green party non men

Anidiotabroad · 27/03/2019 09:05

Donald Tusk had said to MEPs this morning:

"You cannot betray the six million people who signed a petition to revoke Article 50, the one million people who marched for a people’s vote, or the increasing majority of people who want to remain in the European Union. "

brizzlemint · 27/03/2019 09:09

Thanks for the non-men link. It's a load of bollocks.
Donald Tusk has the right idea re the petition but May will ignore, ignore, ignore.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 27/03/2019 09:11

He's tweeted it as well.

"Appeal to EP: You should be open to a long extension, if the UK wishes to rethink its strategy. 6 million people signed the petition, 1 million marched. They may not feel sufficiently represented by UK Parliament but they must feel represented by you. Because they are Europeans."

borntobequiet · 27/03/2019 10:04

I'm furious with LDs as well for their stance on women...but would vote for them in this one instance, because I think Brexit is a more immediate and less resolvable danger. (At some point soon the shit will hit the fan on a number of women's issues and political parties will be backing off at a tremendous speed.)

Mistigri · 27/03/2019 12:59

If you only voted for parties which fully represent all of your strongly held beliefs, most people wouldn't vote at all.

BlackeyedGruesome · 27/03/2019 15:44

Donald Tusk has made me cry. And I am glad that he knows that not everyone wants to leave.

BlackeyedGruesome · 27/03/2019 15:45

often i end up voting for the least worst option.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 27/03/2019 18:45

Donald Tusk made me emotional too BlackeyedGruesome
Even after all the shit Theresa May has pulled over the last few years, he's on our side. I am proud to be a European.

GummyGoddess · 27/03/2019 21:50

I did get a reply to my email

The petition asking the Government to revoke Article 50 is now due to be debated in the Commons on Monday 1 April 2019. Separately to that, MPs are today going to be asked their views on a range of options which may include a proposal to revoke Article 50.

StealthPolarBear · 27/03/2019 22:05

So they voted against revoke. And they're debating it on Monday but have already decided they won't revoke
Bloody hell what a waste of time and money and opportunity

StealthPolarBear · 27/03/2019 22:06

Love vince cable. Excellent.

StealthPolarBear · 27/03/2019 22:09

HeyCarrieAnneWhatsYourGame · 27/03/2019 22:11

Fuck me, what a nightmare.

StealthPolarBear · 27/03/2019 22:12

Two days is Friday. Do they all have Fridays off?
Not managed to switch off!

BlackeyedGruesome · 27/03/2019 22:18

5,903,904 slowly, steasily towards 6 million.

they are saying "non" to everything.

BagpussAteMyHomework · 27/03/2019 23:00

A lot can change in a few days. Look at Boris and JRM. Revoke makes more sense now that we can see just how stuck we are.

Possible change if PM and possible GE coming up, plus MEP elections. Joy.

BlackeyedGruesome · 28/03/2019 07:12

What the hell is going to happen next?

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2019 07:16

I personally think the best case scenario that could happen now is an incredibly long period of confusion and delay, taking part in the EU elections and then Brexit being quietly dropped when the next big thing comes along and the majority of the population have forgotten about it. I can't see an actual 'hard revoke' taking place now. I think I'd almost prefer an orderly exit to that, at least people will know where they stand.

frasersmummy · 28/03/2019 07:21

The petition means nothing to be quite honest.
Anyone with an email address and a UK address can sign it. Multiple email addresses means multiple opportunities to sign It
Kids who weren't allowed a say in the original vote could be voting in this.
People saying you can't ignore 6m people..so we should ignore the 17m and listen to the 6m.
I know mn is very heavily remain weighted so before you all pile in on top of me.
I made no comment on what should happen just pointing out the inadequacies of the petition

IceRebel · 28/03/2019 07:21

Brexit being quietly dropped when the next big thing comes along and the majority of the population have forgotten about it.

I honestly can't see people forgetting about this, especially those who want to leave.

Tanith · 28/03/2019 07:25

Can't vote Green since they decided to call women 'non men' shame as Caroline Lucas seems quite sound.

It isn’t so much that; it’s their cavalier attitude to safeguarding over the Challoners that convinced me I don’t want them anywhere near a position of real power.

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2019 07:40

Ice rebel without wanting to sound morbid and hoping this doesn't happen for a few years, I think the death of the queen could divert the attention of the vast majority of the population who aren't particularly politically minded (myself included).

ReleaseTheBats · 28/03/2019 11:46

Brexit being quietly dropped when the next big thing comes along and the majority of the population have forgotten about it

You are completely understimating the strength of feeling at large on this issue.

StealthPolarBear · 28/03/2019 17:13

Possibly you're right.
