If anyone says they know what will happen this week....

... They don't.

Could Wessex try for independence?

I'm in! :o

Icantreachthepretzels · 25/03/2019 16:04

Do you think the Queen might mention the march and the petition to her at their private meeting this week?
I imagine the yes men she will have surrounded herself with will be playing down the whole thing - but she can't shut Brenda up. I hope she advises our dear leader to maybe pay attention to the largest and fastest growing population of countries smashing petition of all time and to the largest peaceful protest that has ever marched through London.
Plus the threat to the union. As much as TM may value the union I reckon the Queen likes it a whole lot more.

BiglyBadgers · 25/03/2019 16:06

From the Guardian live feed: May suggests she would not accept customs union membership even if MPs were to vote in favour

This is basically dictatoring...right... Confused

QueenOfThorns · 25/03/2019 16:06

I wrote to my MP on Sunday, begging him once again to save us. He has replied today to say that he’ll be voting for the Labour amendment. Also, he’s firmly against no deal, because that would be a —Tory-- very bad thing.

He seems like a decent person, but I don’t see much point in writing to him if he just regurgitates the party line at me Sad

If the indicative votes aren’t whipped, maybe I’ll actually be able to work out what he himself thinks, not what Magic Grandpa told him to do. But they’re just a pointless charade on the road to no deal, apparently...

yolofish · 25/03/2019 16:06

Jesus, she's really off her head isnt she? or do I mean off with her head?? not advocating violence of course, but she is completely several sausage rolls short of a picnic.

Horehound · 25/03/2019 16:06

So what did she say the options actually are?

Icantreachthepretzels · 25/03/2019 16:07

re: breaking manifestos.
Surely as no part won a majority all manifestos are null and void anyway? A majority of people did not vote to support her manifesto in 2017, therefore she need not abide by it.

QueenOfThorns · 25/03/2019 16:07

Stupid iPad strikethrough fail!

prettybird · 25/03/2019 16:07

It is indeed our back garden - the half not in view (ie to the right of the cherry tree/raised beds as you look at them) belongs to our downstairs neighbours (although in practice, we treat share the upper lawn although dh does all the grass cutting as he's obsessed with it Grin (the front garden is communal but is just grass and rhodendrons).

Can't be built on as we live in a conservation zone. Smile

The kale has now flowered - not sure if I can use it like flowering broccoli Grin

TalkinPaece · 25/03/2019 16:07

can we make Old Sarum the capital of Wessex again

yolofish · 25/03/2019 16:07

maybe we should all lobby the Queen? enough emails to Buck House to ask Her Maj to step in and save her people, and her Union?

1tisILeClerc · 25/03/2019 16:08

I wonder if HRH the Queen has signed the petition?

67chevvyimpala · 25/03/2019 16:08

leclerc I haven't got enough butter for a lemon drizzle! Woe!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 25/03/2019 16:09

Government in name only.

MockerstheFeManist · 25/03/2019 16:09

The Mayborg is going to drive the bus over the cliff unless she is Terminated.

BigChocFrenzy · 25/03/2019 16:11

Thanks, red 💐

Noone has a clue, including the PM and the HoC
oh and the Leader of the Opposition is permanently out on his allotment

BigChocFrenzy · 25/03/2019 16:11

STILL unicorn-chasing from Brexiters ...
and still clear that the sticking point is the backstop - because it legally stops a hard border, which the GFA never considered.

Peter Foster Retweeted David Henig@DavidHenigUK

ERG twitter is currently going through one of their periodic bouts of claiming the Commission won't put in place border checks in Ireland in the event of no-deal, so there's no need for the backstop.

Wrong before, still wrong now, will continue to be wrong.

BiglyBadgers · 25/03/2019 16:12

maybe we should all lobby the Queen? enough emails to Buck House to ask Her Maj to step in and save her people, and her Union?

I'm no fan of the monarchy but surely if you're going to have one the least they can do is step in when the prime minister is lost all contact with reasonable logic and sense.

lonelyplanetmum · 25/03/2019 16:12

Sorry a Supreme leader twice in one week dissing Parliament. This is a coup isn't it.

Initially taking control by deceit and now by refusing to accept Parliamentary majorities?

dreichuplands · 25/03/2019 16:12

Okay I'm going to go back to the petition,
hore random unconnected French people are unlikely to sign it, why would they? You have to identify either as a UK citizen or as living in the UK. Both of these things connect you to the UK.

ThisThatAndTother · 25/03/2019 16:12

I'm that desperate I'm going to try to use telepathy to get TM to revoke, as suggested by Uri Geller...

DGRossetti · 25/03/2019 16:13

Do you think the Queen might mention the march and the petition to her at their private meeting this week?

The few times I've read of the meetings (and from memory Major and Blair confirmed) the Queen is exceptionally well briefed, and will not allow herself to be waffled too. I'm imagining Mays meets are increasingly tense. Especially if she were to dare to try and repeat the silence she gave the EU were the Queen to ask a direct question.

The problem is for all this, the Queen is at the whim of "the government".

Now if parliament were to simply arrange themselves to pass a vote expressing confidence in - then the Queen would be free - and would be expected - to appoint that person "Prime Minister". However, on the basis that the Queen has seen the fall of Empires- including her own - it's a bit OTT, really.

PostNotInHaste · 25/03/2019 16:13

PMK. Would like to be a member if the Wessex Independence Party please. Watching Vikings and Wessex doing quite well in the episode last night.

BollocksToBrexit · 25/03/2019 16:13

Spring hasn't sprung here yet. My garden looks as grey and dead as Theresa's deal.

yolofish · 25/03/2019 16:14

yeah I'm going to email her now. I know she is apolitical, it wont make a blind bit of difference, but I might have an apoplexy if I dont do something (and my MP is Damian Collins, so no good trying there, wanker).
