If anyone says they know what will happen this week....

... They don't.

I have spent literally years of my life 'winging it' in various work-related situations and it's all gone to plan. But then, I am not the PM (or LINO - leader in name only, an acronym I love) and probably if I'd been doing a 'proper' job rather than a rather hazy 'creative' one I'd have had my arse handed to me on a plate the first time I 'winged it'.

TokyoSushi - the garden has already been promised as a future English refugee zone when Scotland achieves its independence Grin

Scotland welcomes refugees Wink I believe we already host more than 20% of the Syrian refugees Smile

BigChocFrenzy · 25/03/2019 16:53

TokyoSushi I hope you are OK and that your situation is just temporary

prettybird · 25/03/2019 16:54

....that the Home Office has let come into the UK.

JadziaSnax · 25/03/2019 16:56

I'm absolutely lost. Does this make no deal more likely?

Hasenstein · 25/03/2019 16:56

Re. getting Brenda to hammer the view of "her" people into May's thick skull, I noticed on the way back from the march that her flag was flying, so she must have been at home and noticed that the roads around her house were pretty full for a Saturday.

prettybird · 25/03/2019 16:57

Red - I just read out your short but succinct and accurate OP to dh.

He said, "WHICH week?" Wink It's Groundhog Week , let alone Day! Confused

CordeliaEarhart · 25/03/2019 16:58

A late PMK and thanks for the succinct new thread red

PickleSarnie · 25/03/2019 16:58

I listened to the HoC debate earlier for a few minutes and I swear my blood pressure got dangerously high before I turned it off and tried to retreat to a happy place.

Feck me, she's not well I don't think. I think she may need resetting back to original factory settings.

I may need to start on my stockpiled wine tonight.

BigChocFrenzy · 25/03/2019 16:59

Is he correct ?

Jo Maugham QC@JolyonMaugham

This is profoundly important moment - it is perhaps the most significant thing Theresa May has said on Brexit since she decided that the vote in 2016 meant leaving the Customs Union.
....
MPs' assessment of the outcome of that vote and the threat - or promise - of revocation will condition their attitude to what comes in the next two weeks.

If you are ERG and you think you'd lose a No Deal/Revocation vote, will you vote against her deal?
.....
So important do I believe it to be that I spent much of my weekend drafting a Bill mandating that outcome and lobbying a cross-party group of MPs to sponsor it.

It now looks as though Theresa May has given us this result without even needing to ask
........
Sam Coates Timess@SamCoatesTimes*

Theresa May just appeared to rule out no deal unless majority for the Commons agrees

“Unless this house agrees to it no deal will not happen”

Feels like a significant statement

yolofish · 25/03/2019 17:03

“Unless this house agrees to it no deal will not happen”

But the House has already ruled it out. The House doesnt like her deal, there is no room for a new deal. So surely the only option is revoke?

I would be happy (very happy!) with Revoke, even if it came with conditions attached. Surely Revoke, Reconsider, Regroup and Represent to the People would be the most sensible, least painful idea? Yeah, I know, stupid of me.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/03/2019 17:03

That woman is, quite possibly, certifiable. I had to give up watching in the end as - once again - my TV was in danger of being defenestrated!

I now have the delight of Peter Rabbit thanks to the small people, and my blood pressure is dropping.

If Scotland votes to exit the union after a no deal Brexit, I'll be dragging my family back up to Glasgow as fast as I can; I am so worried about all of our futures if this goes tits up (which, given that it's very clear the Maybot is STILL doggedly banging the 'my deal or no deal' drum, despite not being able to bring her deal back for another vote, is the most likely result).

I really want the Queen to step in and bloody DO something! As DGR said, what's the point in her having the ability to do so if she doesn't use it solve the biggest constitutional crisis in living memory?

yolofish · 25/03/2019 17:03

PS 'taking account of those who want to Remain' - when the fuck did that ever happen????????

bellinisurge · 25/03/2019 17:06

As much as I admire Brenda (and I didn't until her state visit to Ireland), I think she serves everyone better by keeping the hell out of it.

OutwithMyRemit · 25/03/2019 17:08

Watched some of the HoC on BBC Parliment earlier (whilst having a WhatsApp argument with family who are so fucking ignorant about No Deal they almost deserve No Deal! Angry). TM sounds completely deranged and monomanical now. It's a fucking dictatorship.

SisterMichael · 25/03/2019 17:09

PMK.

dontcallmelen · 25/03/2019 17:09

PMK, Just fecking terrified now😢

Holidayshopping · 25/03/2019 17:09

Unless this house agrees to it no deal will not happen

So, vote for my deal or else it’s no deal which is YOUR fault!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/03/2019 17:10

Maybe we will revoke?

I've tried to listen.

I can't.

My blood pressure can't take it.

Cherrypi · 25/03/2019 17:14

Slow brexit for a general election then?

BollocksToBrexit · 25/03/2019 17:14

So my understanding of the position now is that Theresa May is going to do nothing while MPs play around with other options, which will all be rejected by her. Then at the last moment when time and ideas have run out, present her deal again as by this point she thinks everyone will vote for it. Is that right?

So still no back up plan or fucking clue other than 'my deal'.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/03/2019 17:15

Where does Wessex end and Mercia begin?

This could be important especially for those in South Gloucestershire

NoWordForFluffy · 25/03/2019 17:16

I'd love to revoke, but as 'it's not the will of the people' it won't happen.
