If anyone says they know what will happen this week....

... They don't.

what was the other amendment they were going to vote on tonight?

CordeliaEarhart · 25/03/2019 22:28

Im pretty sure it's really hard to actually kick out an MP because they have been elected by their constituents. Anyone know what it would actually take (I don't remember it happening in my lifetime)?

Loletta · 25/03/2019 22:28

8 Labour voted with the government
Barton, Campbell, R. Cooper, Flint, Hepburn, Hoey, Mann, Stringer
Angry

ContinuityError · 25/03/2019 22:29

Is that Nicky Morgan voting for the Letwin amendment?

OublietteBravo · 25/03/2019 22:30

I’ve always thought Steve Brine was one of the most coat-tail hanging line-toeing MP there was. Seems like I was wrong. If it’s true.

I’d have said the same of Alistair Burt. I had him pegged as a hardline Brexiteer until he abstained in the No Deal vote last week...

CordeliaEarhart · 25/03/2019 22:30

Lols, I keep seeing info on the state broadcaster immediately after it has been posted on here. Clearly this is the place to be for the proper up to date info!

AutumnCrow · 25/03/2019 22:30

I don't want to sound like Philomena Cunk, but when ministers resign, where do they go?

Grin

As others have said, to the back benches, and they lose their ministerial allowances and perks. Many come back under a new PM, some never do.

tobee · 25/03/2019 22:30

Criminal acts? Not sure even then. I know you can't resign as an mp. You have to go to the chiltern hundreds or somefing???

Loletta · 25/03/2019 22:31

I still hope they will resign at some key moment. They can't be this useless, surely?

Icantreachthepretzels · 25/03/2019 22:32

A scandal big enough that they are forced to resign (though I doubt in this current shower there is a scandal sufficiently large enough to shame them into resigning) or being sent to prison for over a certain length of time.
MPs can be suspended (as was Ian Paisley Junior recently) and they can have the whip removed (though they keep their seat) - but I think the only way to actually get rid of them forever is to deselect for the next GE.

ContinuityError · 25/03/2019 22:32

Hoey is a disgrace. Did she really need Bercow to explain to her earlier today that international law takes precedent over domestic law?

tobee · 25/03/2019 22:32

Found this

Loletta · 25/03/2019 22:32

Nicky Morgan is clearly a bit confused Hmm

GD12 · 25/03/2019 22:32

Green and Morgan voted against government. I guess they want a Malthouse indicitive vote as an option.

prettybird · 25/03/2019 22:33

Bugger Sad

EweSurname · 25/03/2019 22:33

Becket amendment defeated 311 314.

GD12 · 25/03/2019 22:33

Oh for God sake!

Fuckers.

The major votes have been passed due to Labour votes. Labour MP's defying the whip. Last summer and again recently. Tory rebels being countered by Labour rebels. I know why as they are in Brexit voting seats but one shouldn’t ignore this critical point. If these Labour MP's hadn't kept voting with the Tory government this would have come to a head much sooner.

AutumnCrow · 25/03/2019 22:34

Abstentions there then.

Apileofballyhoo · 25/03/2019 22:34

Maybe we'll get a Speaker's vote yet. That was only 3.

Apileofballyhoo · 25/03/2019 22:35

Hoey isn't in a Leave seat. She's just in the wrong country.

CordeliaEarhart · 25/03/2019 22:35

Thanks pretzels. So short prison sentences a just dandy then?! 😱

SwedishEdith · 25/03/2019 22:36

I watched that. Pure playing to a Brexiter "What about sovrin'y?" gallery. She knew the answer and knows why - at least, I bloody hope so.

TatianaLarina · 25/03/2019 22:36

Hoey isn't in a Leave seat. She's just in the wrong country.

She’s just an idiot.
