You think the red tops and Russia social media would allow Brexit to be quietly dropped?Confused

lonelyplanetmum · 28/03/2019 18:59

Another petition - this one for a second vote

<a class="break-all" href="http://go.mumsnet.com/?xs=1&id=470X1554755&url=petition.parliament.uk/petitions/235138" target="_blank">https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/235138

Might as well - sign and share. Sign and share.

Unescorted · 28/03/2019 19:03

Done

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2019 19:21

If they had something else to entertain instead. Yes, I think it's possible.

Arowana · 28/03/2019 19:49

It's a shame that it won't hit 6 million today (at 11pm Wink) as the signing rate has, understandably, slowed down.

BlackeyedGruesome · 29/03/2019 14:32

21 per minute.

after the initial rush it seems painfully slow, but it is to be expected.

DontMakeMeShushYou · 29/03/2019 15:19

It seems to be speeding up a bit following Parliament's vote this afternoon but still probably not enough to hit 6 million.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 29/03/2019 15:42

Might get to six million after all.

NotAnActualSheep · 29/03/2019 16:17

Aaaargh - it is painful watching it creep up! Was really hoping it would top 6 million by 11pm too...or at least by when it is "debated" on Monday (not that it will make any difference..but would be nice to have the number by then).

In case you haven't seen, there is another petition asking that preparations are made for European elections, here. I don't know enough about these things, and I thought that we would be required to do this anyway if we haven't left by the 22nd May (hence the 12 April deadline) - but it can't do any harm to show that not everyone would view this with such distaste as TM implied in her speech last week. It's quite low in numbers at the moment.

StealthPolarBear · 29/03/2019 20:32

I do finally think it'll reach 6m!

If the situation isn't somehow resolved one way or another by may 22, I'd have thought the EU elections would be a good proxy vote. It's not horribly dominated by party politics, there's no other real manifestos to vote on, and because it uses PR you can more accurately vote as you believe.

They have to decide by April the 11th though to prepare for the elections. So far they are saying no to everything, but can not decide what to say yes to.

polarpig · 30/03/2019 15:36

9300 to go.

I just found a friend who hadn’t signed and she will ask her mum tomorrow. I’m desperate for it to be 6 million by Monday am.
Only about 3000 signatures to go!
