belong to your party are prepared to vote with the government. And in case you haven’t noticed, your OWN PARTY aren’t solidly behind you.

BiglyBadgers · 25/03/2019 17:27

In a caravan of Dorset Shepherd's Huts?

Seconded!

The caravan can travel through the highways and byways of Free Wessex bringing democracy to the masses. It's bloody beautiful. I think I might cry.

bellinisurge · 25/03/2019 17:29

What about us poor sods up North?

OublietteBravo · 25/03/2019 17:29

Oh, and your manifesto was so popular with the electorate that it lost you your majority. Just in case you hadn’t noticed.

HazardGhost · 25/03/2019 17:30

I'm in a foul mood today just foul.

I am so over this shite. Between the slow torture brexit and DP mr health unpredictable I'm just...bored of being tired and tired of being bored, bored of being exasperated and exasperated that i am somehow bored!

It's impossible to plan anything.

BiglyBadgers · 25/03/2019 17:30

What about us poor sods up North?

Join Scotland. They seem to have it sorted.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/03/2019 17:30

Thank you, prettybird Smile

I'd come sooner rather than later if I could persuade DH, but sadly he's not quite ready to make the leap. Slowly, slowly catchy monkey and all that!

67chevvyimpala · 25/03/2019 17:31

When is the voting?
10pm?

TalkinPaece · 25/03/2019 17:31

Tokyo
These threads raise my blood pressure but they do mean I am less surprised by the news.
Hope the hotel are feeding you well.

Jason118 · 25/03/2019 17:31

Ok, but what about the Midlands? Pleeeeeeaaase don't leave us alone with the madness!!!!

Holidayshopping · 25/03/2019 17:31

She must be sick to the back teeth of saying the same old shite over and over again.

Why doesn’t she do us all a favour and take a nice long extended holiday.

BercowsSilkTie · 25/03/2019 17:31

Fuck. That's all I've got right now.

MissMalice · 25/03/2019 17:32

PMK

DGRossetti · 25/03/2019 17:33

Ok, but what about the Midlands? Pleeeeeeaaase don't leave us alone with the madness!!!!

Er, to my disgust (and not helping my Londoncentric views) Birmingham voted to Leave (well, my constituency didn't, which is a dilemma for my MP).

bellinisurge · 25/03/2019 17:33

@BiglyBadgers ,seeing as how the Scots actually got down as far as where I live when they invaded, you could be on to something Grin.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 25/03/2019 17:33

The way I read it she’s saying either my deal or if the house won’t agree to it, then no deal.

Someone please tell me I’m wrong.

hanahsaunt · 25/03/2019 17:35

Ed Vasey (sp?) was quite impressive on PM. May he and those like him rise up.
